As a boxer and former wrestler, I feel I know what True, effective martial arts are, and because of that I tend to not listen or pay attention so much to the more Japanese influenced arts such as a keto etc. as they usually look like one way sparring session’s against a helpless dummy who does nothing and gives no resistance. Well I listen to sensei Williams, the guy has game, serious awareness and intelligence. One of my main core believes is that we must always be open to things, immerse ourselves in different viewpoints and perspectives instead of just shutting down one side because we think it’s wrong when in actuality we know nothing about it. Today’s “cancel culture” wants to tell you what to think, and label what you have never heard so you won’t listen to opposition. They name it “hate speech” when in reality, it poses a threat to their legitimacy, and thus the false narrative that it is not worth listening to. Thank you Sensei Williams!

26:00 Mizu no Kokoro - training to stay "as calm as you possibly can"
27:00 Knowing why you do what you do (violence), important of precision, letting go of the need to "control" what's outside of your control

35:10 Empowering people by teaching preparedness, resilience

He’s spot on. Winning on the battlefield, or street is more about ambush and trickery than a mutual test of skills.

I remember being a front seat passenger with James in his car in the 90's. He was always spinning an unsheathed fixed blade around with his non-driving hand, and all I could think of was where that knife was going to end up if we got T-boned (I assumed it would end up in me of course). Looking good James.

My James story was I just got my cast off my foot from it being broken in half. I was taking my 2nd class with James but I had known him + spoke with him and became personal. Lol so we're in class he look at me for a demo and tells me he is going to step on my foot. Lol I was like ahhh you know what foot I just got back, so what foot does he step on? Yes you guessed it. James has been a long distance friend for many years. His craft is so much more than those out there think. Good teacher of the mind around fighting I sat.

Love the ITS videos, you guys put out a fantastic product, but this one touched on a pet peeve of mine. I find you are almost always better off packing med gear that you can actually use, rather than packing tools for advanced intervention that you have no training/experience with. The vast majority of emergent care is going to be basic life support anyway, and besides that there are few pieces of kit that should be carried. The space is most often better used carrying additional BLS supplies.
