I have fond memories of taking the Bathurst Streetcar from 1982-1986. I was a U of T student and a reservist officer in The Royal Regiment of Canada at Fort York Armoury. Bathurst Streetcar was my way of travelling to and from the Armoury.
Im not sure when streetcar service ended north of Bloor. But TTC had not intended a return of service due to the steep hill north of Davenport, which would be problematic when fully loaded.
This is a funny coincidence. I was watching back some of your videos last night and you mentioned the Bathurst streetcar in one of them and i thought to myself 'i wonder what the 511s history was like". Here we are lol
Would be cool but Dufferin and Jane have higher ridership that could support a streetcar service. Yes I say streetcar service because LRT is just political speak for a streetcar in semi separate lanes.
My favourite rides were taking the 511 from Bathurst station to St. Clair, up that steep hill. It happened when they were adding St. Clair cars for rush hour. I don't know if they still do that.
