I remember our house hunt that year (when we wanted to vacate our first place). We spent 3 straight months and half, inspecting houses every single weekend and still did not get approved for one. It was demoralising😔😔. We took a break and came back a year later and I attacked it like it was a job interview hahaha. I wrote a personal statement, wore extra nice clothes, wrote a letter addressed to the landlord on top of everything else...just to get a house o😂😂
Hello Abisola, thanks a lot for taking your time and sharing your experience for others to learn from you. It’s very good information. I will moving to Australia this month and am sure the information you shared will been helpful.
Thanks for the showing African immigrant’s perspective. Do the references need to be in Australia? As new immigrants we don’t know anyone in Melbourne. Can we use friends and family back home?
The references have to be in Australia. If you're Christian and you go to church, you can ask your Pastor or a member of the church... or your employer if you're already working
Thank you Abisola for the information. Are you in Melbourne. Am a new migrant who is currently going through a lot of difficulties trying to get rental accommodation.
Hi Abisola, I find your videos quite interesting...I plan on migrating to Australia I get the heads up of how the country is from you which is of great help
Hi Tessy, I'm quite sure I touched on these in the video. Join communities e.g Church. You'll meet people who will guide you ; be willing to be references. There's several options for accommodation based on what you can afford. You'll need to do some research. I attached some helpful links in my description box. All the best

Thanks for this informative content. Do encourage a new migrant who has a child to go for a furnished apartment option?
I don't see why not. If it's within your budget and child friendly. 🥰
What if you come in not knowing anyone or having any friends, how do you get accommodation immediately you come in and how do you get references.
