"The water is cold. So it's a shock when it hits your face." The mask removal in the ocean is so relatable. I did my open water certification in Canada. Just remember to not gasp and keep calm once the cold water hits your face.
Hello johnathan did you remember visiting a kid in the philipines for his birthday here i am! How are you i never reply its been months sins i havent watch your vids cause of school! I just wanna say thank you for coming true my birthday!
next episode Zach: Hi all, Zach here hosting today's episode, Jonathan is tied up with something so he can't do this episode At home, Jonathan is tied up to a chair with chains
Hey Jonathan I just wanted to say thank you for all that you do. I watched a lot of your videos to help me feel good when my mom died of cancer last year. You guys are producing great content. Keep up the work! 👍🏻
I used to watch y'all all day every day. Been away from UA-cam after my channel was shut down for a copyright strike. Glad to see y'all still diving away making awesome videos👍🏼🐬🐠
Oh my gosh, this was so much fun to watch and very informative, nicely done Zach and ummm Zach, Jonathan chained to the desk was the icing on the cake...LOL!
Did my PADI OWD and AOWD courses in Egypt. Visiting Croatia in a week to get SSI Stress and Rescue certified. I'm excited! Greeting from Germany and a great episode as always!
Wow! I always assumed Zach *was* certified. He is Zach-of-all-Trades after all! Anyways, congratulations on your OW cert and welcome to the family, brother! Also, back in my day, when you got certified you didn't have to do it with your boss filming you and judging your performance! ;)
Great story and such a lovely course with some nice buoyancy! It was funny seeing a long hose donation with a short hose, but it is great seeing donating a primary!
Congrats, Zach! You're welcome to divers family. You and Jonathan need to visit lake Baikal and make an episode about those awesome place of the Earth. From Russia with love. Good luck.
Yeah I believe SSI has a set standard of what the class minimum has to be but they encourage instructors to teach new methods and expand on the material. If you notice they taught the "donate your primary" instead of your octo, which is slowly becoming more common. I was working on rescue with PADI and I'm going to just start over with SSI as my agency. They just train better and safer, they also teach skills floating neutral instead of negative.
@@l_p8242 I didn't see anything that I didn't do in my PADI OW course. The tired diver tow, for example, is one of the PADI "Flexible Skills" that can be done during any of the open water dives. According to my student record, I did it on Open Water Dive #2. The "Share Air" skill, with ascent and oral inflation of the BCD on the surface, was also done on OW2.
Congrats Zach!. Remember your training. I'll never forget I went with a beginner group because my friend was in it so they let me tag along. I was let off the boat early to do a free decent (they obviously had a rope for the group). I had done several dives including decompression dives with the dive masters so they knew i was competent. The first guy from the beginner group jumps in a few seconds in he sees a small shark and just started chasing it instead of waiting for the group like he was suppose to ( and yes once they came into the water I sat there like they were suppose to as well) long story short I can barely see this guy on one horizon and im within a couple feet of losing visibility of the boat on the other. I was hitting my tank for minutes and this guy was just ignoring me and telling me to come with him. I had to make the call grab this guy and say WE ARE DONE YOUR DIVE IS OVER. Put my flag up luckily the captain was watching his bubbles and saw this all play out from above. Never seen a dive master so mad in my life. Luckily he wasn't mad at me LOL. S**T happens but this lesson taught me to really pay attention who I dive with.
Congrats Zach. Im actually looking to get certified in August with my girlfriend and two friends(for them hopefully) after we do a discover scuba class.
Hi Blue World Team! I got certified last year but was not able to get my dive experiences because i dont own any equipment. I am a fan from Philippines and i live near Dauin and Apo Island. If you happen to view this message, hope I will get to meet you someday if you will be coming back here. Love Papa Jan
I'm so glad I found and watched this video! I'm looking into getting dive certified and I wasn't sure what to expect and now I feel I have a better idea of what to expect and how to prepare for the class. So thank you very much I feel more confident about getting my certification (still a little nervous lol) ❣️❤
That's what happens with you have a good teacher. Also since it's one on one he wasn't started off with way too much weight, instructors will usually over weigh students especially since padi teaches all skills negatively buoyant. Of course this could also be a big difference between PADI and SSI with a great instructor. But I am in complete agreement, I wish I was that good in my pool sessions haha
Congratulations Zack. Even though Johnathan is giving you smack. I'm proud of you son. Now your like this Zackie of all trades. Welcome to my world..... lol.... Have fun & be safe BWC, Chris "Zackie" from Missouri
Hi Jonathan Bird! I have a question. I would like to find a place to be certified for scuba diving. I've been practicing open water diving, swim training, and even got my first step to certification card. I recently worked with the Padi Seal Team. I'm 13 years old! Do you think you have any recommendations? I would like to meet you sometime when COVID has settled!
Most people get their certification at a local dive shop. Another option is to do the class and pool work locally, then do a referral to another instructor to do the open water dives in the tropics. I personally am a big believer in getting your certification locally in cold/murky water. It makes you a much better diver. I can tell you that people who learn to dive here in New England are TOUGH divers, so they can dive anywhere. But if you get certified to dive in the warm, clear water of the tropics, with a thin wetsuit and good viz, you are definitely not going to be prepared for less ideal conditions.
Hey Jonothan, I’m 12 and going on a shark dive in December the day after Christmas. The only problem is I don’t know the proper technique on how to steer them away, Is there any way you can help me with that, i am going in the Bahamas on the live aboard dive boat the Aquacat, have you ever been on that boat? I am goin the day after Christmas with Divers Supply Indy, you have inspired me to become a diver, keep up the good work.
Generally they will not bother you because they are more interested in the guy feeding them. Always wear dark gloves so the sharks don't think your hands are fish scraps. If they are too close for comfort then back up.
Congratulations Zack! Fantastic dream fulfilled. Good luck in your adventures and getting Jonathon to unchain you often lol! Can you take the written portion online? That would be so cool to start. I'm able to float and swim on my back and dog paddle but I have never been good at any diving. I'm hoping to rectify that with my daughters help soon. Idk if I will be allowed with COPD but I can try. Mainly it's the goggles. I need to SEE down there. My eyes can't handle the water. Maybe it would be something for my daughter and grandkids at least. Thank you guys! Another awesome vid! Going to check out your other channel. You've been warned!😈🙏💙🤘🌎
i would love to get certified one day, i tried searching dive shops/centers nearby and i found an ssi dive center in Mar del Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina, 300 km from where i live
Hi Johnathan! I was wondering if you had any info on where Jake from 2009 is now? He would be around 23. Do you still keep in contact? How is he doing.
Shoot. He had it easy. Back in my day we had to swim 1000 meters, in the snow, bare footed, uphill, both ways in 5 minutes. CONGRATS Zach!
Scott Jackson you had it easy we had to freedive all the way Down the marianas trench and clean it up in one breath! 😆
LOL you guys crack me up! Kids these days have it so easy!!
Hold my beer, naa I rec dive lol
Hi john

Reminds me a lot when Jake got certified. Both were great episodes.
