@21:23 Stephen's lines of play never cease to amaze. He could have cast Thief of Sanity and Lightning Greaves precombat and attacked with the Etrata and the Thief.
Loved this video. Especially the part where they touch on the fact that you could hardly tell that they were working with a budget restriction. After a summer of people falsely trying to prop up Brawl by claiming Commander was SOOO expensive, its good to prove the point that it doesn’t have to be. Two thumbs up.
I know, right. Commander is SOOOOO EXPENSIVE that I just want to drop money on standard cards that rotate so that I can buy entirely new decks every two years.
Oh you right, I think he missed all of them. I read that as how many times they just missed the trigger to "shuffle" her away in general, and redirect to command zone. Which he did almost miss once. Sorry. I don't think there was any time where he knew enough of the top of his deck for missing the shuffle to really matter. But he did miss them
LOVE this series so much so thank you for being so great: all of you. I write this befor diving into the video but I see that Jon is back, welcome back.

Did I miss something? At 26:57, Skullbriar goes from 3 counters at 4 due to the Krasis evolve trigger. At 27:11, Justin attacks Stephen and inflicts 5 Skullbriar damage, but Skullbriar does not gain another counter.
In the beginning of this one so far, gotta say, John, love the deck, wouldn't mind seeing it played with no price tag limits, and so far most interesting win condition has to be Stephens deck. Pure lulz
@@doomofthedestiny8065 One of the four offical oracle rulings on the card states and I quote "An aura put onto the battlefield this way can't enchant an artifact or enchantment that's also being put onto the battlefield with Open the Vaults". So no. He does not. All of the permanents are returned at the same time, so they enter at the same time, so Aegis of the Gods is not a legally enchantable because it is not yet in play until Ancestral Mask is also in play already. They also dont at all go on the stack so they are at no point resolving. If they had to resolve that would imply you could counter individual artifacts and enchantments being returned by Open the Vaults. But they do not go on the stack so they at no point resolve. Priority has nothing to do with this, and even if it did no one has priority during a spell's resolution.
Yeah, they aren't being cast. They are being simultaneously being put on the battlefield. Therefore, Ancestral Mask could not have enchanted the Aegis. This comment needs more likes. It's a rather obscure situation, but people should still learn the nuances of auras if they don't already know them. Fun fact: Auras only have targets when cast. So if you blink a Pacifism, you can put it on a hexproof/shroud creature.
That intro was a beautiful thing and the banter this week was fantastic. Also, as a big fan of the banter I can confirm that if you like the banter here you will indeed enjoy Think Twice.
Yavimaya Enchantress and Ancestral Mask count ALL enchantments in play not just Jeremy's enchantments. Justin always had at least 2 additional enchantments in play. It didn't matter this time, but you made the same mistake over and over.
So at 30:00-ish when Justin gets Rebuked, he could have chosen to put Skullbriar back in the command zone to keep all the counters, right? Hand is just usually preferred because it's normally better.
Nope, it had Darksteel Mutation on it, therefore it did not have the ability "Counters remain on Skullbriar as it moves to any zone other than a player's hand or library." When it was moved out of the battlefield.
No, the Darksteel Mutation meant Skullbriar had no text so didn't get to keep counters. Though, the Mutation should have gone back to Jeremy's hand as well - all permanents controlled to OWNERS hand.
Watching this after Ikoria, can't help to think about how much better Skullbriar is with Ability Counters. Imagine the thing having permanent Hexproof, Flying, Lifelink and Menace...
Jeremy's hand made me so sad I've been playing enchantress for years now and recently added blue when tulvasa came out but I've never had the engine fail like that all lands for like 3 turns
Why is it that all of the commanders I’m interested in watching are played by Jeremy. It seems like every time I find a set of commanders I want to watch he’s got the bant deck or the enchantment deck or the queen marchesa deck
I think a lot of people misread etrata. It can only exile creatures but only cares about cards in exile. So you can animate opponents artifacts (u/b is good at it) and exile those and it still counts. Almost all decks run artifacts and you have no other way to really deal with them in u/b anyway.

You got this man!!! can't wait!!
Pound sign 4 life

You’re good.
Suggestion: For No-Shave November, you all have to have a commander with a Beard.
Would a deck with all art by Edward P. Beard Jr count?
Hopefully
14:47 game starts I'll be that guy
Doing god's work.

You're the real MVP
Its appreciated not here for deck techs
Ducki Elquacko someone had to do it
Am I the only one sad that the Niv-mizzet animation wasn't added in post?
Not going to lie Director Kyle's deck was sick.
Yeah man, that combo was insanity.
Do they not play their own decks
Congratulations to john! Love the crew, love the show, wish you all nothing but the best for the future! #teamgreen
I'm only halfway through the episode but I'm pretty sure Jeremy has drawn all his lands already.

How many times did my guy Stephen not shuffle after the Etrata trigger? #TeamGreen
Once, and they caught it
No, you still need to shuffle your deck even if Etrata goes to your command zone

Literally laughed so hard at saurez saying stop trying to make fetch happen
When I saw Jon was playing Izzet, I knew he was going to win. The deck could've used more instants and sorceries, though.
Holding onto that Banefire the entire game, that's some patience.
Missed counter on Beastmaster Ascension at 1:29:00. Oh, the counter arrived at 1:30:32. Good job, Jeremy! :D

When Jeremy cast open the vaults he can't enchant Aegis cuz the 2 cards are entering at the same time so Aegis isn't a legal target.
They still have to resolve independently, he has priority, and choses the order they resolve.

Subtle Hamilton reference from Jeremy around the hour and five minute mark. Raise a glass.
I caught that too. I would chalk it up as a coincidence, but Jeremy has worn Hamilton shirts before, so clearly he knows it's a reference.
Congrats on the baby John!!!! Great episode, the super burn was great ftw!!!!
what a great ending! director kyle needs to build more decks!
wow so Niv is still good in Commander
Jon was on fire this episode. Congratulations on the baby.

Commander VS and dinner. Can this wednesday get any better? :D
Justin and Stephen forgot about Kefnet's Monument's tap effect, Skullbriar shouldn't have been able to untap and attack for lethal that turn.
I wanted to see a Tuvasa Deck in Action. Now that I have seen what it can do even on a Budget, I more so wanna build it.
8:00 Myth Unbound is insanely good in my Saffi Eriksdotter deck.
