- In today's scrapbook layout I walk you through my thought process as I design this double page 6x8 scrapbook layout featuring the Good Life collection from Close to My Heart. I will share my thoughts on photo placement and patterned paper selection while sharing scrapbooking tips along the way.

I think your son's girlfriend will love this. This is a gift that is priceless.
I agree, scrapbook are priceless and always work the you don't quite know what to get them.
I love the color pallet and prints of that paper pack too. UUUU love the layout with 'life is a beautiful ride.' Old trucks are the best! The soft coral/peach embellishments add so much. Lovely layout.

HI Mary, this is a great gift size as they tend to come together much more quickly than a 12x12.

I think my favorite thing about 6x8 layouts is how quickly you can create them. Squirrel!!! 🐿️ 😂

Love your layout. I had an epiphany while watching your video. My teenager went on a class trip last Spring to Chicago. He graduates this Spring, and I think I may scrapbook his Chicago trip in 6x8 size, to go with his school album in 12x12. Then, he can share the albums at his grad party that we are planning to host this summer. (So weird that my baby has grown up. Just yesterday, it seems, we were going to Preschool Open House.)
Thank you, that sounds like an awesome ideas! This is a great size for trips like that and he will love it. You are starting with plenty of time to get it done also. I feel the same way when I look at my mine, what happened and where did my little sweet boys go?

What the Highland??? I got a quick glimpse of the Highland cow stamps. My son raises Highlands. I've gotta have those!!
Highland cattle are the cutest! You definitely need that stamp in your stash. I had to have it and didn't even have a good reason 😂

Is it possible to show the albums you made for the girls? Like a flipthrough? I've never scrapbooked so small, always do 12 x 12. I would lobe to see the album you used as well as the final product. Only if its possible❤
This layout is very cute. I lobe how you just plop an embellishment down and it fits. You said its your favourite part- thats my worst part. I cannot make clusters for the life of me.
Hello Cindy, keep practicing your clusters. I know we can all easily overthink them and spend a lot of time staring at the possibilities. I would love to show a flip through but I'd have to get the books back from the girls. This album I just started but there are quite a few layouts done in my older son's girlfriend's book. I will make note to ask her one of these days.

Love this Erin! I do 8x8 albums for special occasions & gifts. I’m thinking I can use the 6x8 sketchbook to help me along & just tweak the measurements a bit.
Thank you! 8x8 is the one size I have not tried yet. I do like the look of a square page and imagine the 6x8 layouts would be easy to adjust. My friend and I were just crafting and she used an 8.5x11 sketch and stretched it to a 12x12 and it worked great!

These are so cute! And you're lucky that your sons want you to scrapbook their life, my grandkids aren't really into it. But I think some day they'll appreciate it. Also, is there an 8.5 X 11 sketchbook? I still use that size way more than 12 X 12.
I agree, someday your grandkids will love looking back at all the photos and appreciate the love that went into scrapbooking them. I am thankful but my son didn't give me much notice when he asked for layouts to give his girlfriend for Christmas. Good thing the 6x8 comes together much quicker!
I love the layout! Has the blade on your small photo trimmer ever gotten dull?
Thank you! No the little blade hasn't gotten dull, the bigger Fiskars with the little sliding orange blade dulls quickly but not the mini photo trimmer.

Sketchbooks are a great tool to remove some of the decision making process and help you scrapbook faster. I do not always use a sketch but sometimes they are a great jumping off point. It helps you know what size to print your photos and trim the paper down. Many crafters enjoy the design process while othesr tend to feel a little stuck and enjoy a sketch to get them going.
