    I was putting in a game order and stumbled across your video including Bus and Stop. And look at that it's on the new imports page. Looks like I will now have my 1st Saashi & Saashi game. I would love to see that 10 games of theirs revisited. Cheers

      Welcome to Cardboard East! I’m glad you found us. I too have been planning on revisiting that list as there have been a lot more games released by Saashi & Saashi! It shall be done. It is written!

    Amazing intro! And what an amazing point about memories, and i'm so glad OWL can be one of those 🥹

      So many good memories from OWL. My most recent was when I was looking into getting a nice Tichu deck, when I suddenly realized that I have OWL which is already BY FAR THE BEST Tichu Deck in existence!

    Just checking the Japan videos out for a visit next year. Thanks for the lists and coverage :) I noticed I don't see anything about the Game Market that happens in Osaka - have they stopped doing that one?

    • @CardboardEast
      @CardboardEast  Місяць тому +1

      Correct. They have stopped doing the Game Market in Osaka. There’s a B2B event that happens in Q1 in Osaka now, but it’s mostly for publishers and retailers from my understanding.

    No way! I picked up Wanted Wombat when I went to Japan last month but I couldn't find anything on it (I just liked the cover lol). Thank you so much! It was super fun and we were so hype playing it when we called our shot haha

    Great video!
    I had a friend pick up some games for me and bring them back to the States. Trick + Sniper was one of them but we haven’t played it yet. My favorite so far has been Kakapo followed by Vivo. We’ve also played Rocket Punch, Shut the Books, and Gin Crafters.
    Some Japanese games that I have that I want to get to table besides Tricj + Sniper: Wizard Cup, Yaburo Quest, and Moguchingomen.

    • @CardboardEast

      That's a solid list! Gin Crafters is delightful (especially with some gin)

    @16:10 what are the cards showing buses going round the icon.

    • @CardboardEast
      @CardboardEast  2 місяці тому

      Those are the scoring cards. When you drop people off at their destination, you score one of these cards. The two main strategies in the game are score few cards but with big values (you're dropping off 7-8 people) OR drop off a lot of people to many different locations for a few points. When there are 6 scoring cards left, the end game is triggered.

      @@CardboardEast thanks. I realised they are the back of the point cards. i realised the back and front are not the same. backs are rotated and slipped behind scoring cards . saw it in japanese playthrough. I ordered a set.

    Hi Jay - My friend is travelling to japan from India. Are there any small box games which are available on any Japanese website which i should check out. I already got Harvest, Catsle Builder, Joraku and Nine Tile Extreme. Of What’s left and Nokosu Dice are not available. Any specific game which I should evaluate - pls guide me

      I’ve made a Top 10 card game 2023 video a few weeks ago & I’ve finished my Top 100 series. I’d start there. Nana & Wind the Film would be my two strongest recs.

    Did you go to TGM?! I was there and so concentrated on looking at all of the tables that, who knows, maybe we walked right by each other! I thought you were back in the US. It was a fun, overwhelming weekend and there were so many games I wanted to buy - if only I had an unlimited budget! Even buying small 1,500-2,500yen games added up quickly. I'm looking forward to your next videos about your TGM haul!!

      😅 Nope. I didn’t go this year, but I’m hoping for this winter!

    Seems like several of these have English rules and text, and I saw a photo of the English rules available sign. How hard is it to navigate the Tokyo Games Market not speaking Japanese?

    • @CardboardEast
      @CardboardEast  5 місяців тому +2

      Pretty easy if you go prepared. Expect that NOBODY will speak English. Bring cash. Shop fast. Google Lens is more than capable of translating most rulebooks. Reward yourself at a proper izakaya for dinner.

      A fan of Mike Dilisio put his visage on a tote bag and traveled around Game Market with it. Several photos were taken. It was adorable. "Tote Mike" made it to Game Market before Dilisio himself 😂

    that Wanted Wombat looks like can be proxied using standard poker deck

    • @CardboardEast
      @CardboardEast  5 місяців тому +2

      There are 16 ones, soooo maybe? You could definitely make a proxy deck. But the artwork does a lot of heavy at lifting here.

    I am also working through my TGM haul. I have played Nokosu Dice, Tiger and Dragon, Nana, Cat Poker, Nanatoridori and Bokura No Umi. The two will be my favorites but a little too advanced strategy wise for most of my students. All of the games good but Nanatoridori is probably my disappointment so far. The end of each hand just becomes fishing through the deck trying to match one of the last cards in your hand. It's just too close to Scout and very much inferior for me.

    • @CardboardEast
      @CardboardEast  5 місяців тому

      Don’t give up on Nana Toridori just yet! Try playing with the original Hachi Train rules, it’s MUCH tighter and flows much better. I’m not sure why Arclight changed the rules when they picked up the game, but they failed.

    • @kirkbeiser
      @kirkbeiser 5 місяців тому +1

      @@CardboardEast I will definitely try out the Hachi Train rules. Love the artwork in Nanatoridori so much.
