Thanks for the recommendation. Just completed my kitchen ceiling using Benjamin Moore Waterborne Ceiling Paint. I was able to do two coats using only one can. I bought two cans knowing I would need a second coat but to my surprise one can did the trick. I also liked the near zero splatter. I am 66 years old and this is the best ceiling paint I have ever used. Again thanks for taking the time to do this video.
Very helpful! I was struggling to decide which ceiling paint to use and will now go with the Benjamin Moore Waterborne. Nice to know it's available at my local Ace Hardware. Also a great suggestion about getting the 18" rollers. THANK YOU!
Thank you for making this video. Would you recommend this product for textured ceilings (not popcorn, more swirl-like texture). We are trying to minimize the texture with a flat paint. Thanks again.
I have only used it on smooth ceilings. But in my opinion it is probably one of the best ceiling paints on the market. It would probably do very well on a textured ceiling.
Ben Moore Ultra Waterborne ceiling is 100% the best. I been painting for 35 years and that is my go-to, it also touches up very well too. Another tip, it's expensive but Ben Moore Aura is hands down the best for walls int or ext.
@@richsainsbury2285 I guess it is a hard balance. Sherwin williams for example kind of screws over regular consumers when it comes to price. Versus Benjamin Moore has a very strict pricing policy. Very different business models.
@@autohelix Pro Classic from SW is great some don't like how it can sag but the finish dries very hard and Advanced from Ben Moore is decent too. I need to try cabinet coat Paint life UA-cam also recommends it.
Yes. It is the best for sure. The only thing I would say is if you have to prime certain spots on your ceiling due to repairs or damage, you should prime the whole ceiling before you paint. It will make painting easier and you will also use less paint which is definitely more expensive than primer. But for ceilings I just don't think anything out there is going to give better results especially in difficult lighting conditions.
No I have not, but from my research Benjamin Moore waterborne ceiling paint is better. BM Maresco has a higher sheen level. Sherwin-Williams masterhide is a cheap paint. If cost is an issue masterhide is an okay option.
Grrr. After using SW Eminence and actually believing it might cover the ceiling after a few thousand coats, I went pack to SW and told the paint guy my woes. He sold me on “Super Paint” - (paint and primer combo which I try to stay away from). Oh well - small bedroom - I’ll give it a shot. Thanks for the tips for future ceiling painting. I’ll give SW one thing - their sandable primer for trim is awesome.
Amazon oftentimes charges more for paints and joint compounds. I bought a 32 oz can of Rust Oleum paint for $10 at Home Depot. It sold for $20 to $25 on Amazon. As for joint compounds, you can buy 3 at Home Depot or Lowe’s for the price of one on Amazon.
Don't use anything other than a flat paint on ceilings.....anything even with the least sheen shows all the defects. I tried it ONCE, and had to repaint with flat.
@@autohelix The one time I used a dead flat ceiling paint; it probably was a much cheaper brand than your recommendation. It collected the dust, like the black soot from AC vents, very fast, and ceiling had to be repainted in rather short time with the regular flat. Your video was very informative. Thanks.

Nope , you don't want or need a "waterborne" paint on a ceiling , you do not want any "super durable" paint on a ceiling , just use a cheap dead flat paint , promar 400 , or if you want "whiter" Behr makes a 2 gallon bucket ceiling paint ... you want a cheap dead flat paint ...... If you every have to do a repair you will understand why ..... and especially a popcorn ceiling !!! NEVER EVER use an extremely durable paint on popcorn , you will have hell doing a repair ..... ANY cheap "dead flat" paint will do , and the only thing you need to consider is "how white you want it" .... many "white" paints have a touch of black in them and have that "grayish color" you talked about ..... I use SW promar 400 a lot on ceilings , it's just easy to use , cheap , dead flat , has a SLIGHT gray to it but not bad ..... Behr is the "whitest" I've ever used ..... Sometimes it's "too white" though , SW whites are more subtle ...... I would not use any "waterborne" paints , you might have to do a repair one day , and you do not want to have to "sand your ass off" fixing sheetrock on a ceiling ....... and frankly Promar 400 dead flat is a good paint all through the house , ceilings and walls ..... It may not be the most durable , but it touches up nicely and hides imperfections better ...... and if you ever have to do a repair ..... Well , you can thank me later
I totally disagree with your opinion. This is by far the best ceiling paint there is on the market it is wonderful. It makes your ceilings look more expensive, and it is very easy to touch up.
