- The raw footage - the first 15 mins or so of my first dive on HMHS Britannic. The raw unedited footage - I was too busy thinking 'OMG' to aim the camera, think about lights or anything other than ride the scooter to past the bridge, along the bow and up to the port rail

There's something so creepy yet so fascinating about shipwrecks. Don't you feel even slightly creeped out being around that thing?
Nope. Visibility and conditions were perfect. No torch needed unless in the shadow.

I would shit my pants even going anywhere near the WATER where they are. Shipwrecks are creepy as hell. Not even trains or planes have that same feeling.
This is horrifying. Yet, I can't watch away.
Seeing the real size and the scale. Then just thinking how big Titanic is when she's laying in the cold, dark Atlantin ocean.. Completely alone.

Britannic was so big that her length is literally longer than the depth of the Aegean Sea.
Really wish they would have at least preserved the Olympic
Makes me sick that so many ships have been scrapped
Seeing how many museum ships haven't survived the test of time it would only be a matter of time before something happened to her that would result in the need to scrap her be it poor maintenance or economic downturn.
I wish they kept it and kept the dazzle camouflage!

Sad but as I understand, it was in the 30’s and they needed the jobs in Scotland so the Olympic had to be scrapped 😢

The only existing Olympic class ship that's still with us today, even tho it's underwater it's still complete and easy to reach

@@ryugafan426 britannic is actually very possible to rise. but it's in greek waters with heavy traffic and they are not very coöperative about the ship.
At roughly 400 feet only advanced divers can go down that deep. It isn’t considered easy for a regular diver to achieve due to the amount of pressure at that depth. Some consider the wreck of the Britannic to be the sort of Mount Everest of diving due to the challenges faced with going that far underwater.

Seeing this footage makes me think that Britannic’s sinking was actually a blessing in disguise. A massive Edwardian steamship, nearly identical to Titanic, lying in (relatively) shallow, calm, warm water, and unlike most large passenger shipwrecks, she is in excellent condition. We’re lucky to have her on this planet! Unlike many in these comments, I don’t find this footage scary at all. I actually find a peculiar comfort and warmth in being close to her! She is certainly a war grave, honoring those lost in her sinking. But compared to other major maritime disasters, her sinking was orderly and most of her passengers were evacuated safely.
think we could raise it? they save war grave but didnt people die becasue they got chopped by the propellers and no one actually went down with the ship
@@randomrazr there’s certainly a bigger possibility of raising Britannic vs Titanic and with a blank check I guess anything is possible! However I think Britannic is best left alone where she is. I have a feeling she’ll last longer down there anyway.

The fact that the bow hit the sea floor before the stern was submerged is really crazy to think about when you are mostly familiar with the titanic sinking.
It is crazy. Brittanic would be in better shape if the ocean floor had been only another 75' away!!

@@titan9259 yah but lusitania’s wreck is in a bad condition because during the 2nd world war some battle cruisers or battle ship thinked that the wreck was a sub or something dangerous in there radar so they drop some explosives there and also getting the munitions on her wreck making a withered lusitania
The sight of it going down in broad daylight must have been amazing, all fear and death💀 asides of course.
It sank like one of those toy pool torpedos you throw underwater, when the hull was fully submerged the bow turned into a leading edge and dove down
It is so hard to grasp the scale of Her, Titanic and Olympic but never less, this is amazing.

It feels creepy in a way knowing that that giant thing sank in the very water you're in, in just 1 hour, and that it's still there, and you can just dive there, and it gives you an idea of how large her sisters were

the shot panning up from 11:42 is the most eyry and terrifying view i can imagine seeing as well as looking down between the bow section and bridge section where the ship split. It is so insanely cool nonetheless but my god would i be so terrified just by the sheer size and the fact that I am looking at THE Britannic.

This is so cool but so unnerving. Like my stomach lurched most of the time watching this all that emptiness and than suddenly the ship just looms out of the blue, so unnerving, and yet it was so damn cool too.

Thanks for sharing this. It's people like you with the skill and guts to go down there that give the rest of us a chance to have "been" there as well. I think, despite the size of the ship -- which I think remains the biggest (originally intended) passenger liner on the ocean floor to this day -- that for those of us who have seen modern ships, they might be disappointed a bit by how much smaller it really is than today's liners. It's still huge, for sure. If you've ever been to the Queen Mary, you'll get an idea of the size, even though the Queen Mary is even bigger -- but it is not that much bigger. I do agree, however, given the intense fascination with the Olympic liners, it would have been great if this giant ship could have been raised, docked, and repaired, then preserved for all to see. Titanic is slowly wasting into a pile of rust some 12,000 feet below the surface and broken into two pieces. Precious few have ever seen it or ever will, again, except in videos. Britannic offers the opportunity to preserve this incredible story and history. Oh, well -- I guess it was never meant to be.
I see that I am not the only one who finds this both terrifying and fascinating.

Death doesn't bother me but gigantic things do, so maybe it is the size. I dont know.
If I was diving and came across something that was that big, I would probably poo my pants and never go near water ever again.

Olympic class liners were not only enginering master peices, they were works of art.
Much love and respect for you guys going down there and bringing Britannic to us. I saw the silhouette of her at 3:34 and my aching back had chills going up and down. 395 Feet (or 120.4 Meters) might not be that deep, but seeing the vast open ocean around her makes us realize how much we still have yet to learn about our own planet and its hidden wonders - and teaches us to never disrespect our wonderful creator who has made it possible for us to build these great historical marvels of human ingenuity.
So sad that we cannot bring her up and convert her into a museum - she will be better off remaining where she is for decades to come long after her sister the Titanic has disintegrated from all of the metal-eating bacteria.

People died on it so I don’t think they can raise her,could be she’s declared a war grave also with the massive damage to her bow and the fact she’s the biggest wreck on the ocean floor I don’t know if it’s even possible,have to admit if they did do it that would be brilliant to go see
@@Makeitso2023 It's more plausible than you think, and rumors of restriction on specific ships in Greece is being slackened specifically for ships like the Britannic. The only major concern would be the structural integrity of the vessel, being underwater for 100 years, but in theory it could be lifted up slowly in a complex manner... I don't know if it would be plausible to turn her into a dry museum, but perhaps a shallow-water diving experience would be more plausible. I really don't know, but no big plans for here have really been started yet.

@@jollamasbait the guy who owns the wreck said he isn't actually against having it raised, but he isn't going to pay for it to be done. If some investor comes along with deep pockets and offers to pay for it to be raised, it could happen, but the chances of that are pretty slim.
Well its condition is like the titanic, its far to risky raise it as if they did the ship could break apart.
Wow ... seeing that viewpoint from the bow with the crows nest is wicked cool thinking and mixing the idea of how it twins with Titanic.

You ever think that in a peculiar way, the olympic class ships were the most environmentally friendly of its time… between the titanic and Britannic they ended up becoming either coral and bacteria beds for life to flourish and the olympic was recycled.
I would never want to go underwater and see a shipwreck. It’s just terrifying to see
What they should do is send ROV’s into the interior to see what it’s internal condition is. It would be fascinating to compare conditions between that and the Titanic.

Yeah, she’s mostly intact, compared to her Famously illfated older Sister.
Fun fact: This ship is almost identical to the Titanic. From the rooms, staircase, exterior design, etc. So in essence, this is the closest we’ll get to touching the Titanic, let alone in better condition.
I imagine once Titanic becomes rust we’ll all go running to Britanic.

Incredibly well preserved they should raise it before it's lost..
And then what? 🧐 Restore her and have her float as a museum? Just raising her up alone would cost too much, and she may look sturdy, but she's only as sturdy as golden foil, sadly. Even if she was brought back up, there would be nothing to really do with her 🤷 I mean, look at the Queen Mary, she's still floating and fu nctions as a good looking museum ship, but with damages that are not so visible to the public, but she has some drastic repairs that needs to be handled, and do you know how expensive that is? Very expensive!! I mention her as an example so you can understand that raising up Britannic is simply not worth it at all. She should rest there in peace and fade away as time will go by.

Titanic was breakd because of her own heavyweight when it was new imagine the situation right now.
It would be cheaper to build a new one than raising her, not to mention that it could get destroyed in the middle of the process to raise it

The britannic is in the very good condition tho because of the sea life in her wreck its protecting her from the rusticles making her last longer than her sister titanic, but its still sad to think that white stars superliner ment to join olympic in the atlantic run ended up in the bottom of the kea channel its sad :(

Very uncomfortable and fascinating, wish a psychologist could explain why we all feel that way. It's just a boat underwater, I mean really it shouldn't even be interesting, and yet it is much more than that.
If there would be a billionaire willing to raise the Britannic and restore her into a museum ship, it would maybe take a decade to do so. But seeing her in the White Star Line delivery would be freaking awesome but making a replica of her in the way of how cruise ships are made is far more better to have as a museum.

Brittanic still needed outfitting & trim work. WWI broke out, she was taken as a hospital ship, so the builders decided to wait on these final appointments.

I'm still so fascinated about the Britannic, and Titanic. Sure, I know lots of details about both those ships, but still. I like the Britannic more then Titanic LOL-
You know, apart from a few details, they’re both nearly identical.
Or Were Technically,
Britannic and Titanic were both Sister Ships, and Olympic-Class Ocean liners, that ended up Sharing the same fate through Run-ins with bad luck.
This left the 3rd and Oldest Sister of the Trio, The Olympic, as the only Ship of her class to actually Survive and Work for White Star Line.
Which she did until the White-Star Cunard Merger in 1934 and she served the Cunard White Star Line for a few more months after that, which she would be Retired and Scrapped in Scotland in 1935, with her keel being Finally Dismantled in 1937.

@@jacobmackenziedivingchanne8595 Good lord I wouldn't be able to dive at all because the ocean terrifies me, but imagining that in particular is horrifying. Having to just sit the decompressing in open water for hours, I'd be shitting myself staring at the blue nothing.

@@zarkmuckerberg8341 The Bends is an illness that arises from the rapid release of nitrogen gas from the bloodstream and is caused by bubbles forming in the blood and other tissues when a diver ascends to the surface of the ocean too rapidly. It is also referred to as Caisson sickness, decompression sickness (DCS), and Divers' Disease.
You decompress at different depths, depending on how far down you dive.
Not "sitting for hours" in one spot. More like sitting 15 minutes for every 150'.
