Evidently red bull doesn't give you wings as fast as a falcons… but still pretty darn fast! This was an awesome vid!
Downhill mountain bike legend, Gee Atherton, is hunted by the fastest bird in the world, a peregrine falcon in our special collaboration with Red Bull
So much fun watching the behind the scenes. Gotta give credit to the final production, seeing as all these shots are bits and pieces of nearly a dozen of these chases; looks great to watch and doesn't seem like split pieces. From the looks of it, the falcon kept catching the bait *within 15 seconds* of Lloyd removing its hood, which is why they had to do so many shots. This vid, although awesome, doesn't do the Falcon's hunting skills justice.
I'd want to see this be done with a Goshawk (as RHCowboy mentioned) or a Swift (arguably the most aerially skilled bird on the planet).
In Australia, Magpies do this automatically without training.
In Victoria Canada, we get crows doing it, even seagulls if grumpy and hungry enough! I bet magpies are related to crows. They behave and look similar. Saw a hilarious vid of some guy getting attacked by one, funny shit.

That was surprisingly entertaining. Obviously the falcon is so much faster. The dodging, jumps and weaving made it tricky. I liked the side on views of both of them, seeing the bird change its course and attack. I liked it
unbelivible how fast and gracefully the falcon acting !!! The downhill rider has had not a bit of a chance !
Seems like the Falcon may have enjoyed that challenge, not sure what the actually time was from start to catch but it looked like Gee got a great ride in before caught! Awesome!

with it will be even easyer for the falcon to catch it cuz he cant do that moves left right and the jumps

Amazing video the slow-mop of the bird is unbelievably insane the changes in body movement are so rapid and precise to cool
Very cool video. What's even more amazing is that an agile catch like that isn't even the peregrine's strong suit. Peregrine's are known for their speed (a dive of around 200mph). When they dive at that speed, they are hunting other birds such as pigeons which are in flight and not prone the the back/forth of the cyclist. That amazing dive speed is more like a bullet hitting a target that is comparatively crawling. An African Goshawk (known for extreme mobility in wooded areas) would snatch that target without even trying.

I like scenes to last more than 2 seconds. Changing between cameras so rapidly is at least annoying and removes any perspective of the scene.

This wasn't done in one take. If you pay attention, you will notice that in some scenes Gee's helmet cam is absent, while present in others.

The fact that there isn't more falcon cam footage is because it was probably too unstable to be watchable. If anything this proves that if a peregrine had "HD cam" eyes, it would starve. Thumbs up for falcon vision.

you guys should just post the uncut bird cam, hell i know it will be super shaky but i would love to see it without so much editing,get a sense of the flight path the bird takes compared to gee, and the speed.

I can't believe the Uploader actually responded to so many simple minded comments...this world is full of haters who have no critical thinking skills and see things at most 2 layers deep...,....This IS the coolest video I have ever watched-combined with the bike part as well.....This is what the falcon was built to do....you don't think this happens in the wild??? seriously-The falcon prob had more fun that all the humans involved creating this masterpiece
