In Korea, we call it Honey Bread and it’s often served with whipped cream or ice cream (great minds!) on top and syrup. So satisfying to have it with a cup of black americano. 🤤
That sounds absolutely delicious, especially with the Americano!
I kinda want to go savory with that and make some garlic bread. That bread is so soft and fluffy inside! 🤤
Oh man, a soft pillowy garlic bread would be SO good with this loaf!
I'm going to try this with brioche bread ❤
Sounds great! I hope you enjoy it! 💖
I’m in the middle of making my loaf at the moment. I proofed it overnight in the fridge and now it’s shaped and having its final proof before baking. I’ve done a variation, one of third rolls I covered in a layer of cinnamon, sugar with a little bit of softened unsalted butter before folding and rolling. My son saw the clip advertised on UA-cam and asked me to make it for him. We lived in Hong Kong where there are a lot of Japanese style bakeries and milk bread was his favourite thing.
Oh that sounds absolutely delightful!
Jemma - whip some cream and add some fruit - oh and maple syrup to up the ante - this looks DIVINE
YES
Haha! I haven’t heard that since I was a child! “Crust makes your hair curly”! Cute! This looks AMAZING! ❤
LOL is it not true 👀😂
I don't understand the logic behind that saying.
That looks absolutely delicious!
Mmmmm, looks fantastic!
So, I'm the one who said I use milk bread for their rolls. WHAT if you used the honey butter as the roll filling.....then you could make a creme anglaise for dipping as opposed to a frosting or icing for them?? Boom! You'd have your ice cream sandwich anyone regardless of teeth sensitivity could enjoy. I wonder if that could work?? 🤔
Sounds delish! Would love to try but I can’t bake to save my life
I'm sure that would absolutely work and tbh, I really want to eat that 😂👌🏼
@@CupcakeJemma I'm off work from the boring job today. I kinda wish now I had made a batch of dough last night to test this out. 😁
You are so entertaining to watch. I've been a fan of yours since the beginning still as great to watch!
You're the best! 💖
Made this today and i top it off with some cream cheese, blueberries, and maple syrup. Super yummy!
That sounds delicious!!
I love seeing your cake making a lot
Thanks so much 😊
I was thinking about ice cream sandwiches, but since you mentioned them at the end, I’ll suggest using this bread for a ham and cheese sandwich or a patty melt (which is a cheeseburger on grilled bread for those who aren’t familiar). Excellent video, Jemma!!! Your fried doughnut video from years ago is currently at the top of my cooking To Do list!!!
A patty melt with this bread would be 10/10!
Looks amazing! I am going to make this tomorrow.
Cupcake Jemma is art! 😍
Had old homemade French bread that needed to be used, so I whipped some up for breakfast, me and my wife love it!!!
I’m defiantly gonna make this
Omg I just tried it with my last slice of toast I had around.
Omg its so delicious.
Imagine adding custard cream, cream cheese and fruits... Omg love it
Sounds like a delicious, indulgent breakfast 😍
Looks absolutely amazing, delicious and tempting, Loved it 🥰❤❤
Thank you so much 😊
I seen it I love it do much thank you very much Jemma may you grow more the lord bless your family
I went to Arome bakery earlier this month and this was one of the best things I've eaten. I brought a loaf of shokupan from Chinatown then brought it back home to recreate however I don't think the slices were thick enough to have the same effect. Thank you for sharing these recipes I'm definitely going to try and make this myself!
The extra crunchy failure was eaten with ice cream and not wasted.
We love Arôme Bakery SO much
Aah you’re so true to your word Jemma looks delicious I’ve not really been successful making bread I guess I’ll have to keep practicing thankyou Jemma ❤️😊
Practice makes perfect! It gets easier, I promise!
Looks Amazing!! Please please re-create their vanilla chocolate brioche, especially their filling is amazing 😍🫢
Tried the honey butter toast recently and it has inspired me to make shokupan... currently proving in the fridge. Thank you for the recipe, i'll try this out too 😊
I hope you love it!!
I made it, it was a 10/10. Thanks!
Glad you liked it!
Oh yeah, that look so yummy 😋! Must try it! 💖
Hope you enjoy!
Easy recipe? Put butter on 1 side of your bread of choice, sprinkle with white or brown sugar, put in oven on Broil until golden brown. OR butter 1 side of bread, put in oven on Broil until golden brown, add honey to the top & eat. Both are delicious n super easy. I thought that's what this vid was gonna be when I first read the title 😊
This looks like cartoon toast from heaven! I'm inspired to have a go at the bread/toast recipe myself! :D
Haha it tastes like that too!
Those were a bit disappointing. Bread was fine, but when I made the toast, the outer coating was only crunchy around the crust. While it passed what Chef John calls the "fork test," the white bread part was more chewy than crisp on the outside, if that makes sense. Not sure how to trouble shoot that. I tried a second round, spreading the paste more thinly, but didn't really change anything. UPDATE: Ha! What do I know? I took them to work and everybody told me "Save that recipe." One woman came to me in tears to thank me for making them, saying it reminded her of her childhood. So there you go. I stand corrected.
Sort of like making a grilled cheese sandwich golden brown and crunchy, you want a slightly lower temp for longer and then you want to take take them out and flip them onto a rack to cool so they don't steam underneath and become soft.
Just in the spirit of scientific inquiry... hypothetically, if anyone wondered if, faced with a snack emergency, you could do this with a piece of whole wheat supermarket sandwich bread, I can confirm it does not explode or anything and is quite delicious. I imagine the thicker bread isn't just for the fluffiness, I'm sure it balances out the intense sweetness better.
Yum! Need to make this. I bet adding some cinnamon or nutmeg or cardamom would be delicious too!
I have no words.🤤🤤
I bet Texas Toast would be a quick cheat for this treat
A nice way for me to use a little bit left of my 1.5kg shokupan I make. Thanks for the nice dessert idea and would love more like this
Sounds like a great idea!
We've been doing this for a long time. Butter then brown sugar then toasted in a pan. We do this because we don't have budget to buy jams or other spreads when we we're small kids way back. (Philippines)
Looks absolutely amazing, definitely shouldn't be making those for a breakfast/brunch but I will. 😂
Haha a little treat every now and then won't hurt 😏
Shokupan is also what's used for Hong Kong-style French toast, would love to see you guys try and make it!
Yummy 🤤
Get well soon
We need a double baked pistachio raspberry croissant pleaseeee
I am new here, really lovely video. I need to try that out.
Welcome to the gang! 💖
I made it by pan frying it and it is better than
Looking forward to using that spread recipe on some challah bread from a baker friend
YES!
Hi ! Did you bake it with or without fan?
Not sure what Jemma did hers on, but I did non fan in a Pullman tin and it came out beautiful 🍞😋
I would just melt the butter honey sugar mixture and dip the bread in it. Same result.
Maple syrup and cinnamon instead of the honey would be my go to.
Desperate to eat this but I’m gluten free so trying to decide if the bread recipe would work GF 😬 or what the best GF bread would be to add the topping to! 🤷🏼♀️
I see this with camembert cheese, garlic confit and rosemary
If you are in America you can buy Texas toast bread for this if you can't find milk bread
I would take the honey out 😊
But it adds such a lovely flavour! You do you though!
❤
ok, making these in the morning. bread is ready to go!
Woohoo! Enjoy 😊
@@CupcakeJemma even the cat enjoyed it 😻
This is delicious. However, I was expecting to it to come out of the oven crispy...noooo..... I baked and baked it about double the time until it was vaguely crispy. Then I realised that it goes crispy when it cools. The coating is essentially a caramel that hardens as it cools. It's best eaten cold.
I’m lazy, so I just bought a couple of loaves of shokupan and will make the honey butter to go on it. 😅🤣🤣
That is a plan and tbh, I rate it. Why make the bread if you don't need to!
🌿🌷🌼🌷🌿
We need a recipe for toast with honey
Well Shelle, I think we might just have the recipe for you.. 👀
170° C? Or F?
celsius
I love you
I like straight hair though 😭
Haha!
It's nice but way too sweet..I cut the sugar and honey in half and its still too sweet..
IT L👀KS SO DRY THOUGH,
IT DEFINITELY NEEDS A DRIZZLE & HEAP OF SOMETHING.
If this is a "very, very easy bread", what's a difficult bread?
And here I thought an easy bread was flour, water, salt and yeast...
This is true - a lot of people are a bit intimidated making bread - what may be super simple to some, might be quite difficult to others!
Toasted with your daughter? How did you cook your daughter though? 😬
LOL obviously no Eden's were harmed - she had toast.. she wasn't toasted!
First.
