We were all here before! You can always go far beyond what you think possible. I struggled hitting 1000 before and now I'm over 1700 a few years later. You got this!
Welcome to the club, I found holding on to it as much of a Challenge and fell back to 780 and now rest at my best performance at 1200 ISH though it can be lost much easier just keep chilling and it's great to see you snagged it with such style points well done
That seems to be how it goes for me too. I break a milestone, then drop below 2, 3 or even 4 times before I finally hold onto it permanently. There's a difference between hitting 1000 as your peak, and having 1000 as your natural rating.
@IvanLChess Absolutely, and this doesn't take away from your accomplishment. You're officially a 1000 elo player. Just don't get discouraged if you dip back down -- it will only be temporary.
@@IvanLChess that's exactly it achieving this milestone is probably the best feeling in chess was for me, I am not really fussed to reach 1500 personally though everyone differs there. Though I got a new outlook on rating and feel anyone from 950-1050 is really a. 1000 rated player as a few games can drop a lot of elo
Congrats man! You did it! I myself am an adult learner and everything just takes longer 😭😭😭 any other things you’re interested in learning? Like I had a 6 month Rubik’s solving phase 🤣 just never stop learning! It’s the fountain of youth
Thanks! Probably just keep better at chess I’m still enjoying it. I learned the Rubik’s cube in high school so got that out of the way luckily haha. Used to solve it under a minute but forgot all the combos at this point.
@@IvanLChess Nice!!!! Sub one minute is at least good for a 1200 equivalent chess elo :) Quick question while you are here. When I was completing my journey to 1000 chess elo as an adult learner, wasn't playing Chess just the most stressful thing!? I've done so many competitive things in my life, but yet as soon as I hit that "play" button it is anxiety inducing. haha. I will keep playing and enjoying chess, but getting in the right headspace to play is not something I may ever get used to :)
CONGRATULATION IVAN You gave me motivation to keep going and I wanted you to succeed even when I was jealous of your consistency at times Road to 2000 ELO maybe? 🤔
@ Thank you, too. I discovered your channel soon after my baby was born and watched your videos while I was on childcare leave. I have enjoyed watching you improve your skills and enjoy the game.
Man I am so proud of you! Congratulations my friend! You have come such a long way! And 1000 elo is a big deal! It’s a huge accomplishment don’t sell yourself short. I’m so happy for you!
Amazing job man. 1000 Elo is a massive achievement, don't undermine this achievement by saying it's not big, just because you don't get a title doesn't mean it's not a showing of skill, hard work, and dedication.
Good job, I also crossed that line yesterday after exactly 200 games, also playing 15/10 (I reckon we should be of similar age, too...the hairstyle is certainly the same). Just checked to be sure and we never played. I also play the Caro but with c5 against the advance. I'll sub and watch some older videos, because I always like these runs and enjoyed my time as well. It's quite rewarding to go from nothing to reasonable in any skill :) I'm struggling a bit with setting a realistic next goal. I think I'll aim for 1600 in 2025 which seems quite ambitious assuming things get exponentially harder. Race ya to 1200?
Let’s goooo. As a bald middle-aged guy myself, I respect your grind! When I hit 1000 rapid I celebrated like crazy! 1000 blitz has been incredibly hard to hit for me. What’s your next chess goal? I love following your progress.
We got 1000 elo Ivan before gm Levy
lol! One is slightly easier than the other 😂😂
Congrats! Now we push for 1500.
Good on you, man! 1000 is still better than like 80% of all chess players. It's been really cool to watch your journey!
Appreciate you following along!

Its about the mental block. Once you reach 1000, playing 1000 rated players is way less scary
Congratulations man. I am so glad you made it.
Congrats!!
We want a Q&A session from the GOAT Ivan
Congrats mate

Congratulations!! Looking forward to the next series! (road to 1500? Learning new openings? Playing OTB?)
At 11:00 you had Nd3 to force a trade, because if he takes the bishop back, you fork him with the pawn now defended by your knight.
Fantastic 🎉, you’ve earned it! Merry Christmas!
Thanks dude, Merry Christmas!
Congrats man! I'm on the same journey myself! Would love a game at some point if your down
Nice man!!!

That’s awesome man. I have a few things in mind but nothing elo specific for now
congrats. you did that pretty quick! no more blundering your queen on a daily basis 😂
thanks! It turns out you lose a lot less when you don't give up your queen willy nilly all the time lol
We did it!
I think he miss clicked, wanted QB4 instead of Qc3

Grats! It is probably best that you just quit now, there is no way that someone of your age will ever get to 1200. :P
Calling chess players gamers? Unsubed! 😡😂
