I bought the OG Ally on release & OG Steam Deck before that. Im yet to upgrade and am waiting to see what comes to market this year to find a worthy successor. The Ally X was like a .5 update I want the full 2.0 update and still daily drive my OG Ally + carry a battery pack / plug it into the wall to mitigate the battery.
I got the ally x since I didn’t have any besides the steam deck. Love it but I’m wondering if I should return it and op for a used ally and a legion go.
I love my ROG Ally Z1 extreme. Only problem I have is the battery life.I always have to carry a battery pack while traveling.Waiting to see what the Ally 2 and Legion Go 2 bring to the handheld market
I have the same one the white Z1 extreme, I have to agree the battery life sucks ass!! I always play plugged in at home or to a 100 watt inverter when I’m in my semi truck. Hopefully they show something on ROG ally 2 at CES
I bought a ROG Ally for Black Friday and was thinking about returning it because I saw new things coming out. But I really only use it for Marvel Rivals. The battery life is my only issue but I can deal with it since it was a great deal!
I estimate that the difference în the new devices won't be that big in order to upgrade yet. Maybe next generation when we get 50% more frames, maybe fsr 4 and better battery life with silicon carbon batteries.
when all your marketing is "it's stronger than steam deck" the device will become meaningless when more powerful/energy-efficient/cheaper devices enter the market...
Yes the Steam Deck has issues with poorly optimized Unreal Engine 5 Games generally. The Steam Deck represents the bare minimun of decent Pc Gaming so its great to see stronger devices.
The original “OG” Ally is a flaming junk pile. I don’t know what to say about anyone who is rocking that device other then they must not know what they are doing. Wasting their lives is what they are doing. The Ally X will be just fine, but the OG Ally didn’t even survive 2024 for anyone who is even a remotely discerning consumer.
i survived 2024 with it just fine lol, the battery life is kinda shit just like my og steam deck lcd but other than that i don't know what your talking about
I own more then a dozen gaming devices including a iPad & android tablets & devices that are primarily designed for streaming & that ROC Ally is the worst device by far. By far. Aya Neo Air, Aya Neo S1, Aya Neo Slide, Aya Neo Flip DS, Steam deck, one X player pro, Legion Go, V3 tablet, the ROC Ally gets stomped by all of them.
You must just not own anything else if you think that device is as good. They should have handed out refunds. I’d rather attach an isometric controller to a iPad or a Samsung galaxy tab then pick up that damn Ally.
I think the ROG ally would be seen as alien technology in 205.

rog ally now had a battery mod for 70wh
I got my 76w modded. Actual watt was 80w
As long as people can recommend the steam deck oled then you can recommend even the z1 ally because it has better specs in every category
LSFG 3.0 just made me love my Ally that much more, I'll be keeping this for a while.

it will survive a couple more years I reckon maybe up to the rog ally 3 or so then the original will be redundant

Ye, Steam Deck is too weak while Rog Ally and Legion Go are still powerful enough (even more cause Rog Ally is getting cheaper and cheaper)
