    Pro tip, I highly recommend taking out the food grades prior to drilling, it's never a good idea to have metal shavings getting on any part of the cooking surface. Also when I ordered my latches they did not come with the bolts, so I got stainless steel bolts and nuts from Lowe's.

    You are the first video who stated what size holes/screws. I bought the latches but they didn't come with nuts or bolts. Oh wait i don't own a drill...lol

    Great video! I was wondering, where did you acquire those types of grill grates?

    Nice grates. Did you build those? Or did you get a high-dollar version of the OKJ Highland? 🤔

    fantastic video thank you! Might be a stupid question but what would happen if you put a small square of that gasket down under the clamp? Meaning your screws would go through the gasket to help make it air tight? Would this work or fall apart?

    You're supposed to put the gasket on the lid, not the barrel.

    What type of screws did you use on the latches?

    What size screws you used because my hardware didn't come with any?

    Can you use the Latches with a Combo? There doesn't look like much room on either side? Maybe vertically, on the bottom?

    Wont the gasket just peel off after a few uses if you dont use RTV?

    • @cmsense8193
      @cmsense8193 2 роки тому

      Correct. It’ll peel. The high heat and smoke oils will eventually find their way in and weaken the seal. I used rtv and works ok. Also those clamps are a waste if your doors are warped in any way. I’m thinking about buying a stove seal kit and seal cement in the future.

    I just installed lava lock gaskets on my ohklahoma joes highland dmoke and now the bottom of the lid doesn't even overlap the gasket there is a space between the bottom of my lid and the top of the overlap space on the bottom anyone know why? Or how to make that not happen?

      bbqsmokermods.com/oem-smoker-mods-by-brand/oklahoma-joe-s/highland/bigcooktm-expantion-rack-system-for-ok-joe-highland-by-total-controlr-bbq.html
      It's the Big Cook expansion rack from BBQ Smoker Mods. Mine are installed "upside down," but it's easy to pull them out and flip them over. I just find I get a little more room with them inserted like this.
