    The way the ship just appearing out of nowhere in an endless world of blue is an amazing and eerie sight. The way the sunlight shines down on to the wreck is also breathtaking. I also love the contrast between the wrecks, from alive, colorful, and thriving on the Britannic to dark, dead, and decaying on the Titanic. But regardless, both wrecks are amazing to see in their own right.

    I never realized how intact britannic is, people are always saying “we should raise the titanic” but I think the britannic is our best option considering the condition of the wreck

      I know this comment is 4yrs old but yeah considering the state of titanic right now it would cause catastrophic damage to it and given it only has 30-50 years left it’s best to let her slip into the sea.

    Despite it being covered in all sorts of bacteria and the bow being almost detached from the rest of the ship, it's still in great condition. Man, to go down there and be able to explore the Britannic's exterior, the actual Britannic itself, would probably be emotionally overwhelming for me. Unfortunately, with Titanic, you'd need to be inside a cramped submarine looking at it via a small monitor picking up visuals from a camera, and it's not in particularly great condition. But this you could see with your own eyes, you could touch it, you can even explore some of its interior, and the majority of the ship is still just the way it was if you don't consider the stuff growing on it to be a big deal, and it's been over 100 years since it sank which makes it all the more astounding.

      yeah it'd be an amazing dive, definitely something you wanna put on your bucketlist but still even seeing the titanic thorugh a window and monitor upclose even in a sub would be amazing considering the wreck is gonna be gone in 20 to 30 years due to decay :(

    It is interesting to note that two of White Star's 3 'Olympic Class' giants still exist though. Although in a different form to their original states, both Titanic and Britannic remain with us through to this very day whereas the first of the sisters in 'Olympic' ceased to be in 1937. Everybody that had something tangible to do with these three great sisters have also long passed. White Star Line itself ceased as an entity in 1949 when the remaining shares in the company were completely bought out by Cunard. It is noted that only the Nomadic remains to fly the red burgee with the white star, but in a way, her giant sisters are with her as well.....

    • @eccentricgamer4111
      @eccentricgamer4111 8 років тому +9

      And even though Olympic is gone, various fittings of her can still be seen throughout the world that were sold for auction when she was scrapped.

    • @ursuss100
      @ursuss100 7 років тому +10

      Also worth noting is that 100 years later, Britannic and Titanic remain, at 274 and 269m long respectively, the largest passenger shipwrecks on the seabed, although Titanic, as we all know, is split in half.
      Larger passenger ships such as SS Normandie/RMS Queen Elizabeth/MS Costa Concordia have sunk and were removed since then, but there weren't many.
      The Olympic class was the largest in the world back then and you can still see why: 269+ m long, 26m wide and 53m high (from the bottom of the hull to the top of the funnels) is in fact still bigger than a lot of today's ships. Given they were designed more than a century ago, they really were engineering masterpieces of their time.

    Why is everyone wanting to rise these magnificent ships out of the water? You can't, the ship would break up with in minutes of being out of the water. And, it's just now becoming a coral reef.

    • @flaviomele621
      @flaviomele621 4 роки тому +4

      Nah it wouldn't. Whoever came up with this idea really needs to 're evaluate what they think they know . It won't just break up or turn to dust or whatever shit people say just because it contacts the air . The forces on the hull from a lifting mechanism may indeed do structural damage but air outside of the ocean won't magically make it fall apart .

  • @baileyfox2546

    To everyone who thinks brittanic can be raised are living in a dream world, it's been in 400ft of water for over 100 years, laying o. It's side which no ship is designed to do, whilst sinking with the bow twisting and breaking off, the ship underwent major stress that went far beyond its intended design, moving the ship now would result in nothing more than it simply collapsing into itself, and if by some miracle it did make it to the surface, the reaction to the air would almost certainly make it crumble like wet paper, if you look at the Mary rose, once out the water she started deteriating very quickly which is exactly what would happen to this.

Not only is it virtually impossible to raise the Titanic due to sheer mass, extreme depth, and erosion, it would ultimately be pointless and ridiculously expensive. Also, the Britannic is not intact. That doesn't even merit a response. It would be both prohibitively expensive and extremely dangerous; those ships are deteriorating hulks, the Titanic is resting in two pieces at 12,500ft. They cannot be raised, and if they could, raising it just so people can see it in an aquarium or museum (it wouldn't fucking fit) is retarded, and they'd be too dangerously unstable to have anyone tour the wreck anyway. I don't get why you even bothered to post; everything you said is asinine.

      Dude, you're fucking dense. The Concordia was only partially sunk and not a brittle, rusting hulk. That was a by the book (albeit complicated) salvage effort. I shouldn't have to explain this to you. Do some research. The Titanic sits at a depth of nearly three miles, and you wouldn't even be able to move it without it crumbling. The few researchers that still go down to it don't even go to the aft section anymore because it's too dangerous and unstable now.

      Not only that. Titanic was a real shock, when the biggest ship in the world sank on her very first voyage. In a peaceful time!
      And only then people realized how outdated the safety regulations was. 16 lifeboats was not enough for any ship that big, no ice patrols, no constant shifts for radio operators, no regulations for rocket signals (Titanic actually had various colors rockets, not only white, but they weren't understood by the Californian's crew), and so on.
      Titanic made a great impact.
      Britannic and Lusitania sank at the war time. And even though it's a tragedy for life loss, it wasn't that big, as Titanic.

      Firstly, olympic and titanic have a different interior layout. Second, White Star had MANY other ships in service. They weren't exactly 'hurting' for money overall.
      The sister ships were both under insured and partially self-insured.
      A wreck of any ship of the new design would certainly cause the insurance bill on the others to go up.
      Basically the ship-swap-sink idea would result in more $$ loss than leaving things alone even if the fictitious fraud went exactly as fictitious plan was supposed to go.
      Unlike the conspiracy people, they were good at math. (And they weren't stupid.)
      third, TItanic's hull number was 401, Olympic's were 400, and parts were not interchangeable. All the part numbers found on the titanic wreck were 401. Fourth, the M-P switch is nonsense. - The M P you see in the videos is CLEARLY Photoshopped.
      Is OBVIOUS when you realize the faked video shows clean metal and no rust at all in the cut.
      - Further, the very suggestion they riveted letters over engraved letters is ludicrous.
      How are you going to hide a deeply engraved "O" with a riveted "T". - You can't.
      - And one more on the M P.
      The letters were 4 ft high, if rivet type would have weighed several hundred pounds each, were high on a high ship (requiring cranes), and there would have been 6 sets to change. (2x ships with names on the back too.)
      I can tell you from experience that such a job (using rivets) would probably take 3 or 4 days if you rushed.
      Maybe two days if you had 6 cranes and 6 crews available and nothing went wrong.
      At that height the swap would have been plainly visible for a mile or two from the yard in EVERY direction.
      Paying just the shipyard workers wouldn't cover it.
      You would also have to pay-off everyone in town and everyone in the harbor.
      That would include MANY people that didn't work for White Star, News people, people that had been screwed by White Star, people that worked for competitors, competitor's execs, sailors and officers on other ships, politicians, judges, kids. Talking 1000's of people.
      Do you REALLY think that would have worked?

      The rusticles are the cause of Chemosynthetic bacteria; which means they obtain sustenance from breaking down inorganic compounds, i.e., the iron from Titanic's hull, for food in the absence of sunlight. These rusticles are the deposits of waste created by them. You can say Titanic is Smorgasbord, Buffet, Bar Mitzvah and Ramadan all-in-one for these guys; while Britannic is like a Ritz Hotel for Coral!

    As much as I love the three Olympic class liners by White Star (Olympic, Titanic, and Britannic) shouldn't the Britannic be considered a war grave based upon her timing and the purpose she served? If I'm wrong (and I may be) but people perished with her and she was struck down by a war time instrument during a war in which she was commissioned a war time hospital ship? If she's a war grave then how can someone have any rights to her?

    • @simonferrer
      @simonferrer 9 років тому

      +4HMEntertainment The only casualites happened on the surface; as far as I'm aware, no one went down with the ship so it can't truly be called a war grave. I'll have to research it, but if the Britannic was still owned by the White Star Line and only under commission to the crown as a hospital ship, then either the White Star Line would retain ownership of the wreck, or if they abandoned their claim, anyone who filed a claim for salvage rights in maritime court would then own the wreck. Once this right is established, it is then transferable to anyone willing to purchase it.
