Ghost Brigade should be bigger than they are.
I'm starting to have that sentiment about Season of Mist artists in general: This is really good, as is Carach Angren, and I hadn't heard of either of them even though the former began releasing albums in 2007 and the latter 2008 (studio albums).
I wish Season of Mist had the marketing power of Nuclear Blast. Until then, I'll keep searching playlists :)

Can't believe that they don't play anymore. Isolation songs and this album are one of the best I ever heard. Also even tho they are inactive for like 3-4 years they have around 50k monthly listeners on Spotify. Big number for inactive metal band

i womder how many thousands of bands are iut there and at 41 yo i keep discovering. it s fucking never ending...........and in metal post metal hard core stoner doom only here ..........would need 20.000 lives .............
Had the chance to see them live in Berlin FOR JUST FIVE EUROS.... best concert I ever witnissed for such a price...
I'm really glad that you had the chance to see them. I wish i could say the same. I love this band but their concert,wich i visited, wasn't as good as i hoped it would be. I dont' know if it was the sound wasn't dat good or Manne Ikonen was drunk or tired. I really missed something.
I think it is a situational band... If they are into the trance of their own stuff, they sound really good live.

I get a little depressed when I remember that these guys decided to throw their hat down and go on hiatus. They were on to something really great, but I understand. This album always opens a door for me and I love the lyrics to In the Woods. The hard thing to do with lyrics is to make them both personal and relatable and I think they nailed it. Both in setting the tone for the album and catching your ear, and if you are lucky, your feelings. I put the lyrics below:

@@urpoukko Last spring we were supposed to come back from hiatus for a short moment and play two shows as part of our "home venue" Lutakko’s 30th birthday celebrations. And then, only a few weeks before the dates, the world got suddenly shut down by COVID-19. The shows got postponed and later in the summer it became clear that due to the ongoing pandemic they weren’t going to happen later this year either. Nobody knows how long it will take until this kind of bigger events can be organised again, so we decided it was best to cancel the shows.
We then sat down to discuss the future of the band and it turned out that while majority of us were hungry to go forward and write new music, all weren’t. So understandably under these circumstances we were left with no other option than to put the band in it's final rest.
Huge thanks to all our listeners and everyone who contributed to GB one way or another over the years.

Outstanding album, I think it will remain in my top albums forever as I revisit it fully or specific songs off it on regular basis.
Usually I prefer to listen to certain release in a specific time (of year, or day), because it "fits the vibe". This album in turn is so rich, full
Also one of the most beautiful, atmospheric and fitting album covers I've ever seen.
Back when i got into Melodic death metal,. or precisely, the more death/doom approach to it ,These guys with this album were my introduction, loved the album and the band ever since, i wish they came back : (

Well when I saw the genre of this band I was like, nahh it's just going to be growl after growl after growl, let alone understandable growls. But no, I was pleasantly surprised....I think next time I see this album at a store its gonna find its way to my home :P
Interesting. Before I clicked on this video, I looked them up on Encyclopaedia Metallum to see the genre, lyrical themes, ect. and I imagined them sounding exactly like this. This is great!

its too sad they stopped ... in metallum it says "on hold" .. if they had more attention they would be like swallow the sun or maybe even like insomnium ...
I just read they'll be back and throw some gigs starting from April 2020.
