      It's bc the hilt was cracked and the crystal was directly touching her hand
      I think it's kinda stupid to do it when the lightsaber is on, from a creative perspective. And every other bleed we've seen in canon involved an explosion. This one did not. But the "how" part makes sense tbh, and it makes sense why anakins wouldn't have turned

    I guess the shot is visually impressive but it raises some questions about how bleeding a kyber crystal actually works. For example Vader had to focus all his hatred and even then only managed it the second time (see Darth Vader 2017 #5). That's a big difference to how it happend with Osha, with her not even focusing on it.

    • @shahzebhasan9995

      I can think of a couple of explanations, though of course neither are perfect:
      1. Osha no longer having an outlet for her anger after killing Sol allowed her to inadvertently channel it to bleed the crystal.
      2. Qimir is actually the one bleeding the crystal, and he's allowing her to think she did it herself to convince her the dark side is her destiny.
      Of course, neither explanation covers the absence of the usual explosive plain and visions, and it's entirely possible we are misreading the scene and she is intentionally bleeding it.

    Something nobody is really talking about is, that was master Sol's saber, the very same one used to kill her mother. Others have asked why this didn't happen to Anakin's saber in ROTS but this would be a nice way of explaining that, whether it was intentional or not from the writters. It would make sense that part of her anger and hatred would be directed towards the saber, and with the crystal exposed and that close to her, it would make sense that it would bleed.
    The Acolyte was a bit iffy as a show on the whole for me, but I like the way it ended. Seeing a kyber crystal bleed in live action was awesome, the light saber combat was great and I'm glad Osha turned to the dark side and it wasn't just a happy Disney style ending. No. Sith Crystals were synthetic so as to not be used the same way jedi used the sabers and as often. Thats why Sidious kept turning his off when he faced Maul... They would over heat

    • @manofmercy1500
      @manofmercy1500 3 місяці тому +11

      Not in Legends, no. Sith sabers usually used synthetic crystals due to both being restricted from gaining true crystals (due to the Jedi occupying most of the galaxy’s known sites of the crystals) and that even if they did get some, the crystals couldn’t handle the Dark Side’s more volatile and unstable energy. This is likely the way Vader in Legends obtained his saber, simply by making a new one after losing his older Jedi saber and using one such synthetic crystal.
      The current canon is what introduced the concept of “Bleeding a Kyber Crystal”, and as far as we know, the Sith when first pledging themselves to the Order, are tasked with hunting down a Jedi to take their lightsaber that’ll undergo the “bleeding” process in order to claim the corrupted blade as their own. Though technically ANY Dark Side force user (Dark Jedi, Imperial Inquisitors, etc) can do this with their own sabers, the Sith are usually the most known to do so. With only Ahsoka and Luke having been seen in the current canon having been able to reverse the bleeding process (though with different results).

    For the people asking why Anakin's lightsaber didn't turn red in Revenge of the Sith: it's not as simple as the user doing evil things. Their hatred has to be channeled into the crystal.
    Anakin was doing terrible things in Revenge of the Sith, but his heart simply wasn't in it yet. He knew what he was doing was wrong and he didn't want to do it, but he felt he had to to save Padme. That's why there was a whole scene of him just crying on Mustafar after killing the Separatist leaders. Anakin and Vader were still at war within him, and it wasn't until after his fight with Obi-Wan (or possibly after he learned of Padme's death) that he fully turned.

      I like in the vader 2017 comic, he steals it from a powerful jedi master Kirak who is a really awesome character, and then bleeds it himself. It's more explosive and difficult for him, probably both because of The power of Kirak's bond with the crystal and Vader's own inner conflict, unlike Mae who was certain when she killed the weaker Sol. Some people are disappointed that the show didn't focus more on the sith characters (although in the end, one of the good-guy characters did become sith), so I would recommend Vader 2017, as Vader, Palpatine, the inquisitors and the awesome Darth Momin are really cool there. I also hear that Kylo Ren comics by the same writer Charles Soule is good, but I haven't read those yet.

      I dislike the idea of "bleeding" a crystal as the *primary* way a Sith gains a lightsaber. Because it ties the Sith too much to the Jedi, rather than letting them be their own thing. @@garbotoxins840 Ehhhh. That may be the route Disney decides to go with it, but I liked the way it was in Legends, where the Sith existed independent of the Jedi, only really becoming "connected" after the Schism and the exile of the Dark Jedi lead by Ajunta Paul landed on Korriban.

    Also a moment that Disney shows ho little they understand much of anything. If a Lightsaber crystal was bleeding in real time the end of the saber would not be blue. It would flicker with red light until the flickers became solid. A lightsaber beam is created from a focal point. Therefore anything coming out of that point would either be mixed or show as two separate colors. I have to say the writing of this show is very predictable and the plot was lacking, but it also introduced a lot of cool aliens and concepts into live action and I feel like it understood how to feel like a true Star Wars show. I also loved the lightsaber fights they were really well done (would’ve liked to see more in the finale though)

    I really like this more positive take, since it breathes fresh air when we all need it most, and considers things we often don’t think of at first. But I’m afraid that the brewing comment wildfire brings up some good points. Guess you have your next clip?

    Got to honest, seeing the change was cool, but saying the reason it happened so fast was cause she apparently was touching the crystal feels like a cop out explanation

    • @garbotoxins840
      @garbotoxins840 3 місяці тому +1

      It isn't really a cop-out when that is the established canon. The times we see bleeding, characters either touch it directly with their hands, or focusing the force directly on it.

    Was it cool, yes. Does it make sense, no. How does Osha know how to bleed a crystal? She didn’t even complete her Jedi training. Vader needed Palatine to tell him how to bleed the Kyler crystal, and it was a torturous process. But I guess Osha can just kill one guy and that’s it

    • @garbotoxins840
      @garbotoxins840 3 місяці тому

      She didn't know how to bleed a crystal, but the lightsaber was cracked open, and she was touching it as she killed her master and father figure. If Luke had killed Vader while holding a crystal, it too would have bled. I think the same would have happened if Anakin killed Obi-wan while holding a crystal.

    I still wish this SW element was a Legends thing first. Would kill to make it so via time travel, reality warping, or something.
    And even then, a shame this live action first is in an inevitably damned show by terms of future critical acclaim. Remember, RoboCop 2 did a kind of CGI first by way of using a certain villain's head for a figure interface in the endgame, but alas, it just wasn't a great film all while said effects are noticeably dated, so the achievement feels worthless.
