It's a good course. I wish it didn't favor factory width rigs with short wheel base. A pair of judges that actually pay attention and dont get distracted would be nice too. I saw so many people get away with so much, and then others get faulted on every little thing because the judges were actually paying attention that time. I get it's just for fun, but it takes away from the fun when people aren't equally judged. I just mention it because several people mentioned it to me at the event. Over all it was a blast and can't wait for the next few months events. I have a course I wouldn't mind donating for one of the events to change it up but thats totally up to you and rc360.
The judges were volunteering at the event and way more people than expected showed up making the event last a lot longer than expected, so I understand why they might have been getting distracted after a while, it’s tough having to judge runs for that long without breaks. That being said I completely understand where you and others are coming from. Our hope is that people are honest during their runs and mention when they make a mistake if a judge is distracted but we all know chasing a low scored run is the priority most of the time when driving and I hope people who are watching on the sidelines feel like they can help and even say something if they see something lol I think the next comp we do should have some down time in between classes or runs to help judges and maybe get a couple more volunteers to switch out here and there so everyone gets a fair and concise score. 🤙🏻 The gate width was decided based on the challenge of the courses I have, there are not very many difficult lines for wide super modded trucks so to keep things as fair as we could think we made them narrow so wide capable trucks had a harder time clearing them while also making sure the obstacles are hard enough for narrower trucks so they can’t just breeze through. It’s a tough balancing act and we do the best we can with what we got to make it challenging and fun for everyone even though we can’t please them all lol and adjusting gates for each trucks run based on width was an idea that got tossed around but is way to much work and changes the obstacles approach and difficulty so the decision was make them narrow and if people with super wide trucks get upset they can narrow their rigs before their run I would love to see some new courses and challenges for the next comps so I think you should definitely reach out to RC360hobbies and see if they are cool with it! I don’t make those kinds of decisions I just gave all my course to the hobby shop and said they can use them for comps or whatever else they want. Or better yet just bring the course to the next event early and I’ll make sure we use it haha I really don’t think they care what we crawl on they just want us all to have a good time! 😄🤙🏻 I’m glad you had a good time and hope to see you at the next one!
@UpperLeftRC rotating judges and a break would be a huge improvement in my opinion anyway, I also didn't expect nearly as many people to come. I think everyone should set up further down instead of the aisle too so that the driver and judge have more room to freely move around and not be crowded or tripping over stuff. As for the actual gate width that's not a issue to me, I run +4s and 5 3/4"-6" gates no problem I thought the gate width was spot on, I was more talking about some of the exits and approaches I guess such as gate 4, being 153mm wheel base gladiator and +4 gate 4 was just too tight to even attempt making after leaving gate 3 and another gate I can remember exactly which. Just turns that are perfect for swb vehicles but don't really work for lwb. I'm used to it being broken down per class with restrictions a little more too though (length, width, brushed/brushless), which I get would make even more time. I gotta plaster and paint the course but I got it carved I'll have to stop by and run it by them, I don't think they'll have an issue with it, but I'm not sure how competitors will feel about it, it's more of a rock crawling themed course with a ton of aggressive side hilling, definitely can dribe a stock rig on it but a decently modified rig is better for it, I have 2 huge mud pit in the course as well but idk if I'd fill them if I brought it, it's like 30,000 bbs lol.
@@UpperLeftRC- finding a balance that accommodates different rigs must be incredibly challenging! On the one hand you have rigs that side-hill great but can't clear narrow gates as well.. then you have stock-width rigs that clear narrow gates great but can't side-hill as well.. how to span the performance difference gap? Finding that balance that will appease ALL drivers?... probably impossible. Two classes with time inbetween to change the course?.. still a huge challenge! THAT could be just changing the gate width between classes, but then you have this course that is too easy for wide rigs, and the number of competitors in each class shrinks, though apparently you don't have that problem.. over 50 rigs! Nice. Maybe different class courses, but then you only have so much space for courses among other issues. Maybe people designing the courses can put in a bit more thought into designing obstacles that can be adjusted to suit different classes, Eg. Gate width, and side-hill degrees. There are gate widths that will destroy wide rigs, and sidehills that will eliminate stock width rigs. Seems class separation is in order? The judge thing is a bit of a challenge too. Maybe non-judge participation is a solution? It would kill the flow to have to "review the play". Lol and maybe kill the fun too, but so will unfair judging (by accident or otherwise). What to do...
I sold out and will not compete because of favoritism and the unfair judging and not because I’ve lost I have placed well and first . I might get into 10th scale or just building scale fun trucks. Seen it to many times im good
Also, i love that roll cage on the last rig! That's awesome! Where can i get one of those or the 3D file? I'll have to do some hunting. That is one awesome build you have there.
Thanks, the event was at RC360Hobbies in Washington state, it was a lot of fun. Also I saw your other comment about the cage on my comp rig, that cage is not 3D printed it’s made of some plastic bits I had laying around combined with the back roll bar of an fcx24 mixed with the roll cage from a scx24 deadbbolt. Haha it’s a Frankenstein rear cage but it turned out great 😄🤙🏻
@@UpperLeftRC wow! That's awesome! It's an excellent looking cage. I'd love to see the rig closer. I use my phone to watch these, took a screenshot to zoom in, but it just left me wanting to look under the hood! Lol
Super fun. Gates look pretty dang narrow. Thanks for getting some great footage. Glad to see you did so well. Im thinking there could’ve been a lot of winch opportunities to stay off of some of those gates.
Yeah the course is not very challenging and so the gates were made narrow to add difficulty, didn’t want everyone pulling perfect scores haha it was a lot of fun!
beautiful course design, i dig how modular and transportable these are. do you know about how heavy each square is? thanks for the footage, i was trying to attend as a spectator but work is unpredictable
As much as I enjoy this stuff and have spent probably more than I should have on little toy cars lol Part of me feels like I just watched extreme parallel parking
I would really love to come to one of these and participate. Is there a age requirement im only 15. Also keep up the great work definitely my favorite rc UA-camr around.
@@Mense08 the only registration for these events is 30 minutes before the runs start and the info on dates, times etc. can be found on the RC360Hobbies Facebook page or Instagram. Hope that helps and hope to see you at the next one if you can make it 👍🏻
Wow 57 trucks
Yeah it was crazy! 🤘🏼😆

They just move it into the store after the comp. I think it's 4 pieces and they can't be heavy
It’s all good brotha, maybe the next one! The courses are 2foot by 4foot and about 6 pounds probably
Nice looking mix of trucks. Looked like a blast!
It was!
Nice run dustin you did better than some of those rear steer rigs for sure. Showed some great driving skill.
Thanks brotha! 😄🤙🏻
