I love the way Dave again and again sets up a swing ground foundation in 2-4-8 feel then leaps and flies all about in 6 and 12. Feels like a tripped-out hummingbird!
When I first listened to Brubeck's Take Five album I was instantly enamored by his music. I had read that he was the first integrated jazz band; he broke the color barrier by having an African American bass player. I was truly impressed. Then when he died, it was revealed why he felt it was so important to break that color barrier. Dave Brubeck was a man of great integrity and that's what makes his music so great.
Huge hero of mine from childhood/adolescence - world grew colder that time/year he passed, musically no-one outclassed, only ever some matched, God is such a genius - for all this rich life plan He hatched 🤗🤗🤗🤗🤗
@PaulGreen11 he wrote "take five" one of the most known jazz tunes in history, and my personal favourite...how much more credit can he get?all the people who truly enjoy jazz know who he is,and that's good enough for me.
@ushekim I have just looked through my old lp collection and have the one to which you refer..It is an English release on the Fontana(Phillips) label. Very good performances.
@johnydeltablues: I know who Paul Desmond IS. I know "take five" and and lots of Brubeck. "Maria" is my favorite piece. My post says he's, "a great sax player."
That's unfair i also lisen to Metalica or Tupac theese are also very good music's in their kind .By the way i didn't disliked i'm a big fan of the jazz
2015 spring still shallow night , I had a dream . What Prime Minister Abe 's love machine Government aircraft (originally the things that have been installed by the rescue Japanese to stay abroad) 2 aircraft,747 Boeing one crashed , he was helped to the miraculous in IS also . It is downright silly dream . Oh besamemucho! Amazeing grese ! Oh my gods !!!! Or would have in Who sad really who willingly ? It God knows . 朝です、おはようございます。
+2HHB Everyone seems to say something similar to this about Dave's playing, but I honestly think there's way more to it than meets the eye (or ear I guess). It's almost if he's bored of the traditional swing of jazz and is adding this structure that challenges your ears. I hang on his every note because of it.
I fkn love you Paul Desmond 💖💖
Burbeck is da man !! His band is so tight
I love the way Dave again and again sets up a swing ground foundation in 2-4-8 feel then leaps and flies all about in 6 and 12. Feels like a tripped-out hummingbird!
The Dave Brubeck Quartet with Eugene, Paul, & Joe have always been the very best; and still are !

I love the little pit on his faces when is blowing to his saxophone :-))
Been listening to them for 55 years and still can't get enough!
+Tom Gauthier Same for me. Since 1957 and I still need more!
I hope you live to listen to them for another 55!
It is great to see Paul doing his thing, a great improviseur with the gentlest tone of all alto players. My personal Idol.
It's a shame there aren't more likes for this video... I love this man
Sometimes, you know, people are just so transported, and they forget to Like. I've done it myself many times.
It is very difficult your words. 非常に意味信なお言葉ですね。・・・

Brubeck.....so famous and talented, yet plays his piano while seated on a dining room chair! Kudos to the late Joe Morello as well.....what a drummer!

Wow. Dave B in 1961. Cool indeed. My head is involuntarily bouncing up and down. Superb solos.

57 años despues les digo GRACIAS por dejarnos tan gran legado. Grande los cuatro.
@melvinseatramp That ending.... Just so effortless. It's just so inspiring
Great swinging rendition of this old jazz tune. For me, this music will last forever.

Yes, cousin, absolutely yes.
I know The Senator in person. He's a real gentleman.
great just great
Simply Immortals. That's all.
piece of real music
How Desmond can do this soft, mellow and straight clarinet-like sound on alto-sax?
Ai como eu queria ser dessa época!!
You go Joe!
@PaulGreen11 he wrote "take five" one of the most known jazz tunes in history, and my personal favourite...how much more credit can he get?all the people who truly enjoy jazz know who he is,and that's good enough for me.
hmmm that Joe Morello on the drums! Paul Desmond too👌 #sogood
really great intonation and okay bending of the notes. Paul was one of my favorites.
I thank you.
This is real music.
I'd have been like Eugene, " just thankful to be playin with 'em"...
@ONEDEADLYVENOM I love them all as I am sure they treasured each other
just absolutely great!
Yeah, the sweetest swing is when it's just about straight, that way you have pocketfulls of swing to spend : )
I was there!
HOLY SMOKE !!!!!!!
Really moving! Great work!
@ushekim I have just looked through my old lp collection and have the one to which you refer..It is an English release on the Fontana(Phillips) label. Very good performances.
This drum solo is so casual!
That Ludwig kick drum! BOOM
Que de vibration Waw
Oh, Paul! How were you so good?
@johnydeltablues: I know who Paul Desmond IS. I know "take five" and and lots of Brubeck. "Maria" is my favorite piece. My post says he's, "a great sax player."
Paul had a unique sound.
He might be one of the first ones to do a bass solo
@ushekim Yes, this is probably the version you are thinking of.. Excellent(as always) solo by Paul Desmond.
@ushekim its on itunes i think. i know its a long time ago but i thought i would tell you.
Brilliant clip.Should have had more mikes for Dave on piano.
Amazing sounds & so,so good.
Definitely not me, I maybe a huge metal fan, but, I've got no problem with a good old fashioned jazz music
its like he's just breathing the music.
RIP
1:38 Show Time! adam kral ya..
@tromboneJTS : Paul simply doesn't need them! And he did use em!
thats the sax I want to do
"St Louis Cool Jazz" is more like it.
Joe morello had something special.
yo me pregunto, porque estos titanes han muerto, y yo un mediocre sigo vivo, esto es una tragedia.
probably not if its 61' charles mingus definitly has bass solos, idk much about jazz history, jus gettin into it but yeah haha
hey, hi 😁 9 years on how are you doing 🤔❓😁
People don’t get it-let ‘em listen to George Jones or Led Zeppelin
WHO DISLIKED THIS?!?!!
who's the bass player? Gene Wright?
yes
he's playing a double bass (or upright bass)
Why do you think they have that function anyway? Do you think that people can see in the future and know what they will hear before they've heard it?
A'spiritully PURE - Heavenly CONNECTION ‼️ this is THAT which produces such musical PERFECTION ‼️😁🤗🤗🤗🤗👍Peace of God BE WITH you 🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️
Hahahahaha - only Paul Desmond could fit Exodus into St. Louis Blues. (:37 - :42)
:D
@tromboneJTS: xD maybe
he probably hit the wrong button
That's unfair i also lisen to Metalica or Tupac theese are also very good music's in their kind .By the way i didn't disliked i'm a big fan of the jazz
Paul Desmond is still not given enough credit as a great sax player.
FUCKIN BARRY MAN
Who?
2015 spring still shallow night , I had a dream . What are you smoking?
He does deserve some love but let's face it, he was the weakest link!
3:00 just so stiff man...

It isn't "stiff" it's called disciplined with a strong sense of class.
I got a stiff right here in my pants
blues??? didn't hear very many blue notes in this piece.
maybe you have sore /stiff neck /heavy feett or something?
Great Desmond !
Thanks
