Instead of the fader, for peak controller. Eq2 on the bass and connect the number 1 to controller. Sidechain Keyword Great work gentlemen. Y’all have a happy new year May The Force Be With You!
Instead of the channel fader, add a Fruity Balance and control the volume with that, so your channel fader keeps its freedom. I use Trackspacer for my sidechain and masking needs, the same way you use Fruity Limiter because its mostly less knobs to tweak AND you can apply it to specific frequency ranges but those are great ways to go about it within FL 😊
One of the best skills and tools I ever learned to use was how to sidechain💯! My mixes opened up sooo much once I did. I really believe that all producers should add this to their toolbox, or at least have an idea of its benefits.
Peak Controller: You don't have to invert the link to controller. 1. Put the Base at 50%. (centre top) 2.Control the volume on the left side, the negative digits from 0% (centre top). So put the volume at 0%. 3. Tension basically increases how much ducking you get. Its like more than the -125% given. Keep it at 0% 4. Decay is basically the release. Keep it at 50 (centre top) Save that preset!!! When you linking a band from an EQ, not the volume knob - put an EQ on what you want to sidechain, so you have way more control of the frequencies you want to sidechain - you don't need to invert. You just link that shii and it ducks. It's really good when ducking specific frequencies.
This episode is a little disappointing you guys missed the best way to sidechain in fl studio you are supposed to use frequency splitter and then use the link to a peak controller, it allows you to sidechain specific frequencies instead of ducking the entire spectrum, and then set the base to 50% in peak controller. Love the show please share this sauce!
@@islandgirl024 no I was hoping to learn something new instead of the same recycled information that is not even close to a good way to do something when the video is titled "the best way". if you can't decern the difference between criticism and complaining then you are just ignorant and you lack the nuance to understand why I even commented. There is multiple ways to sidechain in fl studio that they didn't mention that are far better then the ones they did.
Here's one I haven't seen anyone use when using midi instead of audio: Make an automation clip on a fruity balance volume knob on a sidechain mixer channel. Use audio samples in the playlist to shape the automation clip to match the shape to the kick length. Mute that clip and then copy your kick midi to the automation channel midi. It will then trigger that automation clip you made every time the kick hits
Good day, guys! Also you can do sidechain, or ducking with Balance Clip Automation in a Layer connect to the drum (Kick, whatever..)... So, the Clip Automation sound between that drum... In connection..
Thanks guys so being so consistent and I love every week looking in learning something new and old and just great stuff ❤❤ Hears to another 52 weeks. Ps side-chain
Instead of linking the peak controller on the fader itself, insert a fruity balance plugin, link it to volume instead. so your faders are not affected. Also you can use automation clips to sidechain. Eliminate does this alot actually. You guys should also include sidechaining with 3rd party plugins as well. Kickstart2 can be triggered by audio as well as shaperbox. Still, good content either way. Cheers.
I always found Ableton sidechaining easier but you guys pinned it in my head now. Sidechain . Also i have a question on other plugins like shaperbox. I'm still confused on how to do it with none fl native plugins sometimes the audio wont show up but maybe I'm sending it wrong to the channel.
Fruity Peak is my go to. Especially when im tryna carve space for vocals when they're competing for space with the melody or pads/synths etc. Using the exact (Fruity peak) steps shown in the video. Except instead of linking peak controller to the fader, I'll link peak controller to the problematic frequency band in Fruity EQ2
I side chain with fruity limiter when i want something quick, but if i want precision, i use peak controller to fruity parametric eq2 nodes. Someone already mentioned using the bands of frequency splitter. Frank Pole did something much closer to soothe, for free. Too many ways to side chain in FL, plug-in or not
In 20 years of making beats, I've never sidechained my kick and bass. I usually just find blending kicks and bass and I just slide the bass forward so that the kick punches through and I still get the tail of the 808 sub without it clashing. Sidechaining always felt like an unecessary step to me unless you're doing it for style purposes, i.e. electronic music and trying to get that "pumping" effect, but they make plugins for that now too, so. Cool to see creative and different ways to do sidechaining though.

New to FL this podcast is legit.

Nice to see a different perspective.

Ima need a tutorial bro 😂
Agreed. Felt more of a sidechain for beginners kinda video the more longer i watched lol
If you know how to do it why are you here? Smh people these days just wanna complain

Good SideChain examples..Thanks
amazing that there’s multiple ways to do things in FL so u can chose the way that works with your workflow. probably confusing for beginners tho

Without a plug in u can do this multiple ways. Hell even volume automation with the volume knob on the sequencer.
I love the peak controller sidechain, it's my go too.
Thank you for this episode, love what you guys do, time for some SIDECHAIN fun time
Fruity Balance is my go2 Sidechain, drawing the automation manually is slept on, plus you can route all your sidechain inputs to 1 automation clip
Side chain the peak controller to sequencer volume control. So it’s before plugins and not the fader in mixer. 🤞🏽
Love it bro , keep it up
Great explanation on how to sidechain guys.
Can't begin to explain how valuable it is to have a sidechain in use.
Thanks guys so being so consistent and I love every week looking in learning something new and old and just great stuff ❤❤

Sidechain. Helpful stuff.
This is the exact video I’ve been looking for as of recent.
Great Sidechain tips and tricks, don't duck out from watching this video, good job as ever guys
Fruity peak flow meter is my first method of a clear and stable "SideChain"
But I might print afterwards and try these new tricks from you guys 😅
Sidechaining with Dynamic EQ is also neat
Not sidechain related, but hold shift when you're using the cut tool. You can just click and it puts your cut right on the grid!
These SideChain examples beats have perfect headroom
That Sidechain shinny and heavy.

Always leveling up from Larry
I like how theres a bunch of different ways to Sidechain.
12:54 Fruity Balance
Instead of using peak controller for the volume knob on the mixer use it in the EQ for the 808

Thank you for saying that. I think I see why it’s used in my genre but I’m also going to try your way and see what happens. ❤
I like to pan it to side, chain it to kick. Drop down an octave, yo that's legit.
I'm listening!
swag sidechain
IN THE TOP RIGHT NEXT TO THE DIAL OR USE THE DIAL YOU CAN EXTEND THE LEGNTH OF THE PATTERN THEN U CAN SET IT FOR 128 FOR 16 BARS DOUBLE TIME
IN THE CHANNEL RACK
Kickstart plugin is a good side chain plugin for beginners too.
@@mreugenealmighty for sure. I think I mentioned that in here too
