1. Firstly, thank you for taking the time to do this, much appreciated. 2. People are missing the REAL point of this debacle with Kramnik. The real take-away should be that online chess can never be a legitimate form of play, not for ratings, or for money. Chess big wigs are trying make chess more viable as a entertainment money maker. Chess players are unrealistically wanting to make big bucks. But this isn't pro ball. Nobody is going to make Michael Jordan money, except for 1 or 2 guys. This drive for big business taints chess. No one will ever really trust the system and they shouldn't. People will always cheat if it's not OTB. OTB is the ONLY legitimate form of chess.
I like the point about Magnus playing drunk and his friends shouting moves. That is technically cheating but everyone knows it gives Magnus no advantage and probably makes it more difficult for him to concentrate on the best moves. Or maybe there is a stockfish code hidden in the DJ's music 🤣

Kramnik is crying over Hikaru swearing towards him, and his response is to berate Danya? Things are not adding up. His arguments also lack substance and concrete logic. The only reasons I can surmise he is doing this are: 1) for attention, either for its own sake or for the money he can generate from it; 2) due to mental issues, such as jealousy, severe dislike, depression, or mania; or 3) because he has somehow been manipulated by the echo chamber of people who dislike Danya. Nonetheless, this is PATHETIC behavior for anyone, especially for someone who was a World Chess Champion.

I think Hikaru is right to call Kramnik names because. at the end of the day, everyone is innocent until proven guilty and no one put Kramnik in charge. But as he also pointed out in one of his last streams chess players have to be extremely careful, because most of them, even at the top level, make their living by playing chess and if they want to stay on the circuit they have to respect some political boundary. Hikaru can afford to act as he wants because he can retire and live other two lifes with the money he has made. But I believe also that Danya is too good of a person, for him is not a matter of "political boundaries" is just that he is not capable of insulting Kramnik even in such a circumstance. Kramnik can still afford to act as a bully just because of the credit he has, but this credit is going to finish soon, already even in the Russian world where he was idolized he's losing credibility.
Imo "innocent until proven guilty" is nonsense in a context where it is literally impossible to be proven guilty. Even Shevchenko has not been proven guilty, he just wanted to answer his phone at midnight in the bathroom, for unknown reasons.
@@grimlips6596 No, I disagree. It's not a matter of context. Even in ordinary justice you barely get caught with a smoking gun. On the contrary, you very often have to go to a trial, with different pieces of evidence, more or less clear. In the case of Shevchenko the evidence was crystal clear, but even there, there are organs proposed to judge him, and no one put Kramnik or anyone else in charge. Innocent until proven guilty does not mean that you have to be blind, or not allowed to have suspicions, but you have to leave to the proposed authority the job of judging and condemning the person. Starting a witch hunt like Kramink did is just stepping out of the boundary and making yourself judge, jury, and executor. And another factor to keep in mind is the more you are famous and respected the more you should act carefully on this matter. If I accused Hikaru or Danya of cheating nobody would have cared, but if Kramnik does it it has a different impact.
Greg, you made a very good recap. Accurate translation, adequate brevity, "каждое лыко в строку". Your English was great. The accent is OK, infinitely better than Kramnik's. LOL. Pls, don't take it as condescending or patronizing. You asked to opine honestly. Speaking of which, when you said you were going to give yours in the end I was skeptical and expected to hear (as it used to be in your interviews) being "nice" to both parties and avoid sharp angles. No. You did give a principled one in the end. Didn't know you had it in you; LOL.
Great point. If Kramnik has a problem with Hikaru, he should grow some balls and address it with Hikaru. But he won’t, because he doesn’t have the money to taunt Hikaru or the ability to beat him. The man is a disgrace.
I dont agree its a fair play violation. Thats being idiotic. people pretending it is have 1 iq or are scared to sat what they honestly think. Guy is a super gm playing a 1k player doing a videonto teach his viewers. The opponent was staling and he wanted to be efficient with his time. He wasnt even looking at the current position, he was looking at the opening.
It is strictly speaking a fair play violation but at the very low end. He did have an engine on. The sort of thing that should get you a warning, but nothing more.
For a speed run account, which is already technically against fair play rules (sandbagging), where points get refunded, I don't think it's reasonable to even say it's "technically cheating".
thanks for the summary, everybody should know by now Kramink has more than one screw loose, (eval bar drama) the interesting thing is people who believe him
So Kramnik has hurt feelings and decides to harass Danya for it. He has revealed exactly what many of us assumed. This has nothing to do with cheating and everything to do with Kramnik's brittle ego. Also, bring them on and make sure to ask Kramnik why Danya has to pay for Hikaru's comments.
Thank you for the recap. The only one thing I disagree with is that using "ты" toward a person who is 20 years younger is not a form of disrespect, but rather expected.
I'm sure, whoever is the first person to either audible translate the debate the video or provide English captions, that video would get allot of views. I know a couple folks translated it in real time, now the video is there and a translation would be awesome.

For any civilized person, Danya is clearly on the right here. Maybe he's too genuine and too kind, when he was trying to compose constructive arguments, but the two gentlemen understand only shouting, and only talk over him with nonsense.
Many in the comments said, that Danya should just stop any debate with Kramnik and move on. That's why i don't support another discussion in english. It would hurt Danya again . Kramnik on the other side will never stop "asking questions" . His behavior is like the german saying "Once the reputation is ruined, you can live completely uninhibited."
Ist der Ruf erst ruiniert, lebt's sich völlig ungeniert. :)
Kramnik is a hero for anti-cheating the same way that Henry VIII was a trailblazer for divorce law. I can't believe some are still defending him. *(edited for number mixup)

Hahaha jesus that’s a really beautifully crafted comment amazing haha
@@ronniemacdonald2768 oops thank you - edited! brain still booting, early etc. (relatively)
Funniest thing I’ve read in a while
I feel very sad for Danya. I honestly don’t want any more debates because I worry that it just gives more attention to Kramnik’s BS. This is very unjust.
Kramnik whining about Nakamura saying bad things about him is just incredible. Kramnik accused Nakamura of cheating, and now he's surprised Nakamura is no longer showing him respect???
Dude is a delusional moron
This is a lie, Kramnik said that crazy winning streaks are suspicious. There is nothing criminal in such an assumption, but Hikaru's aggressive and insane statements are disgusting
@@TheInfinity2012Cut the bullshit. You don't call someone's records in a game suspicious if you aren't accusing them of cheating. It's a pathetic attempt at plausible deniability and anyone who defends it is either an idiot or is maliciously lying themselves.
And sorry, but that isn't an assumption. That's an assertion. You are asserting that "crazy" winning streaks are "suspicious". And patently false, as anyone who actually has knowledge of Statistics will tell you.
@@TheInfinity2012 omg he literally said HIkaru was cheating just like how he denied he said Danya was cheating but Danya showed his clip literally saying he was a cheater. Stop lying like Kramnik.
@@TheInfinity2012Okay, Kramnik
Kramnik is not even fun anymore. All this "just asking questions", and constantly shifting the goalpost, is straight out of the playbook of every conspiracy theorist trying to steer up some drama. Just stop it, Kramnik!
just ignore him, everybody. this bullying is largely fueled with feedback by people trying to respond in good faith to his empty accusations.
Watched your podcast and got glued to it.
Your verdict to this video was perfect.
Your articulation and commentating is very good.
Keep it up.
Thanks!
I no longer want to hear what Kramnik has to say. He was a brilliant chess player. Now his main job description appears to be Asshole.
You can’t bomb an entire city and expect to get credit for killing a thief.
I’m done with his bullshit.
And who you are?
An ethics complaint should be filed against Kramnik with FIDE.
That was a masterful breakdown of the whole debacle, Mustreader. I don't think you missed a single detail!
Grand Inquisitor Kramnik needs to be stopped. This is ridiculous.
There's a great episode in South Park where Cartman is being school journalist and is constantly "asking questions" about school president Wendy. Vladimir is acting exactly as Cartman now.
'I'm not giving Eric Fartman one minute of my time, you got that?! I'm not acknowledging his stupid questions.'
Your opinion at the end is spot on... I agree exactly with it. 👍🏼
Excellent video thank you for uploading, we need this same kind of video for every other 1 hour Kramnik ramble even when they are in English 🤣
Epic Chess! Fancy seeing your camel toe over here.
"Maybe accused maybe not accused"
Lmao
Magnus and Chesscom coudnt held accusing Nimann, what do you want from Kramnik?! Of course there is no 100% evidence until person is getting caught red-handed.
Unintelligent people are amused by the trivialest remarks.
@@БрокколиМэнLook, if you're going to make equivalencies, at least make them not stupid.
While what Carlsen did is stupid and wrong, he actually has the fact that Niemann has professed to cheating competitively. You can say that's not OTB, but Hans atleast had shown that he has zero qualms about cheating in competitive play. Still, Magnus has zero evidence he actually had cheated in that game, and he obviously was throwing a tantrum because he lost.
Danya has no such record at all. They are not the same, so for God's sake, stop invoking it everytime this comes up as a whataboutism.
@@antiksur8883 It doesnt matter!
Nimann and Danya are similar cases in a way of law. You have no 100% evidences, you can not win in the court - you dont accuse directly. So simple.
I bet you and many other people would shout loudly: "Sue him $100 mln, Danya!" if Kramnik had done smth similar to Carlsen/Chesscom situation. Kramnik is not a stupid man.
@@БрокколиМэнYeah, that's called being unethical and disingenous. You're really defending people making veiled accusations without concrete proof? Maybe the fact that it doesn't work in court should tell a person they are not on the right path?
Thank you for covering the debate. I was waiting for someone to recap/translate it into English.
I appreciate you 1000 more now for the way you said Kramnik is cyber bullying.
Mind you, though, what he did to Naroditsky and even Hikaru is actually far far better than what he did to Tykhon Cherniev and Faustino Oro. That was far far worse.
To damage the reputation, of kids, who haven't even started their careers and don't have the money and knowhow to defend themselves, is beyong illegal and imoral.
You can't measure the potential damage it might inflict on their lives. For all you know you took the next world champion and caused everyone to doubt them which may steer them in other directions if not actually ruining their lives or at least its full potential.
Faustino alredy beat Hikaru several times in a row while being 10 years old.
Tykhon beat Kramnik, Grischuk and others when he was 12.
We're talking serious talent.
Consider that in your lawsuit.
I understand people from the US can't sue people in Russia but certainly both chesscom as well as FIDE can and should intervene.
Certainly, FIDE should, IMO, sanction the man-child, Kramnik.
In most sports, those affiliated with the governing body (all FIDE-ranked chess players), can be sanctioned for bringing their given sport into disrepute by their actions. I believe the man-child fits this criterion.
It is also time prominent actors in this sphere become more vocal in their condemnation of this man-child.
No more fence sitting or hiding.
Thanks for translating the debate!
Thank you very much for the recap and translation. I really hope you can host round 2.
That Kramnik is using the educational speedrun episode as ammunition and calls for a ban shows what a clown he is.
yeah the guy using an ezngine against players with 1/4 of his rating is not the clown of course
@@MrPolisse Tell me you haven’t seen the video without telling me you haven’t seen it
@@Ethan-fh9lq i saw a guy using an engine for a speedrun vs 1000 rated players.... it's like usain bolt dopping vs a random guy and say yeah i dopped so i can show you how we can do it with training. wtf is this normal ? and for the record i don't thing danya is a cheater in general but it is so easy to prove. just put a second cam for a week or a month and show that you plau on the same lvl. or just cry about the situation

He opened the engine at the end of the game, to analyze the beginning of said game when he was a queen and a piece up @MrPolisse
Bad take
Whatever Kramnik did seems like the discovery of a pattern. Danya just stepped into a mine field which unfortunately, spells doom for Danya.
I like the point about Magnus playing drunk and his friends shouting moves. That is technically cheating but everyone knows it gives Magnus no advantage and probably makes it more difficult for him to concentrate on the best moves.
Or maybe there is a stockfish code hidden in the DJ's music 🤣
Спасибо тебе огромное. И за проделанную работу, и за хороший, богатый английский, и за понятный российский акцент, который делает английский понятнее для русскоязычных))
Thank you Greg - I like your judgement and character - subscribed!
Danya still holding out hope, thinking conversation with Kramnik while he talks AT you is anything but grand master debating.
Kramnik is a disgrace to chess and should be condemned by everyone
Dude, I be condemning. =]
why
you sound like a cartoon bad guys disparaging good guys
Do you condemn I5.r.4.e.l for committing g3noc1de against P4l3st1nians?
Kramnik is crying over Hikaru swearing towards him, and his response is to berate Danya? Things are not adding up. His arguments also lack substance and concrete logic. The only reasons I can surmise he is doing this are: 1) for attention, either for its own sake or for the money he can generate from it; 2) due to mental issues, such as jealousy, severe dislike, depression, or mania; or 3) because he has somehow been manipulated by the echo chamber of people who dislike Danya. Nonetheless, this is PATHETIC behavior for anyone, especially for someone who was a World Chess Champion.
I appreciate your clear separation between neutrally reporting what happened and presenting your own opinion. If just more people did that...
Mustreader set up a blitz match between these two. It would be epic. Love your channel. Keep up the great work
It's weird to see how old, respectful chessplayer acts like a kid. Hit somebody and start crying after the response. I hope he will calm down
Thanks for the summary! Danya swearing in Russian wtf was happening lol
Thanks for including the original stream in the description 🙏

Thanks for this nice recap.
Wishing you all the success brother. I love your approach to the game.

“I pity people who don’t know Russian sweat words, they’re awesome.” Simply incredible
Thank you for doing this video. You explained it very well. I tried to watch Dina’s live stream but it was sooo long so this was a great breakdown. Also, it is great to hear you standing up for Danya even though you respect for Kramnik
Daniel Naroditsky deserves better. Vladimir Kramnik should take a break from online chess.
I'm glad you said that. As chess players and people who live in this world, players like Kramnik should be condemned. This is not the first time he presents facts, then presents them as questions after having no proof. These are people and their livelihood depends on it, you can't go over it in silence
Amazing summary, Greg. As an English speaker who’s interested in this subject, I really appreciated this video. Keep up the great videos, man. Love what you do.
It’s not a truthful summary or translation, sadly
@ How so?
@@nathanbell2601 he didn’t translate honestly what happened. I speak both languages and I can attest to that. Watch the video Kramnik uploaded to his channel today.
thank you very much, really enlightening. spassiba
He shouldve called out the toilet cheating before anticheat was at decent level. "No wonder why you dropped, cant go to toilet and find moves on the highest level anymore" :D
Nice summary. I'm glad that you clearly state your opinion, which is shared by me and most of the reasonable people. Mr. Kramnik has became a compulsive conspirer and bully.
Thank you, Mustreader, for posting this. Danya's thorough knowledge of the witch trials should make it clear to him that arguing rationally with an insane deluded punisher can never succeed. There is no hand-shake; there is no compromise; there is no reasoning with a witch trial. Danya's moral purity is admirable, but Danya can not convince the whole world that he is in the right, even though he is, 100%. Move on. Stop offering to answer the insane inquisitor. No one is putting him in Puritan jail, and no one is throwing him in the pond to see if he will float or sink. Unlike the witches, Danya can continue to live an admirable life. Shake this dirt off your feet and move on, Danya.
Hi, I'm Kramnik lawyer. Since you're not supporting my client fully, I have been authorized to start the procedure against your channel. We'll see you in the UA-cam courts!!
I like that russian phrase "either put your panties on or take your crucifix off".
my take away from this video: 1) im very happy i found this channel, 2) i found out that the Russian Language is very rich and i’ll look forward to learning it 3) Kramnik is bored suffering from mental decline and im very happy i didn’t buy his course 4) Danny is a world class GM totally respect him and would love to assure him that that will never affect his image his channel is very instructive and we will ever be grateful
Nothing happened, the right corner of the room still wasn’t shown. Danya was reluctant to move that web camera to the right of the monitor’s edge.
I came here after watching Hikaru's commentary on your video. You provided a great analysis and I really appreciated it. I'm subbing.

Wow so instead of taking it out on Hikaru he is venting it out on Dayna. That is so petty bullying.
Great point. If Kramnik has a problem with Hikaru, he should grow some balls and address it with Hikaru. But he won’t, because he doesn’t have the money to taunt Hikaru or the ability to beat him. The man is a disgrace.

Thanks for this and in particular the summary of the speedrun, which I hadn't grasped
I don't remember Naka saying anything bad about Kramnik before Kramnik accused Naka of cheating.
To compare this with playing actual rated games on a different account is just insane. The most Soviet thing Kramnik has ever done IMO.
Danya is very nice guy, but he's not super GM.
@@dworkinbarhe is in blitz (2707)
It is strictly speaking a fair play violation but at the very low end. He did have an engine on. The sort of thing that should get you a warning, but nothing more.
For a speed run account, which is already technically against fair play rules (sandbagging), where points get refunded, I don't think it's reasonable to even say it's "technically cheating".
Would LOVE for you to host an english speaking debate. I am new to your channel and think your interview with Danya was fantastic.

Kramnik became the disease for all online chess players
So Kramnik has hurt feelings and decides to harass Danya for it. He has revealed exactly what many of us assumed. This has nothing to do with cheating and everything to do with Kramnik's brittle ego.
Also, bring them on and make sure to ask Kramnik why Danya has to pay for Hikaru's comments.
