A view from the UK. Igor, i've just finished binge watching all 5 episodes and loved it. I particularly loved your sailing "tutorials" given in an easy to understand way. But i've got to tell you as a non sailor, i always thought sailors were permanently trying to go as fast as they can. Having watched your videos i'm so wrong. You just love to cruise within yours and the boats capacity. Your enthusiasm, skill and experience are so obvious even i would crew for you. Great work, keep 'em coming.

@@pietrolux I would definitely say yes. Even the the 51 would be suitable and the 65 is much larger. Don't know about its performance as a sailing yacht but see no problem as a blue water yacht for round the world trips. There's enough room for a large family or multiple families. Search for some walk-through videos of the 65, it's crazy how much space is on that model.
@@pietrolux would think the 51 would be fine for that - it has 4 double cabins! The Neel 65 is huge...

Sargassum is edible, it's harvested to feed livestock too, and you can fry, boil, steam or dry it. It's played a part in Chinese medicine as far back as the 8th century, treating goiters (high iodine content) - and made into tea to control phlegm.

Great series of films Igor. Thanks for putting this trip on video and sharing. As always your insight derived through experiencing other sailing boats adds a great deal of context to every one of the films that you make. Here is a thought... Why don't you put together a "Best of..." series using the clips that you already have and comparing the features and benefits of the various sailboats that you have experienced?

You've done an excellent job communicating precisely what people want to know; that's an innate skill.
With the low drag nature, but loaded down, cruising nature of the Neel 51, having that large down wind sail set up would have made life easy and relatively quick. I do wonder about larger sails/mast.

FYI i understand birds can fly huge distances and whenever they need to take a break from flying they just land on the water and chill for a few moments

Wow, great trip. And what a wonderful vessel. That seems a better mouse trap than a Cat! I like it. I have made this-9 kind of passages on my older 44 foot Peterson Cutter. Wow the space and stability are wonderful. We had a 39 foot waterline and plenty of sail so 7-9 kts pretty normal in the trades. The weed is Sargasso weed and most do knot realize that it is edible. Just so you avoid any blue green algae. Raw or cooked. Also often small crabs and fish inside. Love the modern and capable radar. Good for you for practicing celestial. I use to teach it in a planetarium. A great place to learn the concepts. And then practicing with an artificial horizon. Great video and wonderful trip on a wonderful vessel.

Igor ,Thanks for sharing your voyages .I like how you explain how the B&G nav-system operates along with the various options and tricks that are available within the system, something other channels don't seem to want to explain. I also like how you point out some of the negatives of each boat design and considering the high end price for these Cats ,you would think the manufactures wouldn't penny pinch at such minor things.

Wow, almost worth watching the video for seeing how easy it is to transfer fuel. I have never seen one like that before! It does seem a little stressful crossing if your short on crew.
3 crew is minimum. But 6 is max.

IGOR great series, we enjoyed watching it very much. Why were your results RTD on the ARC finishing results? Based on the boats you have experienced, which one would you buy without thinking about money?
Thanks! We started 1 day latter on first leg so RTD. Would like to test more boats. Would probably buy aluminum expedition cat or mono.
How fast do you think the Neel could do it? I am very interested in its speed comapred to the fleet.
@@j.scottlaprise6063 If you go light…no generator, no ac, only little diesel in tanks, minimum food and water you will be very fast if you push the boat. You need good crew, big set of sails and not afraid of blowing out your spinakers. It will be very loud and uncomfortable, hard to sleep but a good adventure. You will have two digits speed all the time if lucky with winds.
interesting philosophy and thought process of sailing, it makes thing lower effort... why complicate or try to be more than necessary. it would be nice to see a blue ocean crossing with what you would consider optimum sails, boat, etc. plus an unavoidable storm would be a nice bonus lol. do you have a video like that?
Lagoon 52 from Amsterdam was that kind of trip except no storm as we avoid them. 🙏🍻🙌

How do you feel about the Trimaran for a novice sailor? Would you say it’s too much boat ?
Probably best to start with mono and than multyhulls
The seaweed is called sargassum . It naturally floats while it is alive and then sinks when it dies. When it is alive it provides shelter to small fish etc.. and when it dies it sinks to the ocean floor providing food to ocean life of all sorts .

As Asian countries have the most experience with eating seaweed, most of the approaches have an Oriental spin. Some Sargassums are consumed fresh, others cooked in coconut milk or a little vinegar or lemon juice. It is smoked-dried to preserve it. Sargassum is also eaten by itself or added to fish and meat dishes.

Never sailed saba but saona is very good. It depends from your preferences. The best is to rent and try.
I would suspect the ready meals are prepared in the same way as canned foods where they are sealled hot and kept above 50C for a period to ensure any bacteria is dead. Preservatives might be used to preserve the flavour, but it is unlikely they would be relied upon to keep the food edible.

No. You would need around 3000 liters.
This is amazing sailboat. I bet if you pushed it harder it would make great time. Would work out some chaffing gear for your lines and power wall for storing juice.
Want to test it empty one day.

With floating seaweed, it is no good for you. You can only have fresh seaweed if you cut it, like harvesting tomato or any other vegetable. Dead floating seaweed is the product of bad fishing practices. Seaweed is very healthy for you. Unfortunately big fishing is destroying seaweed fields across the world which has a devastating affect on all aquamarine, a bit like mining and cutting rainforests. Changing subject to the boat, i wish you could have free beer!! Cheers!
