Buddhism reached Mecadonia, Greece, Turkey, Syria Levant, Alexandria Egypt in the 3rd Century BC, long before going to China, Korea and Japan. Many Greeks became Buddhist monks and patrons of Buddhism. Afghanistan, Turkistan and Pakistan were the main centers of Buddhism under Indo-Greeks and Kushan empires. Parthians or Pastun or Pathan were Buddhists.
