based on some comments i can see that some people think that "tourist" here means "foreign visitors". but it is not the case. "Tourism" in USSR was not only about going overseas. Russia is very big after all so its more about going from one part of country to another one. Tourist simply means traveler/hiker in this case. Domestic tourism. Ration is made for Russian hikers.
Any replies, made by myself, are made in good humor, and propose A laugh. Other peoples responses, well, unsure friend. Outdoor Tactical, will , tell you I am not normal, but, In ration and review land, well, make more sense than some sir. Peace, John, Magnum, all said in joke form sir.
If your looking for a high calorific food, then the Russian rations are the bomb. The weight v energy ratio for a camping trip they are perfect. Great review Nathan 👍
It says "borscht" on soup can. as Russian i demand more beets so it will be as red as spoon! and if seriously then everything looks of good quality but it looks like tourists does not need to purify water according to lack of pills. and id also include some chocolate or oatmeal. P.S. Dark cubes in soup was beets as one of basic components of borscht family soups. Gum was "Tutti-Frutti" flavour.
Man, that looks like something I need to try myself. It all looks amazing! Many similar components to a standard Russian military ration. I have been a huge fan of the Russian rations. Heck yeah, you added the toushanka fat to the kasha! Smart move. I've had many different types of the veggie caviar, but you are right, it's an acquired taste, because I can't stand any of them, lol. Nice review Nathan!
Crazy that I am really learning to read cyrillic via Russian friends and UA-cam, I saw it said Tourist which as pointed out means backpacking ration and damn that food looks awesome, I swear ANY Russian MRE is going to be awesome, they just know how to do it right!
I've never seen this MRE before. The last MRE I bought I noticed they have reduced the cheese spread portion. I've found the small Tabasco sauce is the right amount when I ate a regular breakfast. Great video as usual. Looking forward to the next cooking video.
I know it's gimmicky but it costs somewhere in the region of about $20-30 (not including import costs) and you could eat out in Russia quite well for the same amount over 24 hours.
Really nice of Outdoor Tactical sending this to you. Everything looked really good with a lot of my favorite items. The vegetable caviar you had was the one i like the most. I think it tastes sweeter since it has more carrot in it. I would also loved to have tried the soup. Maybe one day i will find this ration and try it out too. Thanks for sharing!
If you like Russian stuff you might consider getting a Russian watch like a Vostok or even vintage Raketa one they are awesome if you get a good, serviced mechanical one from a good seller you will not be disappointed they are so good!
Great review, I especially liked the intro music, "O Sacred War." It's a catchy tune. (You've done your research.) 👍 I'm wondering if that ration is the part of the "All Inclusive" economy plan for tourists from Uzbekistan or Tajikistan? LOL.
Hi....been on holiday and now catching up on your videos....Looks like you have had a busy week and tried some great rations!....I've seen these tourist rations and wondered how they compare to the Russian military ones....They do look good and I might give one a try in the future......Just checked my subs. and now over 300!.....very much appreciated for the shout out!....ATB....Mick
Great video. This ration looks a lot like there military ration. How are you able to scan,& read a translation with your smartphone? Never saw that before. Thanks.
As always nothing much to say about it Nathan, except NICE. I think i go down in the basement and get out one of my russian rations and try to taste one. I have this military ration from the same company that you reviewed some time ago.
That all looks really tasty. Do russian mre's ever have chicken or turkey. They seem to like mainly heavy meat dishes, not complaining as that food looks amazing.
Thanks for the review of a slightly different ration, I think the military rations are a bit better but mostly because I want to try apple butter, I would like to try Kasha but from what I could find you have to buy the grain and make it yourself and I am a terrible cook. I’m in England though so it’s not that shocking.
why you always eat it cold? you never actually show it getting heated or use the mini stove that comes with it, I am just curious why? those things look gross when still cold in packaging, that and they are meant to be heated with stove they supply you
Holy smokes, that looks absolutely awesome. I'm dying for some Kasha, but there isn't a damn thing to be found anywhere near me. And that chunk of corned beef has me almost drooling. Great find, that was cool to see. Now I'm hungry, and it's all your fault. lol...
MorningWood, we have tourists, that, come to my Lake Cumberland, here in Kentucky, and , man, some do look delicious !!! Not in the Hannibal the Cannibal way, LOL.
Seems like a very luxerous and expensive MRE. Looks so inviting, wow. As always, you present the meal in a very pleasant and unique way. Excellent buddy :) :)
Hello. Great videos man , been watching your videos for quite some time now awsome , keep it up. I would only give note on the way you translate forein languages in front of camera. It would be nice if you could like translate it before , and just say it in the video without showing on the phone app translator while reviewing the item. But it's still your choice this is only my opinion.
So if they intend this for tourist consumption, I would have thought there would be a version that has english printed on it, since it would be easier for tourists to understand, with no need for translation apps... Great review. I would eat most of it, but the soup did not look like I would enjoy at all. Not a big fan of veggies...
there is one type of commercial "modern" rations that has all Rus + Eng on it. It comes in single meal packages and typicaly with flameless heaters. It has slightly wider variety of dishes. Brand called "PROviant".
+Harald Lorentzen In this case "tourist" means "traveler/hiker". Russia is *much* larger than the United States, and tourism doesn't always mean "foreign visitors". This ration is marketed at Russian hikers, not American tourists.
Wow what a neat ration, looks like they put the best of the best in it, to make a good first impression on tourists about Russia lol. But I’m surprised it’s not already got multiple languages on the packaging including English, cause what’s the chances that a tourists is gonna be Russian, or already know how to read and speak Russian. If the tourist is Russian, they wouldn’t be a tourist lol.
+DUBB85 Kasha is European buckwheat kernels. Try Amazon or Vitacost, or even Wal-Mart's website. Search for "kasha" or "buckwheat". You should be able to find what you're looking for. As for the actual recipes, there are plenty of websites that have kasha recipes. My favorite was in the Washington Post... Kasha pilaf, with chicken, mushrooms and onions.
16:45 it's at this point that I realized that this is not a real long-life food storage it's just a gimmick. NUT in a clear plastic bag! forget about it.

Russia is very big after all so its more about going from one part of country to another one. Tourist simply means traveler/hiker in this case. Domestic tourism. Ration is made for Russian hikers.
Thanks for the clarification .. I assumed it was for traditional tourists or vacationers ... this makes more sense! :)
Cool!

Love how it translates the mre name into CORPSES
Noticed that too huh?!?!? I find it particularly way too convenient!
soylent green
Oh good i thought i was crazy for a sec
It also made "tourist" into "turrets" lol
It says "borscht" on soup can. as Russian i demand more beets so it will be as red as spoon!

I think beets are an acquired taste. I don't eat them except pickled from time to time. We grow them to feed the cattle, they love them.
@DizzyWillow You wouldn’t make it as an Australian, as we often put sliced beetroot on hamburgers!
The borshch looks nice, but you’re right. It could do with more beets in it.
Actually.. The soup looks quite good!
Man, that looks like something I need to try myself. It all looks amazing! Many similar components to a standard Russian military ration.

This channel deserves more love. Nathan you’re the kind of bloke any one in their right mind would want to sit down and share a beer with
Thank you

What is the name of that translator app?
I think it's Google Translate m8...
I hope that's the right app? Will check it out. Thanks.
If you like Russian stuff you might consider getting a Russian watch like a Vostok or even vintage Raketa one they are awesome if you get a good, serviced mechanical one from a good seller you will not be disappointed they are so good!
That ALL looks so good!! I'm a fan of the Russian MRE's and I would love one of these ones. Thanks for the review.
all of the best dishes from the russian rations (minus the apple butter) Awesome ration and a great review.
Those tins opened so easily, for a change 👍
Great review, I especially liked the intro music, "O Sacred War." It's a catchy tune. (You've done your research.) 👍 I'm wondering if that ration is the part of the "All Inclusive" economy plan for tourists from Uzbekistan or Tajikistan? LOL.
Great review Nathan. I love the kasha with just a little bit of sugar on it. 👍
I would be mixing the meats and sides together. Everything looks great. Did you eat leftovers?

Just checked and 305 is great man, very happy to see that, thanks for watching
@@NathansMRE do you speak Russian
Great video. This ration looks a lot like there military ration. How are you able to scan,& read a translation with your smartphone? Never saw that before. Thanks.
very interesting, would be neat to see the camping ration this company does
We needed to see the plate in action it at least for 20 seconds, feels like that was missing
Hello sir...nice vid...by the way, what kind of translator app you're using in your phone?thanks...
So beefelicious!!! Keep up the great reviews, man!
That’s a really nice table top. Is it carved wood, or some synthetic material??
No one seems to talk about the salt coating amount. Very salty, plain with no salt, You know, that kind of stuff. Cruise on Nathan.
"Tourist breakfast" cans...reminds me of playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R
As always nothing much to say about it Nathan, except NICE. I think i go down in the basement and get out one of my russian rations and try to taste one. I have this military ration from the same company that you reviewed some time ago.
Is there a difference between the hand/face wipe vs the silverware wipe?
That all looks really tasty. Do russian mre's ever have chicken or turkey. They seem to like mainly heavy meat dishes, not complaining as that food looks amazing.
I wish www.allmres.com had these. These things look deluxe, but honestly a little bulky for field work.
Thanks for the review of a slightly different ration, I think the military rations are a bit better but mostly because I want to try apple butter, I would like to try Kasha but from what I could find you have to buy the grain and make it yourself and I am a terrible cook. Hey nathan what's the name of that app your using to translate
dave griffith That was cool..😺
Whats the name of the camera app you use for the transaltions?
Its the S9 Samsung .Its used by the bixby app on the phone
@Wolf c18 my bad my s9 has the same translators
I've given them many chances, many tries I just haven't a Russian ration I liked yet.
Impressive, all items looks good.
OUTDOOR TACTICAL no doubt
A tourist ration never heard of one before. Good video
Is it only in the movies, where Russians put Blackcurrant Jam/Jelly in their tea?
Tourists delight? Now you just need some vodka and a smoke to help with the radiation.
@King Rottennoggin Boris is but a tourist himself to the zone.
If someone could please help and tell me some company which ships to India. Desperate for Foriegn MRE. Thank you
why you always eat it cold? you never actually show it getting heated or use the mini stove that comes with it, I am just curious why? those things look gross when still cold in packaging, that and they are meant to be heated with stove they supply you
What is that translator app called?
The other ration that you didn't try is for hunters/fishers.
great review Russian coffee is about the best
The gum say "Tutti Frutti " flavor. Kinda distant similarity to Wriggly's Juicy Fruit.
How can it be silverware when plastic and red ?
Holy smokes, that looks absolutely awesome. I'm dying for some Kasha, but there isn't a damn thing to be found anywhere near me. And that chunk of corned beef has me almost drooling. Great find, that was cool to see. Now I'm hungry, and it's all your fault. lol...
Great looking ration. Another great ration review Nathan. 2 thumbs up for Outdoor Tactical.
More than 2, thumbs up , friends !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What app are you using to translate through the picture like that?
I can already tell this is going to be a cool ration! Your hand/wrist looks a little swollen today. I hope its not bothering you at all!
It does not hurt anyone , got lucky with that whole deal really , thank you for watching Stephanie
Got hungry because of this video
Tourist corpses turrets? Sounds good 👍
great vid nathan look forward to next review
Anybody know why the tin lids have three dimples on them?
Great mix an match .Great vid . Thumbs up.
Is it called the tourist ration because it contains tourists? I tried pig knuckles, and 23 year old cheese, but I am not sure about a tourist, lol.
havent you seen there was canned tourist for breakfast? :D
MorningWood, we have tourists, that, come to my Lake Cumberland, here in Kentucky, and , man, some do look delicious !!! Not in the Hannibal the Cannibal way, LOL.
Anyone know whats the beef between this guy and steve?
I love this channel. Keep the videos coming.
What is the name of the camera translator app you used at the begging of video ?
what is the name of the translator you used on your phone?
Google translate
I'd like to try one
Wow Nathan, what a dramatic intro!
Where can ya buy these?
Hi please name this app using translation Russian to English camera app
Hi can u tell me what translation app you have thanks
18:49 BWAHAHAHAHA.... Translator: "Chewing Rubber"
Didn't we do a lot of that in school? I remember some of the cafeteria food being kind of rubbery... xD
I have no idea how to cleverly represent 'Coneheads' in text, so I'll just leave this here...
I guess you forgot the tea. But great video, as always.
Еhere it is written "tutti-frutty" taste of gum ))
Seems like a very luxerous and expensive MRE. Looks so inviting, wow. As always, you present the meal in a very pleasant and unique way. Excellent buddy :) :)
Thanks for watching man , glad you liked it
Score Nathan! Right on Outdoor Tactical!
What the name of that app that you used to translate the writing
Do you ever eat the full meal all of it??
I always do, not on video though

Some people like it when I do it on camera and some dont, so I do it both ways sometimes, thank you for watching
That’s NOT BAD for a 24 hr Ration,I would eat that than anything Freeze Dried.
Holy smokes
Which is that app
I want that too
a question... um what app is it u hv to translate? I need that ..
thank u 😊
When something translates to tourists and corpses I'd have second thoughts about eating it.
What did you use to translate
Enjoyed that.
I would never tell you to pour grease in your food.
So if they intend this for tourist consumption, I would have thought there would be a version that has english printed on it, since it would be easier for tourists to understand, with no need for translation apps...

That does make more sense, but I would have rebadged it to say "hiker/traveler" to avoid confusion like this to happen in the first place...
Thanks Nathan for reviewing this interesting ration. Oh yeah, mixing the drippings with the kawa. Any idea where I can get some of these?
@@outdoortactical4727 , thanks. A Russian site. I will try to make a purchase.
Thanks Jon, glad you liked it

Hi Nate
Greetings from Juarez City - Mexico
Hello I have been there, stay safe man that place is about as dangerous as Chicago !!!
