I prefer without the plugins added. I have both these mics also. The Sennheiser perfect has it is. The Rode has a beautiful sound also. If I were to make any changes to the audio, I would make them meet in the middle. If you make the Sennheiser more crisp and more sibilant it sounds wrong and a little jarring, especially over time, similarly if the NTG3 is made to sound more warm and bassy it loses its clarity and can sound a little muddy. I purchased my NTG3 first and loved it, and then purchased the 416, thinking would replace the NTG3, but instead, I found that I loved them both.

Im sibilance sensitive and I much prefer the NTG3.
