The actress says she was previously unaware of allegations of sexual harassment which have since emerged against the film producer.
Weinstein has "unequivocally denied" any allegations of non-consensual sex.

I think i first saw Emma Thompson in Dead Again, and have loved her as an actress since then. But, this shows what a truly remarkable and courageous person she is, that she refuses to be a part of the "conspiracy of silence", that allows this abusive behavior to exist.
While I'm glad this is bringing the issue out, the idea that this is primarily a problem within the film industry is totally bogus. Sexual harassment is an issue that virtually every woman in the world has experienced. Thanks to Ms. Thompson for pointing it out.

I have been working at addressing this kind of violence, exploitation, trauma etc my whole life. That's a lot of decades of giving voice to that which we don't speak about.

Maybe politics? In the entertainment industry, you have to be fakingly nice to the right people to advance your career-- especially to someone as powerful as Weinstein. At least, that's what I heard anyway.

Who the fuck cares what job he has? He's a guy on the internet. If there are Hollywood actors who knew about Weinstein's actions, praised him as a Hollywood god (like Meryl Streep and Ben Affleck) and now they act like victims (ohhhhhhhh we did not know about that, we are so shocked now, we feel screwed) it is an absolute disgrace indeed. Especially that moron Meryl Streep who praised him and in the same breath gave Mother Theresa-like speeches about BULLYING. Wonderful!
