And if you’ve watched this channel in the past, you know, the figi chix DOA CAL paddle tail is my confidence bait.

Does the Yo-Zuri 3D Inshore Twitchbait Mullet Catch Redfish? - ua-cam.com/video/P1kEj_PjF0Y/v-deo.html
I know I'm late to the party. While I really really like hard subsurface twitchbaits, and in certain situations they are S-tier lures, I'm going to have to vote for the paddletail jig because it's got more versatility. You can fish it similarly to a twitchbait but you can't jig a twitch bait right on the bottom in deep holes and you can't (at least I can't) skip a twitchbait up under mangroves or docks
It's true that there are limitations on both sides of the debate. In those particular situations you'll definitely choose one over the other.
Where I am, hard baits have the advantage of durability. Soft plastics while fun to fish and versatile, they get torn up pretty fast especially when bluefish are around.
True!
Yo-Zuri makes very good baits and are my favorite hard baits. Try the 2.75" .025oz 3DS series, runs 1-2ft and suspends. And do yourself a favor - change those trebles out for Owner in-line singles. Much, much safer for you and the fish!
Thanks Buc. I'll have to try the 3DS series! And I absolutely agree on the inline hooks... I do that on most of my hard baits now - www.kayakfishingaddict.com/2020/11/change-your-treble-hooks-to-inline.html
Ive been using the 3d twitch and it is pretty crazy how well it works.
Nice!
Really enjoyed this video. Ive had that lure in my box for about 2 years and since seeing this video i will be trying it in s diffrent application. Thanks for the tips and video. God bless and lines tight 🙏🤙
Thanks. I hope it works well for you. Tight lines!
Good looking trout and flatty!
Thanks!
THAT TROUT IS HUGE😳
Boom!
Nice catches! I always have the DOA CAL in my kayak but I like the looks of that Yo-Zuri. Definitely going to check them out.
I try to keep things very simple. So it takes a lot to get in my tackle box...in fact, I kicked one hard lure out of the box to even try this one .... hmmm, maybe I'm OCD with my tackle box....but I went fishing again with this one and let's just say it earned it's spot.
@@KayakFishingAddict Lol! I do much better when I keep things simple. Had to get on Amazon after watching the video to order that lure!
Just found your channel, nice trout will check out more vids. Try working the mullet slower with a twitch/pause. You should get a walk the dog effect, but submerged. I'm normally a Z-Man guy but find myself starting my sessions with a twitch bait. Hard baits are showing more action out of the box now. Tight lines!
Welcome to the channel. I do fish too fast most of the time!
@@KayakFishingAddict As do I! I have to concentrate on the speed. Checked out some vids showing the action of the lure underwater it really shines on the pause, hangs in the strike zone. Tight lines!
Nice trout, prefer the DOA only because I have never used the T.B.mullet changing that soon :) Like always awesome video thanks man. Enjoy watching!
Off the wall question but brand net do you use? I'm in need of a new one, love that compact handle but deep basket.
Lol.... working on the next video...so without spoiling it...pick up a couple of inline hooks when you pick up the Yo-Zuri Twitchin Mullet and you'll be happy.
@@kylecoburn5515 ForEverlast G2.... the G stands for Generation... it's a floating net. Academy is the cheapest at $20. I highly recommend it!
Nice trout. Thanks for the video
Thanks for watching, subscribing, and commenting Kevin!
DOA Cal shad in glow in the dark with 3/8 DOA jighead is my go to but i just got a bunch of the yozuri twichbait in mullet & peanut bunker in both 3.5 & 5 1/8 inch...I also picked up a bunch of Down South lures in the 4.5 inch...I'll let you know how things work out...the mullet just showed up a few days ago in small numbers in South East Florida...HAPPY FISHING
Sounds like you're ready! Tight lines indeed!
What rod and reel are you using? I would like to get a baitcaster for saltwater use, not sure which brand to buy. Thanks for the videos.
Hi Mason. I currently use KastKing Royale Legend Elite Series Baitcasting Reels and a 7’, Medium, Fast, 1 piece KastKing Royale Select Fishing Rod. Enjoy!
I'm using a Diawa Arid 100hsa & St. Croix mojo inshore 7ft. Medium fast...i usually use Abu-Garcia Revo's & Orra's but giving Diawa a shot since I got a good deal on it.
I bought two of you guys a couple days ago they work so good for striped bass in the fall on Long Island
Glad they work for you!
New subscriber! Nice content... just back from Florida vacation and missing it already 😂
Thanks. I’m glad you enjoy the content.
Beautiful strike bro.
Thanks 👍
Nice trout!!!!
Thanks!
Are you saying the name of the DOA Cal Shad incorrectly?
Fiji 🇫🇯 Chicken color is Fiji Chix.
Heddon ( Vintage lure company ) is said Hedd- on .
Hi Chris. Thanks, I appreciate the feedback and I like to get things right! I thought I got the name of the DOA Cal Shad correct, it's "441 Figi Chix" on their site. However, in my recent searches I've also seen the same color named "Fiji Chix" and "Fiji Chicken". So, perhaps it is supposed to be Fiji and not Figi? Interestingly, I found a site that says that "Figi" is the most common misspelling of "Fiji". So likely that is the case! Either way, I did mispronounce Heddon, my apologies to Mr. James Heddon (head-en). Thanks again!
great video bro and great fish!
Thanks for watching and commenting!
@@KayakFishingAddict anytime man
Cool video! What line were you using for the twitching mullet?
Thanks. I'm not exactly sure what I was using at that time but it was likely 20 lbs braid from KastKing. All of the gear I use is at gear.KayakFishingAddict.com Enjoy!
@@KayakFishingAddict thank you
What size 3D are you using in the video? Also which size do you prefer for redfish, snook and trout? Great videos!
Hi Steve. Welcome to the channel! Thanks for watching and subscribing. It’s the 3.5” version. That’s my preferred bait size for slot redfish, snook, and trout.
Kayak Fishing Addict Thanks for replying so fast! Need some slot Snook. Go get em!
@@KayakFishingAddict MirrOlure Mr17 will out fish that yozuri 3db Mullet lure hands down try them out
Dope video brother! Keep em coming!
Thanks! Will do!
What lb line and leader you got on ?
Thanks for watching and subscribing! I used 20 lb braid and a 15 lb monofilament leader.
Love it ,keep it up...
Thanks!
It’s hard for me to whip them out far, how do I add some extra weight and what baitcaster a do you recommend for saltwater that are under 100
Before we do that let’s check your rod and reel. Honestly it sounds like an issue with your reel. What kind are you using?
My gear recommendations are at gear.KayakFishingAddict.com but I haven’t found a great baitcaster under $100 that will hold up to saltwater (yet). The best thus far is 2.5 times that price.
@@KayakFishingAddict rn I’m using a 4000 size spinning and 7ft rod combo and I’m sure there’s some good baitcaster out there
4000 is a decent size. What are the specs on your rod. It should tell you the range for the lure size it can throw. Also what line size are you using?
@@KayakFishingAddict medium action and 20 mono
good luck man,subbed.
Appreciate it! Thanks for watching!
Hey there! I’m local to the area you fish but I won’t give any details! Lol just got a kayak any pointers??
LOL...it's ok to be anonymous I guess...the number one pointer is to get out there and use it :). You live near a great fishery and there's plenty of waters to explore! That said, if you have a more specific question I'll be happy to answer it. Tight lines!
so when I'm back there in the marsh is it worth going down the smaller "hallway" creeks or try to find the bigger open area??@@KayakFishingAddict
Where are you from/what state and region you like to fish?
Northeast Florida
JMO if your wanting Red Fish ,, try to get the 3DS in a gold color ,,, Trout like that silver ,, Red Fish like the gold ,, was the 3DS you were throwing the 2 3/4" size bait ,, I know it comes in a 4" also ,, how was the casting distance you were getting out of the 3DS bait ? That was a really nice trout :)
Thanks for the color tip. The lure in the video is the 3.5" version (90 mm). I found that casting was good with it, not as good as the Mirrolure Catch 2K type baits, but still good.
@@KayakFishingAddict I fish a lot at night ,, pretty much had to stop throwing any lure with gold in it ,, would catch more Reds and less trout ,, when I threw bright or silver sided lures ,, would catch more trout ,,
@@lvsaltwater That's really good to know. I've never fished at night from my kayak. Perhaps the combination of extremely low light conditions with those colors does something to attract each type of fish. In the daylight, the electric chicken colors tend to attract more trout and less reds, but both still bite it.
@@lvsaltwater Gold is a killer at night. I've catch smaller mutton snappers at night on a gold spoon. Gold works really well in low water visibility conditions.
So, help me out. Which one do you prefer? The Yo-Zuri 3D Inshore Twitchbait Mullet or the DOA CAL Figi Chix Paddle Tail?
The 3-D
Nice!
Mullet twitch
Yep
That was fun! You should do this professionally!
Thanks for your words of encouragement!
