  • 28ft houseboat catamaran "Havos".
Very comfortable liveaboard for a couple and an ideal river/estuary cruiser. Originally launched in 1977 as a Catfisher 28 sailing catamaran the rig has been removed and it has been professionally redesigned and refitted as a live aboard motorboat. Probably the most accommodation you can get for the length on any boat.
    Length 28ft Beam 13ft Draft 2ft6in displacement 3.5T. Cruising speed 5.5 knots.
Very solid grp hulls and decks. Most of the interior was refitted in 2018/19. It has been used as a full time floating cruising home for 3 summers (May - Oct).
Full headroom throughout. 5ft wide double bunk with sitting headroom over. Plus spare single bunk. Big shower compartment. Separate heads compartment (composting toilet, so no smell and no skin fittings or holding tank) Metal framed opening windows and portlights (12 in total). Galley with Plastimo oven/2 burner/grill stove. 12sqft worktop. Big "pantry" area. Masses of galley stowage. Saloon seats 6 comfortably. Teak/holly flooring throughout.
Fully self contained - 550W solar and MPPT regulator powers everything. Trojan batteries new 2019. Shorepower (professionally installed) with sockets in each cabin.
25hp high thrust Mercury outboard (2005) serviced 2018/2019. Spare, permanently mounted, high thrust Yamaha 8hp. Both remote control, electric start. Sunbrella bimini covers cockpit.
Fenders, warps, etc. St steel boarding ladders, boat hook. LED Anchor light, nav lights. Flares. 25lb Delta anchor, plus kedge. Electric anchor winch. Radar, VHF, fishfinder echo sounder. GPS. Plastimo compass.
2 water tanks, both new in 2018. New galley pumps (hand and electric). Waeco fridge, compressor driven so very low power. CD player in saloon. TV with surround sound in bunk. LED lights.
Some refit jobs still to do:- Reinstall the central heating. Some cosmetic painting inside and out. Hot water for shower (shower curtains, tray and drain are fitted).
    A perfect Covid sanctuary!

The description says it all. A Catfisher 28 converted to a powercat. (The US version was extended to 32ft, which made it a slightly better boat at sea) We bought it as a semi wreck, did a lot of work on it pre covid and used it as a houseboat when we were in the UK. We sold it a couple of years ago and it is now on the east coast UK

It is a Catfisher 28 built in 1977 and originally a sailing (sort of!) catamaran. We bought it a few years ago then modified it into a comfortable liveaboard for the two of us when we were in the UK. We stayed on it for three summers. But now we live ashore fulltime in a house so don't need it (You can see our house in thebackground as the boat is moored almost in front of our house) So not my design or build, just modified and rebuilt by us.
