Yashar koach, Rabbi. Would that more of our Jewish leadership spoke out with the same degree of moral clarity combined with compassion for the humanity of all involved. To all you have said here, I say AMEN.
Hi Rabbi. With respect, it is easy to call for peace and to call for war to end, and we all want the war to end. But if the war ends, and Ham@s October 7thists are still in power, then the war has not ended, it is delayed. If not through war, how do you imagine dealing with the Ham@s elephant in the room? I do not believe you addressed this in your sermon, and it is vital, and in reality, it cannot be overlooked.
With all due respect, The occupation is the elephant in the room. Israel should’ve been able to defend its own people. If the army is properly guarding the borders and had done so on October 7 none of this would’ve happened. It’s about Neno who funded Hamas and purposely built them up to counter the PLO the PA so there couldn’t be a piece agreement, the idea that Hamas will come back and get us is I don’t know what to say it’s not realistic. It’s an excuse to keep the war going. Thank you Rabbi Sharon for your amazing words
@@ericasigmon8654 When you say "occupation" you have not defined what you mean. Ham@s, and the Ham@s Jihadi ideology who we are actually dealing with means "All of Israel" when they speak of "occupation". So no, "Occupation is not the elephant in the room. It is not the key to solving the problem. Gaza was "'de-occupied" and they turned it into a Jihadi death cult hell hole. If by "occupation" you mean the West Bank, well let's say that it was all given to the Palestinians. A) they would likely turn it into Ham@sastan. 85% of West Bank Arabs supported October 7th massacre. b)The Hamas charter and ideology calls for the complete destruction of all of Israel...and you still have NOT dealt with the elephant in the room that would still remain....
Rabbi Brous, maybe -- just maybe -- your wise and compassionate words have chipped away at my uncomfortable belief that the trajectory of this conflict shows the only realistic path to its end is when one side annihilates the other.
You poor woman. The world should have followed your lead. Israel should have followed your lead. God bless you for your conscience and urgings. It's in God's hands now. We will all answer to Him.
Rabbi Brous, I have enormous respect for you. Yet I must say something here. I am under the impression that your take on the reality of HAMAS, GAZA, military objectives and operations, fundamentalist, extreme Islam and implications for the long term has some knowledge gaps, lack of foresight. With respect. What is at stake here includes world wide consequences. Hamas is an arm of the Muslim Brotherhood, whose arms have far reach. There was a plan, we were blessed did not manifest, in which Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Yemen, Syrian actors are going to attack Israel all at once and destroy Eretz Yisrael all at once. HAMAS jumped the gun. Too soon. But There were some agreements with Putin probably, getting their technical help to turn off Israel's surveillance and communicating and iron dome at that critical moment. The current awareness puts a damper on that grand plan from Iran. But the intention is still there. This is a JIHAD. I appreciate compassion for innocents. But there are less innocents than one presupposes. Another point, that HAMAS has no complicity in the death of their own "citizens" that they are just sitting ducks is incorrect. Listen to Malcolm Nance. Don't ignore that Hamas uses non Hamas Palestinians as shields or as Nance says, sponges, to absorb the force of attack instead of protecting them! It is regarded as if it was propaganda from Israel. These terrorist tactics were used in Syria and Iraq wars, it is an accepted form of sacrifice, Shahid, a free pass through severe judgement at gates of heaven. The people do believe this! JIHAD is the highest point of the Islamic ladder. WAR, CONQUER, KILL INFIDELS. Sacrifice as needed. See Son of HAMAS, Ch2. One can not ignore that HAMAS built tunnels for 15 years instead of bomb shelters, or that they intend the tunnels are only for military purposes. They say U.N. is responsible for the lives of refugees. (How many generations can they remain refugees pulling in Money for Hamas?) Or that arms, ammunition, weapons are stored in hospital, in incubators, in Teddy Bears at nurse schools, mosques, homes. There are videos of all this from IDF. Or that the numbers include all the fighters. Or that boys are carrying real weapons by age 11. Or that women who are not allowed to be in HAMAS are nonetheless a portion of complicit assistance actively, cooperating and martyrdom of self and children. This is not all gaza Palestinians, but a significant portion. Reminds me of Viet Kong and also many African nation struggles where children are part of "armies". Ignoring also that Hamas prevented civilians from leaving Gaza City and now Rafah. One couple reporting that HAMAS stopped them from leaving after Israel sent out, texts, phone calls, emails,, all warnings to leave before ground invasion.... took their car keys and sent them back to Gaza with their young children on foot. They lived to tell us. HAMAS is evil, like ISIS, Al Qaeda. This is not an equivical war, not same on both sides. It is like WWII GOOD VS EVIL. Should HAMAS still exist as an organization, the world is losing. Also, the 30,000 soldiers in brigades of Hamas are well organized and trained. They actively fight when IDF comes in. (Again, see Nance interview) . Any cease fire or end war without eliminating completely of HAMAS will leave Israel in grave danger. Wack-a-mole. Furthermore it is likely Hezbollah will heighten the moment the war is stopped or Hamas is defeated. Don't underestimate. The goal is for the Uma to grow, for Islam to spread around the world. They do not want a piece of land to nurture and prosper. Obviously they did not develop Gaza as they could have. It's a valuable Mediterranean piece of real estate!. They have the money. They want a Caliphate because without one they can not declare an open ambitious Jihad. It's an Islamic mandate. They want power. The shame of no longer having an Empire makes them furious. Next, Look at what's happening in Europe with influx of fundamentalist Muslims. Crime rates, rape rates, birth rates. It's part of the Uma and expansion. If we stopped the war or had a cease fire, Hamas will revive and just extend the animosity endlessly. We’ll still be fighting for years, even generations. We must stay the course and not turn back or build golden calves before we know we are safe from the declared continued massacres and more hostages. In the end, there will be less death and destruction if we continue than if we stop. We still have Hezbollah to worry about who have even more powerful weapons from North Korea and Iran. They are trying to wear us down. We are war weary already. We are in pain. But we must finish the course. Then we can rebuild, re educate, restore peaceful commerce and relationships. Then we can relearn as we heal, that we are all humans. But in the meantime, values and priorities are very different than western values. They don't believe in democracy, equality, women's rights, separation of church and state, gender fluidity or freedom of speech. Their paradigm is not ours. There are not enough moderate Muslims there. Most are in Israel. They are considered infidels. We have a ways to go. A new generation of Palestinians must be born in a metaphorical "40 years in the desert" without the "hatred education.". Then enough of us can love one another and live as neighbours with mutual respect. Don't jump the gun. We may not live long enough, we may have to stay with Moses. I also have to say that Israel needs to remain a Jewish majority state. We are 0.2% of the world. 2.2% of U.S. It's the only place in the world we can be majority and not suffer subtle or blatant anti Semitism. Only place where Shabbat is part of the country and way of life. I don't want to lose that.
Are you seriously trying to lecture the Rabbi about history and Israel Palestine? Are you serious? Thank you Rabbi Sharon for your profound wisdom. By the way, Rabbi Brows is talking about ending demonization and just stopping it. There’s no there’s no us or them. It’s all of us and if you can’t see that then you are perpetuating fear, hatred, violence, and war. Shame That so many of my fellow Jews, can’t see that. No one’s life is more precious than another life. The settlers in the West Bank and the fascist government are no different from Hamas. If you can’t accept that, then good luck living with your life living with your head buried in the sand.
I love that you remind us our witness and comfort and presence must be recommited to daily.

Is anyone here has a solution to the problem, go to Israel, and tell the government.
