    Thanks for the review. I just ordered one off eBay and it's due the day before Christmas. I put off watching this video fearing a bad or mixed opinion. I am very much relieved. Thanks Chuck.

    Well done PM Chuck. Really love it. Ya reckon you would review the PXS3000

      That's definitely coming soon! Once I receive a PX-S3000 and become comfortably familiar with it, there will definitely be a PX-S3000 review!

    Do the keys click a lot? That is super annoying to me and I’m looking for a keyboard that doesn’t make that clicking sound.

    Chuck,if I may ask, what did you mean after you set the board for a light touch, there was another setting to make the touch equal. You set that to light also. What was that second light setting?

    Thanks PMC! Do you have reviews coming up for the Casio CDP-S350? I'm wondering how it compares with the PX-S series.

    • @kellydean5548
      @kellydean5548 5 років тому

      Small Ineffective Groups Of Criminals that sounds about right. We have a piano lab of PX-350’s they’ve served us well but we’ve lost one due to motherboard failure so I’m not sure how long we have before the next fatality. We bought a CGP-700BK based largely off of PMC’s review, and it’s been a big success. We also found a used PX-360, that’s a popular one as well. I just need some kind of flow chart to figure out all these Casio options!

    • @PianoManChuck
      @PianoManChuck  5 років тому +1

      No reviews coming for the CDP-S350 because that's a European model. Guitar Center has an exclusive on it in the USA. Even dealers (like me) can't get a hold of one unless we buy it from Guitar Center... and that's NOT going to happen! Not sure how long GC's exclusivity is....

    • @Headhunter3k
      @Headhunter3k 5 років тому +3

      The CDP series does not have all the acoustic simulation features like hammer response, pedal noise and so on. Also: the Chordana app does not run via Bluetooth, only USB. That means you can either have Chordana app or MIDI over USB, but not both at the same time. That's a huge bummer for me, especially as I wanted to use the piano as Master keyboard with my DAW. I am currently favoring the good old FP30 from Roland with a decent software piano like keyscape. It has real Bluetooth (the app can be connected through BT), the acoustic simulation features come from the software and the FP30 has a nice key action (PHA IV with ivory key feel and even with pressure point simulation that even the Casio Privia keyboards don't have).

    Hi Chuck,
    I bought this piano after seeing your review. I am delighted with it. I am still learning at age 62 but would like to delve deeper into experiencing new different piano sounds.
    Can this piano work as a controller? I use an IK Multimedia keys i/o 49 for practice.
    Will GarageBand and Sampletank work with this piano using midi?
    I am considering buying iGrand for iPad, but would like to know if it is compatible.
    I am a bit unsure of setting it up,
    Can you help?
    Thanks
    Regards
    Bob

    • @BassManDan1018

      I narrowed things down to the Kawai and the PXS1000. The Kawai is meant to be a tremendous sounding digital piano but it didn’t have a USB out and to be honest, it just looked a bit dated and chunky (similar to the P125). Unfortunately I have to be size conscious living in an apartment. The P125 looks solid as a rock (as you’d expect from Yamaha) with some cool sounds (particularly liked the DX sample) and very versatile (stereo line out and USB) but again, it’s a big old clunky looking thing. Roland FP series look great but was a write off as I’ve heard terrible things about clicky keys and also there’s no stereo outs? With the headphone jack being the only output on the FP10 (on the back might I add) and speakers on the bottom, seemed a bit silly when I could get a Casio with higher output speakers, L/R line outs, USB capabilities and in a similarly slick slimline look.
      It’s been a real challenge weighing up the options, and I’ve gone for something aesthetically pleasing with the most capabilities (ie. USB out, stereo L/R out, app connectivity etc). Judging from reviews it’s also good some solid samples and a good action.

      @@BassManDan1018 Man, forgot leaving this comment a year ago, went with Casio due to the ports and the audio input for use in playing Garritan CFX and being able to feel it through the keys. Reusing the speaker is a big plus, the action is a downside, but it works for what it is; at least it’s weighted.

    Hi Chuck,
    I've seen probably all the most significant reviews on this piano and made my final decision about the purchase keeping in mind your thoughts on this instrument ;)
    Unfortunately I had to send my piano back as I found that on all of the acoustic piano sounds, the sound isn't getting damped when played short (staccato) on keys from the F#6 and up the Bb7 (or maybe till the end of the keyboard). The person from the music store is telling me, that it is usual for pianos to act like this (he also said, that he compared it to a hybrid piano they have in store), but I'm not convinced it can sound such dramatically/obviously different, as you can really hear the difference between the damped sound of the F6 key (and all other keys from the F6 down the keyboard) and the audibly sustaining sound of all the keys from the F#6 and up. All the other sounds are fine.
    Have you experienced such an issue with this piano?
    Neither I experience with the acoustic pianos nor with the digital ones, further so I can not related to this issue:( I'm waiting for the music store to compare it to the sound of Casio PX-S3000, as I've heard it has the same piano sounds...
    Any possible comment on this issue?

    • @langhamp8912
      @langhamp8912 5 років тому

      I used to have two acoustical uprights, and they both do not have dampers at F and above, that is, the long pad thing that you use the right pedal to press against the strings ends around that F.
      Going to my Casio 870, the F keeps ringing, while the below keys don't. Seems to me that one should be able to specify damping on all, one, or any key, but nonsuch option can be found in the manual.

    What does chordana actually do aside from what you said? Can it act like the screens of say - korg kronos? Does it function like that, where you can choose the pianos, choose the instruments, change some eqs etc?

      @PianoManChuck  5 років тому

    Thanks for the demo! Does seem like an amazing portable 88 key piano for the price. I like the automatic bass split too.
    I do have to say that most of the other voices outside of the piano sound pretty lame in this vid. How much is the 3000? Seems worth some extra bucks just to get some better additional sounds in the unit.

    • @PianoManChuck
      @PianoManChuck  5 років тому +1

      PX-S3000 is $799 USD. Has 700 voices, a display screen, expression pedal input, USB "A" port (for USB thumb drives), 2 additional knobs (programmable), and much more programmable than the PX-S1000. If you're in the mainland USA, see my website for a better price.

      I'm in the same boat, trying to decide between the 1000 or the 3000. I'm almost leaning towards the 1000, because damage or stealing a keyboard is always the greatest danger.

    :( i was seriously looking at the pxs models. Good thing you mentioned it wouldn't be good for a visually impared person. Are there any 88 keyboards in the $600-$900 range with 1. Actual buttons and 2. A decent ammount of sounds? If it helps the styles of music i'd be using it for would be metal and industrial dance music.

    Hi. What is the point of the audio in? you only say you can hook up and play music thru the speakers. Why would you want to do that? Can this be done and the keyboard be played at the same time. If so great, but you dont make this clear.
