J-stars perfectly encapsulates that a game doesn't have to be "good" to be fun. I've had so many fun memories with this game, playing it with friends, learning about all the wacky shonen characters I didn't know about, playing online. It was simply put, a "Fun" game!!

@@Sagekcm6262I would love to see another attempt at Jump Force, fix the battle system a bit, turn down the “realism” and I think it could be great. The roster was dope and the idea was there, but otherwise it did lack a lot

Agreed JStars was a really fun game.
J-Stars Victory Vs is the perfect example of not being rushed.
They interact of the characters is so hardcore.
I really hope J-Stars Victory Vs 2 if that happens.
Keep in mind that if they do a J star 2 I would want Bandai to use the 3D animation they did with the Opening Scene of J Stars Victory Vs that would be extremely Awesome to see.

Fun fact Jotaro and Dio from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure and Dai from from Dragon Quest Dai were planned to be appear as playable characters in the game along with Yoh from Shaman King who was gonna be a support character only as they were all datamind in the game's files but I think it's in the Japanese version only, also an incomplete moveset for Jotaro was actually found

4:43 The moniker of “big three” refers to a time in Shonen Jump in the early 2000s where One Piece, Bleach, and Naruto were the top three biggest manga in Jump. Dragon ball is from the 90s and doesn’t constitute as being one of the big three. Among many other things Dragon Ball has accomplished it has heavily inspired all the aforementioned manga and anime

@@lebrondavis1420 There is a reason for it, because there are lot of people who hate Dragon Ball because of how it ruined the variety of anime types that were brought over to the United States.
I'm usually harsh on these type of games but i think J-stars was just built in mind while playing with a friend, i thought it was a whole lot of fun in that aspect even with the somewhat clunky gameplay. It's one of those chaotic and hella unbalanced games where it's genuinely frustrating to play alone but a blast when you're just kicking it with someone especially with that kind of diverse roster and upbeat energy the game has.
I don't really get that feeling from something like Jump force.

I love that in this game everyone can say each others name. Jump Force could not relate.

Combos were fire in this game you just had to be patient and learn what chained together
You get it for sure this game is S-tier
But the good things about the jstar is the character moveset though. They literally have all of their ability unlike jump force who set the moveset for you

I had a lot of fun with friends on jstars. The 2v2 aspect was cool, and I loved how I could play as some of my favorite niche characters like Gintoki, Tsuna and Medaka.
J-Stars felt like a celebration of the Jump’s entire history and helped introduce me to series I hadn’t heard of at the time like Haikyu. It also made me want to watch some anime that I was familiar with but hadn’t watched yet like Gintama and Rurouni Kenshin.
Even if the gameplay isn’t the deepest it’s a fun time and a great way of advertising both obscure and popular series.
Idk what it was but I looked this game up during the time before it's release and was excited. At the time, there was NO announcement on an American release. However, this game got me back into Anime. As a child I watched Toonami HARD! but after 02-03 I took a break on Anime. Whatever would come on Adult Swim at night I'd have it on but barely watched it. This game made me want to get back into Anime so I became a JOJO and Gintama LOVER. This game was MID AF but I still give it's credit to getting me back into Anime!
J Stars is the reason I checked out Katekyo Hitman Reborn!, Rurouni Kenshin and JoJos.
had a lot of fun with this despite it's issues. And I greatly appreciated the unique dialogue between so many unique characters. I loved filling all of those out

okay, I have watched 2 of your videos now and it seems you have some misconceptions on what the "big 3" is. please do some research if anything to save yourself hate in the future. the big 3 does NOT include dragon ball. its one piece, naruto, and bleach. you also said the "big 4" in your jump force video which is not a thing. I think people will find it harder to respect your opinion when you seemingly dont know enough about the topic youre talking about. (not saying you dont im saying how it may come across). overall im a fan of your content though just wanted to ig give some advice if you want to make content based on anime in the future.
I appreciate the feedback. I know the big 3 doesn't include Dragon Ball, but the reason I've been considering the big 3 as Dragon Ball, One Piece, and Naruto is because that's how Bandai Namco treats the big 3 as those are the 3 series most represented in their crossover games. That's why I said big 4 in the Jump Force video because those were the 4 series with the most representation in game. But I can definitely see your point, so I'll use different terms in the future and specify that I mean the most represented series not the actual big 3. Thanks for the comment.

@@FlameHunter Might be fair if you were talking about a game from the time of jump force or later but in j-stars the main 3 in advertising are Dragonball, one piece and toriko so those would be the big 3 for this game. Except not even since goku and toriko share a story mode while ichigo gets his own. So luffy, naruto and ichigo get their own story while goku and toriko have to share. So in this particular game it't not so cut and dry.

@FlameHunter Bandai Namco doesn't have the rights to make Bleach games, if they did they probably would have pimped it out as much as they do One Piece & Naruto.
Just wanted to add, that the card system of the game gives you specific quirks to your gameplay, so you can use a combination of cards that can make you have a better control of your character while you’re dashing, make your character invulnerable to stun combos, make your Victory bar fills faster and even make your stamina bar fills while you’re using normals in your combos. The game is actually more complex than it looks gameplay wise.

The Card system was **broken.**
Madara could gain energy and do *huge* damage with a simple holding of Circle [Flame Breath].
Plus, SSJ Vegeta's Final Flash felt lore-accurate in that game. 🤩
Lots of the ultimates felt lore accurate in this game, so it's good

I just spent the past few weeks playing J-Stars Victory Vs, and I had a hell of a lot of fun with it... and oddly enough I'm curious as to why everything in Jump Force was such a step backward from it
I think it’s fun. Not the best, but fun. Kinda like an anime where the story is all over the place, but you enjoy the character interactions and the spectacle of the fights.
I personally didn’t mind the map size. Kinda felt like a Battlefield map with the destructible environments and everything. Yes, it could’ve used a 1v1 mode. But it’s still pretty unique in a way.
My major complaint is with how you trigger the ultimate moves. Basically whoever gets the most smacks on the opposing team gets to activate the auto win button. Maybe it should’ve been activated by the losing team, but with different moves. Think something like the rage art system from Tekken 7, or the plus ultra system from the MHA battle royale.
The way combat works is kinda similar to the Gundam VS series. I gotta imagine it was based on it. Though in Gundam it's not 3 KOs and you lose, the Gundams have different point values and when they're destroyed that value is subtracted from the Team Points.
Gundam Extreme Vs. Maxi Boost ON is on PS4 if you're interested in that.
I enjoyed J Stars Victory for what it was. I wish Namco had built on this and improved on it, instead of starting with something new like Jump Force.
Hopefully the next crossover will be closer to this but with a manga design for characters. And a more fleshed out single player story.

Yeah. I agree with your points. Although, in spite of the issues, I still had some fun with it. It also helped in introducing me to other series like Saint Seiya, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and others.
2:00 Just speculation here but I believe the realistic hybrid artstyle comes from the fact that they built J-Stars on the same engine as Dragon Ball Zenkai Battle Royale (a Japanese only arcade game). If you look at Goku, Vegeta and Freeza's models, they're imported straight from that game. They probably wanted to go for the same semi-realistic artstyle Zenkai Battle Royale had then saw that the PS3 architecture couldn't fully handle that.
while i'd love to see another jump ultimate stars style game with more series/modes i loved j-stars as a very fun anniversary title as i loved we actually got a jump crossover over here and would recommend it alongside both jump stars games(would definitely say play it over battle stadium d.o.n as it just has way better series to pair one piece/dragonball with.).
this was a ps3 game so no duh it looks like that,while compared to ultimate stars a downgrade find the gameplay fun showing the characters variety as not every fighter needs to be deep(even smash bros. is more of a party game than a full fighter.).
absolutely love the roster of this game as while i feel some characters(taro) could've been cut or switched out(like any of the strawhats over akainu or rock lee/gaara/kakashi/even tsunade over madara) it has way better variety than jump force overusing the big 3 even if i wish the support characters were playable such as rukia,lala,chitoge,heihachi and kagura.
my problem would be the arcade mode being pointless(really could've added endings or be like that jump road mode being you going through the series worlds getting to the end boss.) and the story in that i do wish it had a final story tying it all(like making dr. masharito the mysterious voice behind the dark phantoms as it's implied in nube's part they were released from a shrine.),some characters interacted more as some like vegeta could've been cut,made me wish some were playable like nami in luffy's story/the cut characters like jotaro and dio or had better combinations as the toriko story was boring/ichigo should've had someone else like,medaka as a partner instead of hie whose one note ass here.
do love the story mode(would take animated portraits that replicate the style to tell the story over the extremely fugly lifeless lazy standing models of jump force as it still worked/would say just ask for a shonen jump crossover ova at that point as the graphics aren't that outdated compared to some of capcom's fighters.) getting to interact with other characters as i loved the unique interactions like naruto(like him here compared to his own series.)/gon/yusuke,ryotsu befriending killua/rukia,medaka's moments,lala,chitoge,luffy's story,nube saving the phantom possessed fighters,several of the jump heroes being examiners being playable guest for a while like & especially boa hancock making gintoki into a human shield/beating up kagura when she insults her/making luckyman pamper her alongside all the references in the world map some of which i wish were actual stages though do find the interactivity bigger than the stars games with the sidequest and exploration for new characters/cards being a nice collectible.

I don't think this game is as bad as you say it is personally the only gripes I have with it is forcing the 2v2 aspect and how split screen really cuts down the screen size for no apparent reason but aside from that I think it's really fun I love that they decided to focus more on making every character unique instead of trying to balance the game sure if you are looking to play with a competitive mindset I think the game is gonna be terrible to you but if you play it just to have fun with all the unique character mechanics and interactions than it's a really fun time and personally I prefer giant maps with obstacles in it rather than small flat boring maps that all play exactly the same just with a different coat of paint, is it the best fighting game ever? No absolutely not but I would say it is one of the most fun fighting games I have ever played

I played J-Stars Victory VS+ on the PS4 in 2022. And i then tried to record gameplay again, only to realise again, that it was without the audio.
Other hardware needed, possibly.

I probably had one of the best experiences with the game I had a friend who would always get on it and we would play online or just 1v1 by baiting the bots to fight still better then jump force imo

Okay i will be Honest Overall J Stars Gameplay is base on Team Fights plus the Characters like each of the Characters are unique in gameplay which represents each of their Anime Series, Jump Force in the other hand, Gameplay is Fast Phase 1 vs 1 And Everyone can move Extremely Fast and they can literally Teleport like they are some Dragon Ball like Character i don't see any uniqueness to their gameplay compared to J Star and you People say J Star is shit they just don't understand how characters are represented in each of their own Anime. Also I agree with you if they stick in the Opening J Star Animation for the 3D animation of the Game it would be extremely Awesome.

The thing is the open world arena concept could’ve been so amazing. Imagine like free for all, team modes and one on ones, that would’ve been INSANE. The gameplay also could’ve been better because all it is is just button mashing and it could’ve been so much better if Bandai cared more for it. J stars was a game with a ton of potential but fell flat in the end, I do still enjoy the game because even though it’s bad it’s fun to kill some boredom just button mashing in arcade mode which is what I do every now and then.
P.S J stars is what got me into assassination classroom, fist of the North Star, and gintama because when I originally got the game I was really young and only knew the big ones being dragonball, Naruto, one piece and bleach.

Must be fun to compain about a game made for the ps3. Not only that it was made for the ps3 it was the last game to have a cross over really because when they made Jump Force they mde it worst then a ps3 game. How can you make it worst then a game for the ps3. So judging a game when you don't even make them yourself is pretty stupid. Anyone can claim a game to have bad things in it but really it is a game and will never be perfect at all. You thinking it should have style that you liked in the intro is dumb. No one looked at the intro and said the same thing. This is why saying things that you have as a opinion in videos make no sense. It's like if i made videos on your videos and pointing out things. It would be stupid of me to even do that but i could. Why play a game just to bash it for the bad parts of it that you didn't find to your liking. A game isn't made just for you. If you are going to do reviews or anything of a game you have to view it how others might view it as well. You also have to take into account that no game is perfect and all games have flaws so it's easy to point out that first before making a list like some fake santa.
I'd definitely call Bleach part of the Big 3, at least when this game was released. Dragon ball was dead in the water for a long time.
