    I have not done so yet,but I put the wire is supposed to go,also,a fellow UA-camr taught me something,not all coat hanger wire is made the same either,this also if qc did poor heat treatment or bad source of steel,could be multiple things,not just the gap,if you what I'm saying,I'm not saying not to switch the cutters to close the gap,but I've not had any issues with my Arc since December,I love it to pieces as it is so far,I may add a T-shank adapter to it

    Going to get the arc soon, you can see that the arc cutters has a rounded corner compared to the p4, hope just a manufacturer issue, they need to adress, a good easy fix though, leatherman should send a new set out to customers who have bought them until they fix the issue.

    The gap is so useful tho I use it to strip wire, put the wire right to the back squeeze then strip with the awl, as long as you know to bring the stress wire further forward you’re totally fine

    I have a batch 005. Do you know if it suffers from the same cutter issue?

  • @LosRiji

    They shift backwards when you are using it as well. You can "fix" them by unscrewing and put them in the most forward Position but as soon as cutting starts it shifts

    No you can not just buy new wire cutters because you will just get same rounded edges cutters. Leatherman uses new wire cutters for all newly produced multitools not just Arc. You can simply not put wire all the way back when you cutting and that is the easiest solution.

      In the diagram it shows hardwire cutter all way back. Please explain that?

      @igorstef 8 місяців тому +1

      I ordered replacement cutters myself and received a version with rounded corners so I know it from first hand. Also menu people reporting having rounded cutters on recently bought Leathermans (not just ARC).

      @@igorstefyes I heard the garage 005 has it as well. But what is that hole meant for? Wire stripper! No. It says on the back of the diagram of the arc that it is meant for hard wire

      @@appleztooranges Not sure why Leatherman changed the design of it (maybe to reduce the risk of pliers binding when cutters deform) but it is not only on garage 005. People are reporting rounded cutters on recently bought P4 or even Wave +.

      My Wave+ I bought a couple months ago has the big gap as well. Now that that has been brought to my attention from all these videos, I would definitely prefer the older style cutters.

    **Leatherman Arc wire cutters. Did you have a diamond gap on yours 😮 I guess the older wire cutters are more square and these are more chamfered creating them to fail on hard wire task

      I have on a new black Surge with molle sheath but its not a big deal because it can cut hard wires behind the pliers head.
      I have not this problem on Black&Silver Surge and on a former (given away) regular silver Surge.

    The profile ("Footprint") of the cutters, old and new, is identical. What's messed up about the Arc's batch is the screw hole location. With calipers, it's an obvious difference in the hole centering.
