      Not to belittle what you said - cuz doing honorable things in this evil world , is honorable. But for the sake of telling the truth -
      School teaches us to be slaves and to enslave our fellow man, as if it was natural and good. So that noone in school ever sees themselves as being caretakers of nature . Which is what we were designed, built, and originally programmed to do. A man who chooses to make a life of caring for gods critters and the earth, are good men.
      But unfortunately, even the folks who are caretakers of nature, are slaves to whoever pays their hire/ pays them money, , and whoever they pay and or hire is their slave. Noone is free to just care for themselves, their neighbors, and the earth. So even though our profession may be honorable, its tainted by money and the slave bosses.
      The govs are the crime boss slave lords, who enslaved the world, and who are also slaves themselves. Slaves owned and operated by the evil devil satans/ rebel accusers led by the big ACantichrist lucifer.
      In school, noone can see themselves as being anything other than a slave to the govs and whoever hires us - we arnt allowed to see ourselves caring for the earth nor the creations within. Because school is designed to hide our true nature from us, and turn us into oblivious slaves to the devil/ rebellion through the civy lies nations and religions.
      But there is a whole nother 3rd option that they leave off of the table and hide. BUT NOT FOR MUCH LONGER! Our father creator through Yahshua the real christ (our co creator), are fixin to set matters straight.

      @@crystalmadison1898 I don't even know what that means - could mean anything?. I figure your reaction wasn't a good un though. Because noone ever believes us/ el ohim's messengers. Folks reaction to us (/Yahshua the christs foretold last of the last days little flock/the 144,000 of us according to johns revelations ),, is a tradition that goes all of the way back to the 1st ever prophets, Noah and enoch.
      But Im telling you the truth. The world has been enslaved by evil masters, and folks enslave each other. Because of how school and tell lie vision programs folks.
      But those days are coming to a end now. The end is here, rather than near. So Yahshua sent us out to tell yall his name, and to tell yall the truth.
      So that yall will know what it is when yall see it, and know who to turn to when it all goes down. CUZ ITS ALL GOING DOWN NOW, AND A GREAT AWAKENING IS COMING REAL SOON, upon Yahshuas return.

    Did a 13 mile walk today and part way along, the gate I needed to get through was blocked by a group of inquisitive cattle (a mix I think) and found myself looking at their feet and had the feeling one or two could do with a trim - would never have expected to be thinking about such things even a year ago.
    After a few minutes, I judged I was going to be alright around them, got through the gate, and parted a way through them.
    Keep up the good work.

      If you ever come across a group of cattle again, please don't do this. Their benign mood can turn in a second, even farmers have been badly injured or killed by their own herd. They are especially skittish when they have young or if an unfamiliar dog is involved. Enjoy your HGP walks but please look after yourself.

    • @ojonasar
      @ojonasar 2 роки тому +18

      @@ruthgriffiths7365 Thanks for the concern. There were about a dozen or so and I think they ended up there because the farmer had been around the gate a few minutes earlier - had seen him in the distance as I was walking. They looked relatively young and had stroked a few on the head. Waited a few minutes, opened the gate and got through and went sideways, so only a few needed to move to let me through - perhaps 8 feet and I was clear.
      I spent the first year and a half living on a dairy farm as a kid when my family moved to this country and have been around cows many times on numerous walks that I’ve done over the years. It’s funny how UA-cam came to bring these videos up.

That's a really serious problem - much MUCH more serious than what she has. I am really interested in this answer: Does an extreme block combo like this impact the Cow's rear hips at all over time? I imagine this block is going to be on there for quite some time to get the treatment done right, but I'd also imagine that's going to cause hip problems--even if just temporary. I'm curious if that's something considered here or if Cow hips are more resilient?

    Please show us when you next see her, whether there's anything else you can do or not. It would be nice to see her just used to the blocks and being out of the worst of the pain. Of course, seeing the effectiveness of the spray, too!
    I do have some questions. Would she benefit from the bad claw being amputated?
    And do cows who need long-term/permanent use of a block on one side, particularly at their rear, stand a greater chance of getting arthritis or similar in their later life? (I know that many farmers will send their girls "to market" when they can no longer breed, but others are more able to keep the "retirees", so some can reach a natural end.)
    As someone with a wonky spine who has to use two crutches or a walker to keep upright and in less pain than if I only use the one crutch (occasionally a necessary evil), seeing them walk lopsided like that makes me feel like their vertebrae just above the pelvic area - the cow's lumbar region (as they're vertebrates and mammals like us, I assume it's the same thing? If not, their equivalent of it) - are going to be grating together over time. I literally feel that because that's what happens with me as I no functioning discs in my spine: sometimes I can actually feel a few rubbing against each other, and it can hurt a _lot_ on occasion. Seeing them walk like that has me thinking about that every time.
    Thanks for another excellent video!

    • @samallen601
      @samallen601 2 роки тому +15

      I'm not Graham but I may be able to awsner some of your questions. 1. Amputation is something that does happen to cows but generally in the case of irreversible infection in the claw, it has a big effect on the animals, is quite painful and is really a last resort. It would also be done by a vet not Graham as it is a big procedure. 2. The block is generally a temporary solution to take weight of the bad claw, Graham has used it differently here, but I'd imagine it would still be temporary and no risk of arthritis. 3. Again the block is a temporary solution that falls off after some time so I wouldn't say the cow would feel much effect from this.

      It usually depends on how productive the cow is and if they can get another calf out of her. If not, then it's a nasty, scary end for her, sadly.

    It’s a shame there’s not much to do for that cow in the long run, but at least at the end she seems a little more comfortable, and hopefully with regular tending, that overgrown foot won’t be quite so painful.

    Loved my job .I used to be a 3rd shift manager for a large bulk mailing facility for a division of the US Post Office for 15 yrs .Then I broke a vertebrae in my lower back at 21 and was diagnosed with Spondylolisthesis,which is a birth defect that is hereditary by a gene ..I went back to work many times but each time got shorter and shorter between surgeries and disability.and Not being able to earn enough to take care of my son and myself .😢😊enough of that .I love watching your videos and others passion for what you do .Lately people are so sad,angry ,hurt and fear within the world that love of anything is ahard to see ? Not with Hoof Gp all about positivity thank you for that 😊.❤

    I have a question...when you put a block on a cow's good claw, does the good claw then get bruised because of the extra pressure it now has to deal with that should have been going to the problematic claw?
    Also maybe someday you could dedicate an entire video to questions.

    • @julzcarpenter5431
      @julzcarpenter5431 2 роки тому +2

      I would imagine that because he’s trimmed and balanced the good claw, the block won’t cause any pressure as much as it will spread the weight, so doing the job it was intended to do.

      he's mentioned in some older videos that yes, that is an issue. since the blocks are a temporary measure, a hoof that's already healthy wont be too bruised in this time frame, though I believe it would cause further issues if the block had to be on longer (reoccurring injury etc).
      what happens when both claws are bad is he uses a horeshoe-type block on the less probelamitc claw and the curved shape keeps the pressure off the worst of the injury.
      however there was one video when he had no other choice than to put the block on a bad claw and hope that the other claw healed in time for the next visit when he'd swap the bock over. (cant remember which video though)

    I know a few others have asked similar questions, but I'm going to ask as well. ;) Given that you are not able to fix or heal the issue, and given that the bone itself is enlarged due to infection, is there anything that a vet could do to stop the continued overgrowth and try to rebalance things so that she can be more pain-free going forward? I know horses with ankle issues can be put in specialty shoes to help, but not truly fix the issue, and I'm just curious what options are there for cows who don't wear shoes regularly. (Dang hippies... ;) kidding...)

It’s fascinating, educational, and I love the way you treat and think of the cattle as feeling, intelligent creatures, and not just the job that makes your income. I think this cow showed you respect by holding off until you released her from the crush. If she really needed to go, she would have, even with the hoof held up and you working on it.

    Well, I watch you as much as I can. This cow when let out of the crush was somewhat unsure but a few steps later it dawned on her the answer to her walk. No doubt further on she will get used to it. My one concern is how will she go when walking on the spongy grass land? We can but wait and see but at least the infection is on the way out. Well done, your love of your clients and your good eye is a credit to you. Pity more humans don't have a bit of your passion and love for what you do. Stay safe to you and yours and your apprentice.
