Looks awesome dude! All the songs sound really cool too!! My favorite was Please Return Your Seat... I was playing along on the surface of my desk lol Keep it up!🤘
Hey! Primarily we'll be focusing on making a small story surrounding the game. There are a ton of other features that I plan on including but I don't want to make any promises I can't keep -- said features include things like Workshop integration for custom tracks and Steam based multiplayer. Thanks so much for your question!
looks great! i must state that the boxes on the edges can sometimes be hard to distinguish from the background to viewers with monochromia or color deficiency, though.
Hey Wade, nice game! I'm a game developer myself and I'm wondering how you save the sequences of notes and control their spawning from that data structure? I've only tried to make a very basic rhythm game before but with the techniques I can think up, saving very accurate (sub-frame) timings would be quite difficult and probably inefficient, so I'd love to hear how you handle it.
hi there! I ended up just using midi files since it made it trivial to just take a song I made in FL and make a MIDI out channel where I have a script in GML that can parse the MIDI file into an array of note structs that basically just contain their start time in MS and then I try to have it just fall down with delta timing so as to not desync from the song. I am not actively working on this project anymore but I would be happy to share the source of what I finished if you'd like to look!
@@big-wade I'd never say no to an opportunity like that. I've found an own way create accurate charts by using the Audacity labels feature, since I don't have access to the original track. It's functional enough but looking into your code might be interesting still. You mention GML, so you were using GameMaker also? What a coincidence, I am working with GMS2 myself.
@@MrLevRocks Indeed! This project is written in GameMaker. I made the repository public -- I'm not sure in what state I left this project but I hope it helps! github.com/MD-Wade/2b

(Got here from an unforgettable luncheon.) Looks like fun! Are you manually designing the track, or is it procedural from the song?
Built by hand, using MIDI files for charts :)
I don't think I've ever played a game like this before in my life
How is this notably different than already existing rhythm games like step mania or osu mania?

This is very cool! I like the slight movement on the stats.
Very neat! Love the way this is coming along.
sounds pretty sweet!
Underrated.
Edit: by the way, can I use the sfx of the steamed hams video you made for a video/s? I'll credit you :>

@@big-wade Thx :)

@@big-wade Thank you, I'll take a look inside.
You mentioned you're not working on the game anymore, that's a shame. Any reason for that?

hell yeah
Looks neat but imo its hard to follow which notes you're playing at times. Like, the distinction doesnt seem so clear
you could go the qwop route and name it sdfjkl
nice
I rlly like "Inside" by Melodungeon tho - can you listen to these tracks anywhere else?
Yes! Most are unavailable but that one's by my friend and codesigner and is already available on his SoundCloud: soundcloud.com/melodungeon/inside
