- On June 28th, 2007 the Portland Trail Blazers selected Greg Oden with the first overall pick despite leaving one of the best scorers of our lifetime on the board waiting. Today we cover what happened to almost every pick in this draft class and what happened during their NBA careers.

Oden ain't a bust. He's a victim of injuries. Those are two very different things. It's unfair for him because he never really got to showcase what he got.

Greg Oden's best game was in his "2nd year of playing" 2009-01-19. +27 plus/minus, 24 pts, 15 rebs, 2 blk on 64% shooting. Seeing this really makes you think what would happen if he didn't get injured by having one leg longer than the other.
KD’s development didn’t surprise anyone, he might have out performed his expectations but people definitely saw his potentials. With that said, Oden was the consensus #1 on everyone’s board. He was that good!
Leading up to that draft people were saying Oden could be the next shaq the dude looked legit like the next great bigman. Those injuries are a real killer

Oden is just like Sam Bowie, big men taken before hall of fame player and got injured before they show potential. Most people will label Oden as the biggest bust but to me I give that to Anthony Bennett.

I watched that 2007 draft and I don't blame the Blazers for picking Oden. They didn't have a solid center and Brandon Roy was playing his mind out. Picking Kevin Durant didn't make sense because Roy and him would have to battle for minutes.
People don’t understand how crazy it was for Oden to cook both Horford and Noah in the national championship
Oden is one of the biggest what ifs in NBA history I truly believe he woulda been a dominant big or at least an above average starting center at the worst case scenario if he stayed healthy and continued to progress like really sad to think about
As a Portland native and fan, I'm actually glad to see most of the commenters supporting Oden as not being a bust. When he was on the court, he made a difference. Unfortunately, he didn't get to be on the court :(

You laugh, but that MFer was an absolute stud in high school. One of the greatest players in North Carolina high school basketball history, in fact. He started having bouts of depression after awhile, so he disappeared from the game entirely.

I made a joke about him on the Aliens being a bust... then I continued to back him up throughout the section. Also if someone labels a player a "bust" it could be for multiple reasons.

The Warriors won without kd, case and point 2014-15. The saga between the warriors and lebron would have been more entertaining without Durant. Durant should have joined Kawhi or Tatum. Or Miami with Butler. He's not gonna win another title with a teammate like Harden or Kyrie Irving. And if his injuries persist, his career will be cut short, but hopefully that doesn't happen, but his legacy has become a story of being unable to win a title without being on the warriors. Thus far

Calling Greg Oden a bust is like calling Robert Horry the most accomplished player since Bill Russell. Circumstances beyond their control contributed to much of what became of their careers.
