I really liked seeing this type of maintenance done. I applaud the "no tool left behind" way of thinking. Good video AvE, I mean Dave.

Love this saw. I have it and use all my brushless tools in full house remodel and they work great.

Perfect time posting this. One of my Dewalt impacts has been sparking and smoking and I’m 95% sure it’s cause of dust and gunk in the motor. Want to take it apart and try to fix it myself but wasn’t sure how to. Might give it a shot now

I can see you getting a good quality air tank, and using different inflators including *Ryobi* to test the pressure capability and have an air supply to blow off surfaces, and clean tools, ECT...

You don't have to cut the boot off. It will stretch over the blade release, and on the other knob that turns, just start the pin out from the small end, then turn it around and pull it out from the opposite side to remove the knob. It takes a little effort, but I was able to get mine off. I didn't have much choice, the blade locking mechanism broke and had to be replaced, it was either fix it or pitch it.

Hey David, you should buy a can of the WD40 Specialist Contact Cleaner. It's for cleaning electrical components, it dries clean without residue. It's great for cleaning tools.

Great video hoss , I personally use Milwaukees 12 & 18 volt cordless tools for work. What makes this video a standout from others is that YOU took the tool apart and cleaned it out and most likely extended its life cycle a lot longer.
I remember when I took apart my first cordless tool to replace the brushes...I was petrified that I would not be to get it back together.
It's crazy the amount of crud that you find in your corded and cordless tools. It never hurts to take a blower to blow out all of the goo that gets sucked in through the air intake holes but never makes it out.
I'll say it again....don't be afraid to service your own tools if possible. BTW , that rubber boot will come off.....🤔

You should be using protection. When a Hilti screws a Ryobi saw, you could end up with Kobalt circular saw or worse, a Black and Decker dust buster.

Is the brushless worth the extra 50 bucks over the p516 brushed version? After 3 years of use the output shaft broke on my 516 and I'm debating if it's worth it or not. Also I see they have a p519 version now that is brushed but I can't find out much about it except it has a shorter stoke than the 516/517 but has 3200spm like the 517.

The way to disassemble my fuel sawzall is start by removing the switch levers on the front boot then yank boot off. How I do, is think how would they add screws in the factory. The boot is put on last and took off first, I think.

@@ManCaverTools Hello , it's a two man job , try heating it up a bit , then peel it from the back , but first take off the shoe , then the plate , and shuld be careful when the rubber comes to tool relese lever. One shud hold the tool by the handle , while you peel the rubber, it's the same on most of the recip saws , AC or DC. btw , I'm the service man for ryobi , milwaukee and aeg , but also servicing most of the tool brands , if you have any question , feel free to ask, be glad tohelp
