Took me forever to finish that mission too until I found out by a happy chance, that if I used the Dark Bomb on the waters surface, I could disable that underwater sentry gun and then use the jetboard to avoid all the guards
It's actually not that difficult. Most important part to remember, is that the guards are less likely to hit you, if they are off camera. All you have to do is use the yellow gun, kill the guards in front of you then the few behind you, then move forward. Rinse and repeat. Blue gun also works, but I usually use it at the end of the mission, as I usually run out of ammo otherwise.
@@MysteryMouseketoolIt's best to stick to just the blue gun. If you mosey around the docks for a little while just killing guards to refill ammo before actually attempting the mission, every single ammo drop from guards will be all be blue, as long as you have every other gun's ammo fully maxed out to full capacity.
Race with errol and escaping the slums made me rage hard as fuck as a child 😂😂 screaming at the TV trying for a few days on both missions when I got to em like fuck , and I was playing ninja Gaiden at the time
@andrew-rn9ui I remember making it to the very end of the dock only to get shot in the back before the cutscene and Save logo. The amount of frustration, I tell ya. With Jak II, if it ain’t perfect, it ain’t it!
So right! I personally hate when platformer games force you to race to advance. I'm not good at racing games and it's a struggle everytime. Jak, Sly, and Ratchet & Clank are all guilty of it too.
Good video man. The blue gun is hands down the best gun in the game, it just takes getting used to, as the roll/roll jump move goes really well with the blue gun. Too bad they don't explicitly tell you how to do it, as most go by the game not ever doing it which is sad.
I discovered that move by mistake, skills! Most people stick with the yellow blaster spin jump shot. But I found that technique to be boring and redundant if used too much.
@@ItsTheZigManthe reflector version in jak 3 was awesome as fuck tho 😂 , jak 3 guns were all pretty fun challenging yourself to do missions with only one mod n stuff like that
IMHO, the game’s hardest mission is using the Gunpod at the docks, especially at the start. The gun not only overheats fast, it’s also inverted horizontally, so it functions like wank. It never helps that Jetpack guards may sometimes cheese you by hiding underneath the railing, so they can pelt you with no consequence.
This is a great video. I think modding with OpenGOAL will make this game a lot more accessible to gamers that aren't complete masochists, especially when people can un-botch the atrocious checkpoint system lol. However, I think Jak II's gameplay will always resonate more with people that enjoy roguelikes and other similarly difficult genres that thrive on repeating segments until you master them. The countless bottomless pits, low health, and hordes of enemies throughout the game just seems to scratch a specific itch for me that few games have replicated.
I beat Jak 2, and I'm pretty bad at video games. I beat 1 as well. I never beat 3. The final boss and all the platforming were super easy, but I couldn't beat like 3 mini games and the car part of the terraformer.
I found it enjoyable after getting hero mode and getting all dark powers and having dark giant jak and took out the metal head leader out easy. But its still easier without having hero mode, so long as I had giant jak, otherwise it would take me a few trys before I beat him.
@ItsTheZigMan I'm replaying the game on my PS2 now, and I might just not remember the difficulty spikes. I do remember there being some ridiculous missions on Jak 3, but I don't remember a ton of Jak 2. I'm doing 100% runs on all 3, so we will see how that goes!
For me, the hardest mission was escaping from the docks with the guards chasing you

@ItsTheZigMan yes I discovered that yesterday, lol. Hell if I knew...

If you move slow it’s easy , rush and you’re dead
If you have difficulty finding the buttons in the Get piece at dig level there is a simple solution, the map display the buttons locations
Big thanks! I hardly ever used the map on my playthrough, that would have saved me a lot of time 😅
hardest for me was the race with erol through the city
I loved that mission! Especially with Dacter at the wheel, they were difficult tho!

Re attempt is even worse than the first time

Daxter's the best sidekick 😂
Would you say he’s better than Clank? 😁
@@ItsTheZigManDaxter is better by far.
How is that mar piece on the docks not even on this list?

I feel the same way about the gun turret in Jak 3
Nice video! I enjoyed the commentary.

I agree, Jak II isn’t for the casual player. The difficulty of Jak II is what made it iconic, esp to those who completed the game
Drill platform hero mode is the hardest easily. There's a reason Jak 3 removed overheating and made the turret hitscan
Absolutely the hardest mission, even cheats make no difference
Jak 2 is definitely HARD but I love it
It’s definitely worth a playthrough @southernmamagamer
@ absolutely!
Can you make a video about Ratchet and Clank?
Which one would you like to see?

Onin’s Challenge, and Dexter’s Whack-A-MetalHead missions are the only ones that would really kill my run
Daxter’s Missile Launch mission was the worst for me
Love this game. Still do a play through sometimes.
And it’s worth it every time, a real gem

I’d transform into dark Jak and crawl around like a beast knocking all the towns folk over and causing mayhem against the hellcat cruisers
For me it was the race with errol and escaping the slums when all the guards ans gunships keep buttfuckung your face into oblivion 😂
I despised all three races, esp the one with Errol. Had to perfect all the ballsy shortcuts to get the lead 😵💫
I beat this as a child. Skill issue....
@chancemorine1642 Beating it was never an issue. Skill doesn’t take away from the fact that these missions are intentionally difficult
