Your next challenge should be the extreme of this. Only make a deck with cards NOT in the commander’s color identity. You’d have to have a rule that you could cast your commander using mana of any color or something like that, but it creates some interesting situations.
That was rather rude of the 3 J' s to just go straight out and kill Stephen and it wasn't even halfway through the video, also no one else was below 30 life until Stephen did his last attack against John, and for what reason was that specific targeting? Solely because he was 4 points ahead of the person in last place, 4 POINTS. Honestly I'm very disappointed that Stephen didn't get to play his deck practically at all. #TeamGreen
Focus on Justin: "Oh it's Justin, he deserves it" Focus on Jeremy: "Why, it's the usual, then? I'll take a #2 large with extra salt and sauce." Focus on Stephen: *Takes the entire table and a zombie horde* Focus on Jonathan: *Looks around nervously* "Do we even think about doing that?"
So I finally caught up... ...and what a ride it was! I‘ve watched McDarby and Danny West build up Commander Versus. Couldn’t get that catchy „Minamino ... dudu dududuu“ out of my ears for hours. I‘ve enjoyed how Justin, Steven, Wes and Jonathan met the challenge of following in McDarbys and Dannys footsteps (despite the constant and annoying cries of some UA-cam commentators). I‘ve seen Steven break all the agreements, Wes becoming salty as hell, Jonathan being the first runner-up and Justin wining all the games. I was sad when John left but got more than compensated by Jeremy Noell, who seemed to be way to nice to win even a single game. I Had to cope with the great loss of Mr. Cryptic Command himself, Wes Wise but instead got my favourite „spike“ John back (hurray). I‘ve seen the glorious mill episode that should not be spoken of again (and watched it at least a hundred times). It must have been then, when I got totally fed up by all the cheater and know-it-all’s comments on UA-cam. I was intrigued by Johns Kangee Deck and his hate for grouphug. I was amazed by Stevens love for Chromat and unbroken will to bring mono-red to the table. I couldn’t believe my eyes when Jeremy pulled off that Villainous Wealth which in retrospective foreshadowed bearded Jeremy. I was astounded how well Justin mastered Black-sacrifice Decks and am so happy that he found his true love Meren. I hoped so long for #TeamGold to win the first season championship. So what’s left to say? Thank you all and keep up the great work!
Really interesting question in the end about the next commander product. I personally would like to see monocolored decks pushing a theme that is underrepresented but present in each color. It could create a lot of cool new decks and open some cool new possibilities for existing decks that already support the theme (Nekusar, Abzan reanimator etc.) . Here is an example: White: Reanimator, Commander ability: Whenever you cast a creature return a creature card with the same type from your graveyard to play, Example of existing card: Karmic Guide Black: Spellslinger, Commander ability: Exile a card from your hand: Target black instant or sorcery card in your graveyard gains flashback, Example of existing card: Toshiro Red: Wheels/Discard, Commander ability: Whenever any player discards a card create a 0/1 Kobold of the Kher Keep token into play, Example of existing card: Squee, Wheel of Fortune... Blue: Aggressive fliers, Commander ability: At the beginning of your end step create a 2/2 Drake with flying if played a creature with flying this turn and draw a card if you attacked with a creature with flying this turn, Example of existing card: Windreader Sphinx Green: Flying hate, Commander ability: All creatures your opponents control have flying during your turn. Landfall: Deal 3 damage to target creature with flying. Example of existing card: Hurricane
Thank you for pooling questions for the end. I for one appreciate it. I enjoy following the flow of the game, and twitch comments and questions ruin it.
So first of all this is one of my favorite themes honestly so more of this down the line please! But i have to give Jon credit. I saw the deck tech figured "of COURSE he went effectively Esper Death and Taxes style shenanigans". Then he became my favorite deck of the episode when it was his turn to talk lmao
@1:05:36 "Let me tell you another human being that's never read all the words on Brudiclad, that's Stephen Green." "Or read all the words on any cards, at all." Truf.
Someone in the comments last week mentioned the points system is starting to stagnate your play styles and make it so games are less interesting. Every season is literally the same making every game the same, doesn't matter the theme. Ep.1 Stephen or Justin win big. Ep. 3 they get spite killed everyone in comments gets frustrated. This cycle ebbs and flows all season. Things need a big shakeup this has been a rough season so far, and IMO the least enjoyable in a while. This happened in my playgroup, forcing us into different play styles, variants, letting go of ego and actually paying attention to threats at the table.
You guys should have marked this Archenemy because that's clearly the rule set you were playing by. Every person attacking Steven the whole game and killing him. I understand how powerful Ob is but dang. Also for as much as Jeremy complains about being targeted he sure didnt have a problem targeting Steven.
Steven is usually the one Jeremy is conplaining about so it's glorious revenge. They also said at the start hes the point leader and scariest general so he GONSTA die
Starting at 1:45:00 the Gang has a 5 minute conversation about Witch's Oven 6 months before its release. Pretty interesting to see what they're brainstorming about compared to what we ended up with.
I hate that Stephen was just struggling to survive for most of the game, he had issues the entire time and he helped the board from getting oppressive from milling 12s each turn cycle, death (Jeremy's big attack coming) it just seems everyone wanted to kill Stephen for being there. #TeamGreen
>Justin gets targeted out of countless games "Oh, he deserves it because he's Justin" >Stephen gets targeted out of one game "THIS IS A GRAVE INJUSTICE HOW DARE THEY TREAT HIM WITH SUCH CRUELTY COMMANDER VS. IS UNFORGIVABLE!"
It's sad I had to scroll down this far to find a comment like this. Stephen easily had the best deck. Proper threat assessment shows that John and Justin needed him gone to have a chance. Jeremy might have been able to compete 1v1, but as the rest of this episode showed, he could easily beat John and Justin. Why leave the toughest opponent around?
Omg, so much this! I will gladly admit to being on Team Green and certainly wasn't particularly thrilled with how quickly he was taken out, but there is no doubt his deck was the most explosive/powerful, at least in the given game. It is scary how so many fans are one-sided in their opinion of the individual players, since as OP indicates, other players have been strongly focused on in prior episodes, but it is only when Stephen is being targeted that the comment section gets particularly vocal!
You guys should do a Supervillain Planechase Royal Rumble. You each pick a famous villainous character from M:tG's history - Nicol Bolas, Yawgmoth, Takeshi Konda, Fblthp etc, and you play commander planechase. But each of you has a scheme deck. It would be chaos incarnate but absolutely glorious.
I think my favorite interaction with Brudiclad was to create a token copy of my Covetous Jewel, then turn my 10 myr tokens into covetous jewels, which I used to cast all the other artifacts in my deck.
Future add-a-color variant you can play: MaRo EDH, from magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/making-magic/word-commander-2011-06-20. He specified three changes he'd make to color identity: off-color mana doesn't turn colorless (already changed), hybrid cards allowable in either of their color identities ('or', not 'and', so Mirrorweave playable in Wx or Ux, not just WUx), and mana abilities not restricted by CI (his example is a City of Brass variant, but Noble Heirarch being playable in any Gx deck is equivalent. Unclear if he would extend this to all abilities, so Brutal Hordechief was considered mono-B, for example. If so, this means a decision has to be made about whether CI is determined differently for the general and the 99, or if Tasigur becomes mono-B as well). Just the hybrid change would be reasonable to try out, or trying to find an implementation for his take on mana abilities if you're feeling daring. Thanks!
Notice that Jeremy and Justin are never in the same shot! They are the same person filmed playing against himself, he shaved his beard for the second part!
How was the #1 recommended rules change to Commander not the abolishment of the color restriction on hybrid cards? I should be able to play Debtor's Knell in a monowhite deck or a Deus of Calamity in monored.

If you kiki jiki something before combat, and then use brudiclad's ability to target another myr, does it still go away at the end of the turn? Likewise, if you target the kiki jiki'd myr token do all the tokens go away at end of turn
Since Kiki's ability is not added to the token with templating like "and that token gains "sacrifice this at your end step" " the effect is tied to the game object rather than the rules text of that object. In case 1 where you make a Kikitoken and then morph all your stuff into that kikitoken only the one created by Kiki will go away. In case 2 where you make a kikitoken and then morph all your stuff into something else only the token created by Kiki will go away.

Glad Hallar is finally giving the recognition it deserves! I think that people undervalued it due to the lack of good kicker spells in green and red, but I still think it is a strong Gruul commander. Great vid 👍
I'm sorry guys, but I really found this video disappointing. The aggression directed at Steven reminded me of feel bad games of Commander I've played before (involving saltiness by myself and others) and therefore really didn't make for an enjoyable video past about the first hour. In my opinion, seeing someone being hated out (over what I can only assume is points) makes for poor gameplay, and after reading some other comments I don't seem to be alone in thinking this. I remember last season this happened numerous times to Parnell, which made some videos equally unsavoury to watch, and I really hope this doesn't become a trend. I love your content guys, and I watch every week, but if you read this I hope that in the future you consider gameplay and watchability as valuable as you do winning seasonal titles.
People complaining about the target on Steven... He was in first place in the early season by a close margin... this has happened for years in Commander Vs!! They are playing for points, there is a reason the early leader falls.
We're back with a fun challenge, Add a Color! What Commander and added color would you build if you got this challenge?
Raff adding red to do patriot tribal artifact flashy shenanigans
Breya, Etherium Shaper, adding green for 5-color artifact nonsense.
Shirei plus white for more degenerate sac combos and to use the Teysas, especially the new one.
sultai scarab god for doubling the tokens
Actually, I also wanted to play an Advisor tribal deck as soon as Petitioners was revealed.
Your next challenge should be the extreme of this. Only make a deck with cards NOT in the commander’s color identity. You’d have to have a rule that you could cast your commander using mana of any color or something like that, but it creates some interesting situations.
Or cast only with their enemy colors. They need to declare it at the start (like going red when you're blue or white)
SOMEBODY UPVOTE THIS
We’ve been experimenting with this in my play group recently. Four color Talrand is pretty spooky.

I love your content guys, and I watch every week, but if you read this I hope that in the future you consider gameplay and watchability as valuable as you do winning seasonal titles.
Justin looks like a bearded Ned Flanders.
Love this channel, but damn man why all the hate on Stephen? Nobody focused on anyone but him the entire game until he was out.
Glad there aren't any Justin nips in this video, stick with the hoodie
Going against the rules kinda ruined it when you play green with a red & blue commander.
This was an add a color week
People complaining about the target on Steven... He was in first place in the early season by a close margin... this has happened for years in Commander Vs!!
They are playing for points, there is a reason the early leader falls.
Justin should have attacked john so john could block with the petitioners
Best kicker card? That doesn't look like Rushing River to me.
Is it me or does Jeremy seem not happy to be playing lately?
Love you guys
Wednesday's are my new Favorite day!
I didn’t realize Justin was a Packers fan. Go Pack Go!
Progenitor mimic+Avenger of Zendikar+Brudiclad is op

Seriously, the targeting of Stephen went way to far.
