I hope we get to play as both the landlord and the tenant. While the concept is certainly interesting, I would definitely not want to have to be in charge of an entire building of tenants every time I wanted to play with the pack.

You can be a tenant if you wish to be. You can be a property owner and live amongst the tenants, a property owner and live somewhere else. Or just a tenant if you so wish.
Since 2 of the 4 new aspirations focus around that, with one of them being a property owner and the other being a good tenant, since there’s a new fear of getting evicted.
Also 5 new traits as well. Generous, Cringe, Child of the village, Nosy and the elder exclusive trait: Wise

@@Sadie-hf6ue this pack feels like what city living would be like if it was made in 2023. And true you can. In this one you can get evicted and snoop and break into neighbours places. This pack kinda makes city living feel redundant though… nothing really going for it now except the city world and karaoke.. since apartments have been added to other packs. And so have festivals

I was thinking the exact same thing. Instead of updating City Living to have these features they are making us buy a whole new expansion pack? And what about Eco Life that also has apartments? They should update those to have these features for free

Just realised that I can finally put all of my households in one lot and I'm so excited since I'm always switching between family households in the 'edit world'. Hopefully this pack allows for more households on one lot.
I know, right?! I've always wanted to make villages! And I've tried, but with this pack, it will be much easier and I can have more people.

There has to be a reason they keep bringing up the whole “how is Johnny Zest related to the Landgraab family?” thing lately.. a family tree rehaul is one of the most requested things I’ve seen over the years in sims groups etc, so it would make sense to make it make sense 😅😂🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻
The dream is a photo album/memory documentation/scrapbook so you could make sense of the Sim's history. Not holding my breath.

Whoever directed this trailer really captured the charm and magic of some of the older sims games trailers. I'm already way too jaded on this franchise, but this trailer tempted me I can't lie
As a Thai, this pack bring me a lot of joy. Even the song in the trailer also translate from Thai. All the culture , food , build mode look so nice. I cant wait 🥹

As a Malaysian I’m so happy that our South East Asian culture is finally represented in the Sims. That “kampung” house on slits brought me joy! Can’t wait to discover the SEA inspired build/buy items and food! This feels like home coming to a lot of us south east asians 🥹

It'll be really cool if you could make a building that's like shops on the bottom floor and a house on the top floor, and you get to buy the first and second floor of it so you also get a shop when you get the apartment. Kinda like in Open For Business.
I'm not sure if you're a pc player but if you are, there's a mod that will let you have a functional cafe or store on your home lot so you can do exactly that. There's Salabration
@@sabrinadawn5280 Instead of a pack, it would be great if they just let you have multiple lot types on one lot. Other examples where I could see it being regularly used include an apartment which is small enough to get the Tiny Home Perks, or The haunted house lot type, or Mixed buildings like a Bowling alley that is also a restaurant and bar.

@@cheetopuff99_ I have a 13 inch macbook pro. I use it for gaming, school, work, illustration and 3d modeling projects, which all demand a lot of storage/utility. No problems so far, lol.
Only drawback is that the majority of games don't have a mac version so it's a little limiting in that sense

I have so many of these lots, that are not fun as they all just use the same space. It doesn't feel real. This will make all of those lots with many small houses, or town houses feel real, not to mention an apartment building. I have one that is not fun to play with as of now. This updates all of that.

The sims 2 apartment life was one of the best expansion packs back in the day so if this pack is similar it's gonna be amazing this is long over due
Yeah, but it wasn't perfect eather. There was and still having problem with it. I don't think they would be capable to realise this pack perfectly without any bugs in the first try. And there was not any gameplay showed it. That's a really bad sigh.

The Sims 2 was serve after serve. Despite its brilliant, TS3 didn't quite manage to meet the standards set by TS2. TS4? Don't expect anything! Jokes will be on you.

Knowing EA, I highly doubt it especially since it’d be a large feature that definitely would’ve been shown in this video. Plus, shops/retail spaces overlaps with get to work

Honestly, one of the best sims 4 remixes/simlish songs ever. Certified bop.
With the more recent packs they seem like add-ons to other packs rather than it's own thing(eg Horse Ranch was meant to be with Cottage Living and Growing Together and Parenthood was also meant to be together) and this one seems like an add-on to City Living.
Edit:. When I say 'than its own thing' I mean EA had given us something like that before and it is much better quality(for a Sims 4 pack) and the cost is actually alright (as long it's on sale) and it just seems like they are getting lazy with their ideas and are reusing ones from older packs

No the only thing in common is landlords/apartments. This is shared space, the other has separate apartments available by a loading screen. Not the same. And just because Horses are animals doesn't mean they should have been added to the English Country side pack.
I hope they add the ability to also decided whether pets are allowed or not in the rentals. That would be cool. Like deciding if only small dogs, or only cats. Or no pets at all.

You’ve always been able to build your own apartments and townhouses. I’ve built a couple and had the doors set up where only certain people can go through so it’s like individual units

i know this is mostly based on thailand, but as a SEAsian and a malay, i related to so many of the stuffs here especially the vibes of the kampung style houses and the marble games, and many more. representation is so important because i never expected to have SEA being apart of a pack, this is so so rare to see for me
We don't often see South East Asia represented in American media, but it's so exciting to finally see it in the Sims! It's not only sentimentally important to me (as my husband is Lao and I live with his mother, her Thai husband, his adult children, and a couple of other Thais) but the aesthetics of these countries' cultures and traditions are so beautiful - it's a lot of fun and it makes me happy to see them in a game! A lot of people who go to South East Asia really fall in love with the countries there. Their eyes light up and they get excited talking about it. In fact, my childhood friends (in Australia) went to Malaysia on a holiday over 20 years ago and never came back!

Omg! there’s a lot of Southeast Asian stuffs. I saw things from Thailand, Vietnam, Malay Singapore etc. i thought we might only get a Thai Inspired world but this is a good southeast Asian representation. As a Singaporean I’m specifically happy to see the shophouses & the Singapore bumboat at 0:18 !! Definitely getting this expansion.
I really want more Japanese decor for one of my families, so they can have color-coded kimono for the women and yukata for the men.

I swear I can't understand you guys. Everyone always hates on TS4 implying the game is bad/sucks at gameplay mechanics but when there's a new update or expansion packs suddenly all the hate disappear for a moment and comes back after 2-3 months. It's funny as hell

As a thai people, i'm surprised about this. I never thought I'd see many Southeast asian things happen in the sim 😂 i recognize many things that relate with thai cultures, ex., like the spirit house (ศาลพระภูมิ) it's really weird yet exciting lol 😆 and you know? There's many things here we've had before - noisy neighbors and exotic foods from City Living and we have rental lots in Snowy Escape. Why couldn't they have been expanded upon in a pack revamp? I understand many players were looking to build/manage hotels too. I am kinda sceptical over the trailer's lack of content although I do appreciate South-east Asia getting recognised in-game.
Those rental lots are for vacations, this is you being able to buy all property in the game, but still doesn't feel like an EP, more like a GP
@@sandroribeiro7644 I get that rental lots are for vacations, but the whole idea about renting should be one expansion alone, not City Living, Snowy Escape and For Rent. All EPs feel like GPs. The last EP, Horse Ranch literally just came with horses, goats and nectar making.

OMG! As someone who has lived with Thais, Laotians, and Cambodians for over a third of my life (in Australia), with a husband who is Lao, and have participated in a lot of cultural things with them (like going to the temple, celebrating holidays, etc) I am so happy to see South East Asia represented! This is really exciting!

the trend nowadays is to upsell expansion packs with hardly a game pack's worth of gameplay, by padding it with cas, build items and a new world. look at horse ranch, it's abysmal.

I hope we get a base game update so we can build multi family lots in all of the worlds! Other than that, I'll definitely buy this EP. It is so amazing. There is a lot of gameplay features and the B&B looks amazing as well.
it's a new lot type so I'm pretty sure if you buy the pack you'll be able to build multi family lots in any world but it won't be a basegame update since that is the main feature of this pack

The real star of this video is the language coach.
That would be Jackie Perez Gratz who translates all the songs into Simlish and advises the artists on the Simlish performances. Robi Kauker too. Pretty much that is one of the jobs of the Maxis Audio Department...which is easily and consistently the BEST department in The Sims. ^_~

I have been waiting for apartments for a long time (I tried to build several but they were not functional, of course) I love that there is hopscotch for the children and that we can have fights with the neighbors, that things break, that it is truly a community life! I love this pack, thank you very much for including it in the game ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Very cool! I hope they do a West or East African pack next! I’ve never seen anything that represents African culture, dress, landscape, or food in the Sims. So I’m excited to see where the direction of this pack and future ones go!

...this should have just been stuff added to city living. they should have just done a pack refresh and added these features to that and made these new cas and build mode items available in a stuff pack or kit. this location looks nice and all but i'd have been happy just being able to have apartments i could build myself in the locations we already have...

That was my first thought when I saw the apartments. I wonder if there will be an update for a revamp of city living. Too bad they won't/can't open up new building lots in San Myshuno.

city living and for rent will need to work well together as well as work independently from each other.

townhouses are confirmed aswell. you can live in them w neighbors or you could own/run it and live on your own lot somewhere else

This should have been part of the City Living expansion pack. That makes a lot more sense because that’s where the roots of apartment living lie. I can see Asian/Japanese fragments being included in this new pack, but couldn't you just sell an Asian Living Pack? If you would understand my way of thinking.
Custom apartments and more cultural representation were at the top of my wishlist, so I’m very pleased 🥰 Now we just need a hotels pack and I can die happy.

Im Thai and im so happy with all the details!!! I mean from the toilet to the buildings and the food looks amazing! Even the layers in the music sound so accurate

It actually looks good and interesting to me. There's potential for players of all types to benefit and enjoy it since it makes all of our smaller worlds more viable. I'll probably have to change my current apartments to include a basement or somewhere for that boiler to fit, but that's an easy fix. Here's to hoping it works well and has little to no game breaking bugs (idc about minor ones at this point).

this trailer flashed me, but to be honest its some kinde of upcycling city living. Many features are similar to one of city living. And also the foodcourt seems like the spicefestival in city living.
New features are just the option to rent houses to build the appartement to be a housebreaker, and a new (i guess way to small) world.
I’m actually quite excited for this! I’m upset this wasn’t in City Living, but the focus on SEA life makes it up for me
Hopefully this expands the household size 🤞🏻
I believe this is unrelated to the household. I think its a way to rent and interact with other households paying you to live somewhere.

The world/theme looks amazing, but I just really feel like the rental aspect shouldve been part of City Living or something. Theres a lot to this expansion (it looks like) that doesnt have much to do with renting property compared to just adding to the asian culture. Which again, I love the added decor theme, world, new kids activities, recipes…it all looks good. But all Im really getting from the “For Rent” is that I can own a building, rent it out, and fix/manage neighbors.
I really wish this was more of a resort/hotel management expansion compared to apartments, since we basically got those in a different expansion.
Im also predicting quite a few bugs, so hopefully Im wrong about that. Taking away the context of other content we already have, this seems like a decent pack. Im really just happy that we’re getting 3 expansions in one year
