    Buddy> of all the vid's I've watched, this one is the VERY best on P0420!! GREAT job! Not sure what "Fire" is LOL! But I get the point. I'm headed to auto-parts store for laser thermometer for more testing. My 2001 Tundra 2WD with a 3.4L just threw the P0420. I'm DREADING the possibility that it's the CAT or BOTH CATs!! But it probably is, at least, one of them!!! I'll post again when I sort out my problem> it's pouring outside (Grass Valley) so I'll probably knock this out in a couple days.

      I appreciate the support! Glad this video is helping, I wanted to cover all of the stuff that I learned from other videos and put it all into one. I'm stoked it's helping as much as it is! But for sure on the laser thermometer. I hope you don't have to replace both cats. I ended up having to after I tried the sensors. If you end up trying the 02 sensors first( if you haven't already) I would recommend staying away from the Bosch sensors. I had one fail within a year. I always love the updates of people fixing thier codes, so I'm looking forward to hearing back from you! Again I appreciate you and hope you get that Tundra running smooth again!🙏🏽🥷🏽🙏🏽🥷🏽🙏🏽

    Why did you replace the back cat first? My 99 4runner has the same problem but I want to diagnose the front or back before doing anything myself. I had a shop work on it for two weeks and $1000 later and the issue wasn’t fixed. After doing my own research, I know it’s definitely a clogged or faulty cat.

    • @DrokuNinjah
      @DrokuNinjah  Рік тому +1

      Hi there! Apologies on the late reply. I replaced the rear cat first because that one usually goes out first (from what I have heard through research) but it was most definitely both cats that needed replacing because if one is going out, then most likely the other cat will be right behind it. I replaced the rear cat first ( I have another video of that) then the P0420 CODE came back after taking a trip to the bay area. If you have an infrared thermometer, then you can diagnose if your cat(s) are clogged by reading the front of the cats temp(while hot) and then the back of the cat. If the front of the cat is around 100 degrees hotter than the back, you most likely have a clogged cat. In my case, they were both going out, so I wish I would have done that in the first place. I know it's hard to determine if you need to replace both but if you end up solving your problem with just replacing one of the cats, that would be awesome! Apologies on the super long reply, but I hope this helps and I look forward to hearing if you get your issue resolved! Thank you for watching!!!🙏🏽🥷🏽🔥

    • @DrokuNinjah
      @DrokuNinjah  2 роки тому +1

      I gotchu! I would saturate the sh*t out of the bolts with some PB blast then if you have one, torch them with some heat if they are difficult to remove with a your socket and breaker bar(s) 2 breaker bars help for removing the rear cat. And for the front cat you will need some extentions. I have a 10 inch extension I used to get to the nuts for the front cat.

    • @DrokuNinjah
      @DrokuNinjah  2 роки тому +1

      The heat really helps if you have a torch. Or if you have to purchase one from the smoke shop they are pretty cheap. I would heat them up for 3-5 mins( depending on how stuck they are) and that really gets those things off! And safety glasses are a MUST🙏🏽🔥
