- This video looks at video handling basics in Cubase. It starts with importing a video in Cubase, which is placed on a video track with the sound on a separate audio track. There are many options for working with video in Cubase, including matching the frame rate of the video file and Cubase project, a dedicated video window, showing timecode in the video file, different time displays, pre-roll, adding markers, tempo changes, accommodating video edit requests and exporting the video with all changes embedded. Working with video in Cubase is very flexible, ensuring your music and audio edits stay perfectly aligned with the video.
We hope you find this video entertaining and useful. If you like what you see, please leave a comment and tell us what you think. Thank you.

Thanks, I've just been pausing and writing notes. Copiously. This was a great video! I appreciate you listening the times.
Wow this was like the "missing manual" of Cubase on video handling! Thanks Greg!
Calm, on point and not too lengthy. Thumbs up to that!
Thank you, Greg Ondo! For always helping me whenever I wanted to understand a certain feature/workflow within Cubase.
I've had Cubase for so long and never did this, I had no clue how easy it is, haha. This was so helpful! Thanks Greg!
Soooo helpful Greg. This very well maybe the most informative, detailed UA-cam video on scoring to video with Cubase - - ever produced. So many important details are missing on some of them, but are included here.
This has to be one of the most useful and best Cubase video on the Net!
This is what makes Cubase an industry standard. A truly outstanding piece of software.
Thanks Greg. Clear & concise. I can't believe that I had Timewarp at my fingertips all this time. It would have saved me hours/days with previous scores.
Very useful instruction. Thanks Greg. I'm sure I'll be watching this a few times!
Many thanks, very helpful and appreciated.
Thank you Greg, this is very important subject for scoring artist. The problem is when trying to create music for changing tempo every time. Videos are not always cutted with music in mind.
Very helpful, thanks a ton Greg!
Brilliant as always Greg, thank you
Thanks! Great info here Greg
I can’t explain how helpful this was to watch. Thank you for sharing!!
Great informative video. I was not aware of many of the key shortcuts and time display options. Thanks.

Vow Greg! This video is the most detailed video on scoring with Cubase.
I am so impressed with both Cubase and you who have made the video. It is the best I have ever seen in video management with Cubase. WELL DONE Greg and also all Cubase engineers who design this function inside the Cubase 10
I am glad the video was helpful and kudos to the Steinberg for creating such a wonderful set of tools.
excellent explanations......helped me immensely.
This is incredible. 🎵 I wish I knew some of these tips earlier! Especially adding some measures before measure 1. That way my piano songs would still match sheet music but I can add some silence before the track starts.
Wonderfully explained. Thanks!
Brilliant, Thank you.
Thank you, Greg. You just made my life easier :)
I have learned something, thanks Ondo.
Thank you so much Greg, that was extremely helpful!! 👍 I'm a beginning media composer, and I love working with Cubase. 🙂 Stay safe, and best wishes from Berlin!!
I hope that the video helps you write some great music. We are safe here and doing well. I hope it is the same for you in Berlin.
So helpful! Many thanks.
Very useful indeed ! Thanks
Awesome, helped a lot!
I'm saving a link in the cubase video test folder on my HD, not as a bookmark among thousands to be forgotten forever !!! :D
There's a lot to test in that 18 min video, thank you very much.

👍👍👍 best video about video editing inncubase
Thank you !!!
Hi Greg. Thank you for these amazing videos. How can I get rid of video latency and choppiness issues on Cubase 10.5?
Thanks!
Incredible dense, clear and helpful explanation!! Thanks Greg! I have a QUESTION: It is possible with the "time warp" tool to produce accelerando or ritardando (time ramps up or down) between 2 markers as I drag?
Cubase is so so under-rated.
Very nice thank you
Love your voice.keep on bro.
THANKS!!!!
Thanks
awesome
12:31 when you've time warped measures 1 through 9 how do you then get the two bars of pre-roll to the new tempo of 77.473? This would be needed for making a click track for an orchestra session for example.
Greg thanks
shoutout to the "mallards" at 10:19 :D
Amazing! I was using a bucket and you just handed me a fire hose.. One thing...I have a video that jerks and freezes in the Cubase video display window but plays smoothly in the windows and VLC media players. I've tried converting it to different codecs and that didn't fix it..Any thoughts?
I've used Cubase for years, obviously not to its fullest potential because I guess I've overlooked that you could add audio to video
Great and helpful tutorial. In the whole youtube space however I cant find a topic on "How to add video streamers and text to read and the text to follow and apear on exact time domain" . Something like EDIcue but edi cue is MAC only for some of the plugins. and also it is Protools only.
Not only that, but all simillar softwares are for short lines like movie short centenses. I need similar but for narative text, that have timecode written in the script. And to be able to plot it on the timeline and the text to apear in sync in realtime. This way the voice over tallent will be always in sync from begining to end.
Greg this was great but I wonder how I can deal with one long video such a film and access to it from different cubase projects, avoiding to import it every time. Thanks
You could have a master project and projects for each cue. Export the audio from each cue into the master?
What if I have two separate videos lined up next to each other, would they be exported as one video?
Great video, thanks Greg. However, when I toggle between bars/beats and timecode the time display doesn't change along with the transport windows. Any insight is appreciated.
What all the formats and resolution of videos supported by cubase. And wat is the higher gb of video card is needed!? To run the video
What video format can we import in cubase 10.5 pro ?
Hi Greg how do i change tempo in Cubase pro 10?
Hello, can I optimize VRAM when using Cubase for video scoring? And how do I set it up?
So helpful.... I have been facing this issue for quite a while now... every time I import a video, by Cubase crashes within 10secs. Do you know what seems to be the problem?
Great video but I'm still getting problems with Premiere export / VLC rips, containers, H.264, file formats and compatibility. A video on that would be great.
Also import movie into Cubasis for Ipad ?
this is like ultra helpful omg. Thank you so much :D happy to see hamburg in that video :D
Hallo, can you please explain how to fade-in and fade-out the video? Thank you
I've got two monitors in my control room and third monitor inside the vocal booth. How do I setup the video player to be shown on two monitors independently? On my first monitor is my project timeline, second monitor mixer, plugins and small video player, and I want to play video on full screen mode on my third monitor in the booth for ADR.
Hi does this video editing ability apply to all cubase daw le Ai elements 8?
Now that was a tutorial.

Brilliant! I'm trying to add my own score to The Matrix movie, but it plays the original movie score in slow motion, not sure why.
Check your sample rate and bit rate
can i add fonts or contrast videos in nuendo?
what all formats with codecs of the video supports in cubase 11 pro.. For me some of the videos is not loading and playing where some loads but audio track is not coming up. Please help me on this!
hello cubase users... I cant seem to find the export video on file, please help.... thanks
at 6:38, why did the time display not adjust to the first measure of the track after moving the cursor back to the beginning?
So id love to use this but when in click import usw cubase just doesnt do anything.
I‘ve tried so many different thongs now like konverting into mp4/mov ir changing the sample rate.
Does anyone has an idea how i can fix this?
I don’t even get a dialogue box - when I double click the video it just adds it in for me
Can you time stretch video? I’d love to sample audio from videos in my tracks
When you import video, it creates an audio track from it in your session. You can time stretch and manipulate the audio track without affecting the video file, assuming that they aren’t grouped already (CMD+G). I hope that helps!
Did they remove the Replace Audio in Video feature?!?!
Can I Know what type of video files Cubase Can playback?? Because when I playback My video file which I transfer from my camera for Dubbing it just stucked at one frame and audio just play back.
Thanks
My video audio file is sped up.. in desperate need of an answer on how to fix this. Thanks for the video!
Hi there! In some cases the audio from the video file is not the same sample rate as the session. For example, if your audio import is 48kHz and your session is 44kHz (or vice versa), the audio can sound sped up or slowed down as a result. That might be your issue, just speculating!
Hello greg! I have something to ask you. I succeed to import the video at my cubase 12 AI. But when i open the video player, theres only black screen. Can you help me?
Hi Greg, when i am trying to export my video, even though it plays back perfectly in sync in Cubase 11 Pro, after export, the audio is slightly off, enough so it notices.....looking around the forums, others seem to have similar issues but I cannot find any answers to this and how to solve it....do you have any ideas?
My workaround for now is that I have to shift the music /fx a few frames so it plays back slightly off within Cubase and it now plays back great outside of Cubase, but this is not ideal to work, it's hit and miss.
Your help to resolve this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Is this video editing available on cubase ai le elements 10.5? I can't find the "export video" on file, please help thanks
I don't think the export video feature is in Cubase Elements.
Greg - I've read a few people wondering this about Cubase. Why will Cubase change the project start time when it adopts 23.98 or 29.97FPS? It doesn't do this when being set to 24, 25 or 30 FPS. Also why is it that it appears that the actual frames don't line up with the bars and beats when using 23.98 or 29.97 as well? For instance if I set bar 5 to 01:00:00:00 using 23.98 and then go back 1 frame and then forward 1 frame I will see it at 01:00:00:00 but it will show me at 5.1.1.7. When I do the same thing with 24, 25 or 30 FPS I can go down one frame and then back up to bar 5 even. Lastly - why is there no 23.976? Thanks!
👏👏👏❤️
Why does the Video player still NOT support portrait format?
We're in 2023, if I'm not mistaken...
Is there a way to rename a portion of the bars and beats? For example the first 4 bars name them A, B, C, D and then it transitions into 1, 2, 3, 4 ..
Do you want to label different sections of the project in the timeline? If so you can use a marker or arranger track to do that.
Cubase Elements 10 cant read video files? Becouse when I import the video file it says: "Video engine cannot be initialized."
So I'm trying to insert a video file into my cubase project, but nothing happens. Doesn't video file work with Cubase LE ?
how to can i deal with latency ( delay) in cubase 10.5 every time i add plugins it make the vocals late (not in time)
Do you find the delay when tracking or working with a vocal in the mix? If it is during tracking you can lower the latency of your interface and run a reverb plug in with low latency. Many interfaces like the Steinberg UR have special hardware DSP so you can monitor reverb without delay. If.the delay is during a mix Cubase should automatically compensate for the latency of the plug-ins.
