As a many decades-long aficionado and performer of John Denver and his music, it thrills me to no end to see this tribute to your father! It's also proof positive to me, John's music will live on through prior generations, just because it's great music! Thank you for this!
All round beautiful cover of this song and sentiment to go with it. This song played at my father’s wake 11 years ago- on a loop- for the people waiting in line. Many came to me later and said the entire experience moved them.
What a wonderful daughter. Speaking as a dad with two grown daughters myself, it was nice to see the respect and love she has for her father. Good job Dad. And this is one of many great John Denver songs.
Wow, I wasn't expecting that voice, Jamie. But the deepness of it serves you well. It brought me to tears when John Denver sang it and it brought tears to me today. I wish I could say-as you did-it was devoted to my dad. My dad was a Jazz musician back in the 1930's/early '40's and though he went through military and then a number of careers (at which he was pretty much always successful), but he never wanted to marry of have any kids. And through the '60's, his parties and friends were all about Jazz. In his older years, he had some non-Jazz friends and played cards and the like, but he'd've been happy with weekends in Vegas, the daily ritual of 5o'clock high balls & a woman or TV. He was very much from a much older time and survival never left his mind. Anyway, before he died, I wrote and produced a song-rock and roll-and he surprised me by saying: "not bad". Obviously a Jazz musician would never see rock as anything other than a 3 chord progression...and not much else. So I guess my advice to those out there who may have suffered similar pains, I would tell you to follow your dreams (as Jamie is doing) and follow your passions, if only for as long as they last. It's ok to do different things, chase various dreams, you can live life fast or slow, just be sure to live it! My own life is nearing it's end, but I can at least say I gave it my best shot. I try to help the environment, I tried to help some social causes, and when all of that looked wasted, I took on a family for some 20 years and risked everything to try and make them better...look out for three generations of them. Most importantly, I did give music a try for a few years and came close...it's ok to not go all the way, sometimes, just trying is enough. I wish you good luck with what you are doing. Just singing a song for your father was a tremendously upbeat and loving thing to do.
The best part of this video of how much of a great daughter you are to your dad. He raised you right and you are a daughter that would make any dad proud
I was really moved by your beautiful voice and this song fits your mind giving thanks to your father. I like this song very much, and I have been also John Denver fan for about 50 years since I was 16 years old. I really hope another song😊
It is a wonderful thing to be thankful for one's parents while they're alive. This song was a favorite of my father's. He passed away in December 2021. I'm heading up to Maine on Wednesday to finally spread some of his ashes on a lake next to his hometown. The best thing I can share is my gratitude that we sang together and shared this kind of love while he was alive. When he passed there was nothing left to say except to say "I love you" over and over and it was enough. Everything else had been said, and I am grateful for that. You gave your Dad a beautiful gift with this song. He gave you a beautiful gift by introducing you to this song. I hope you are able to embrace how lucky you are and seize every moment you have together. On a side note, this was also beautifully performed. :) The last time Dad and I sang this, we were driving together into the city and it was raining. We changed the words to "Raindrops on my shoulders make me soggy...." Dads are the best.
My dad passed away jan 21, I found an old cassette of him playing guitar and singing this and he sounded so amazing! Any time I hear John Denver I have a hard time.
This performance of this young lady is so honest and innocent- It just blows a nice breeze of good side of human effortlessly. We just need this expression of love and care - needed much more in this day and age.
God bless you and protect you wherever you go. Your father can be proud of how well he took care of you. All the best to you and your family. Me too , thanks to your father , well done very well . God bless you
Very well done! Handled those bar chords well! This song will mean more to you as you get older. Would love to hear your version of 'Poems, Prayers, and Promises'.
Hi,young lady, that was absolutely amazing, I really enjoyed your cover of John's song. I was lucky enough to see John Denver twice live in concert, over here in Scotland, I'm sure John is looking down and smiling. And I'm sure your dad is very proud of you. God bless, peace ✌.
Thank you for, in your simple way and through your words and actions, you have reminded me to honor my parents, as any adult child should do, which in my case, I practically grew up without parents, as their job always took them abroad and I finally got to have more time with them in my early teens when our whole family moved to N.Y. City. In fact, this honoring of parents, should be done while they are still around. This has a reciprocal effect and IMO, makes the world a better place. Please make more vlogs like this. as I feel you may have more to share to the world. You have a cool and calming voice and, I just had to subscribe.
Jamie has interpreted John Denver's hit song "Sunshine On My Shoulders" with sunshine 🌞🌞🌞🌞🌞 beaming upon Jamie's shoulders 💛💛💛💛💛😃😃😃😃😃. Now, that's what I deem to be an extremely clever decision made by Jamie 🤓🤓🤓🤓🤓.
You need to see the movie, Sunshine, he debut this song and 7 others. My BFF and I always laugh about how the movie had us crying on 5 mins into it. It's a sad, but beautiful story. Highly recommend it. Beautiful cover. FYI, you got the meaning perfectly. ❤️❤️❤️❤️👏👏👏👏
Nice studio version! Tell me what you think of my punk band version from 20 years ago. We had fun with it. Sweet dad comments. I'm showing this to my daughter.
