Thanks for posting this. I saw CB&TMB 3 times. Formative experiences, especially the first, at Bickershaw, 1972. I have deep, abiding gratitude towards CB and John Peel, who introduced so many of us to CB. My first taste was listening, with my ear to the speaker of a transistor radio, to "Grow fins," from the Spotlight Kid album. It did not prepare me for what I witnessed on stage. Like you, I then had to rewind to "Decals" & "Troutmask". I would never be the same again 😅
This was a really fantastic listen for me, as both a Beefheart and Peel fan. I had listened to his shows since the mid 1980s until his death and i always enjoyed it when he would mention the Captain and his phone calls. I will share this on my Captain Beefheart facebook fan page.
About six months after this conversation I was sent a VHS with much of the CB footage you can now watch on UA-cam, including the OGWT stuff, but more excitingly the Detroit ‘71 TV set, which completely blew me away.
Wonderful. Thank you so much for uploading!

Many thanks for posting this. Some very interesting points made about both Don and John.
This is really marvellous, Rhodri - thank you for sharing
Upon The My O My and This Is The Day from that 1974 OGWT set are on this site. No hat and no Whispering Bob, but still recommended.
