- The Sonic Storybook Series is one of the less remembered spin off titles as there weren't a whole lot of games made under the series, however here was a rumor that circulated years ago which claimed another entry in this series was being developed. Can we find enough evidence to suggest this was the case, or will it be all Greek to us? Find out today.

As part of the VERY rare species of people known as those who liked Secret Rings and Black Knight, I would LOVE it another storybook game was released, especially if it used the long-speculated Greek setting.

Black Knight was the first game to reference chili dogs, right? Hard to believe, considering how prevalent they were outside the games.
I’m glad to see that I’m not the only one out there that still likes those games. Heck I remember being so excited for Secret Rings that it was the first game I’ve ever played non-stop after getting my Wii. Like from the day I brought it home to the dead of night. Heck, it was the first game besides Wii Sports that I’ve ever played on that system. Not counting those demo units, of course, which was even I first tried out the Wii for the very first time.

A film noir Sonic game would be a weird case as I don’t know how they would do a fast running game like Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic and the Black Knight. How I think it could work is to make it a point and click adventure game with finding clues, talking to suspects, and solving the mystery similar to L.A. Noire or the early Telltale games since Sonic has appeared in his own RPG I think it would be cool to take him to adventure games. Better yet make each installment be a different game style like the horror/haunted house game be a survival horror game for kids of course, as there are not that many survival horror games for kids. (Excluding Luigi’s Mansion)

Just imagine, an alter-Tails Zeus, throwing consecutive Thunder Shoots at an alter-Shadow Chronos, wielding a sick scythe made of Chaos Spears, almost like Haseo's Plasma Blade in .hack//G.U., in hectic death match atop Olympus, moving faster than the eye can see, almost like some kind of recreation of the usual Cloud vs. Sephiroth faire. Maybe an alter-Chaos Poseidon and an alter-Silver Hades would have Zeus' back, but 1-on-1 between Zeus and Chronos would be more cinematic.

I really enjoyed Black Knight. Would have liked to see what they could have done if they kept on refining it, BK is a huge step up from the first Storybook Game.
Those were my first 2 sonic games I've ever owned. I could hardly read or beat any levels but nevertheless I enjoyed it. And that series of games is special to me.
Anyone else have any ideas about how all five results each might've created a story?
Here's mine to start:
*Film Noir -* Probably takes place in the 1920-30's. The villain sends Sonic through multiple iconic movies from that era, most of the main characters in the movies being replaced by Sonic's friends' counterparts (to keep that recurring theme going :))
*Greek Myths and Legends -* Probably similar to the Iliad or the Odyssey. Sonic endures many trials, going on a quest to... I don't know. Possibly stop another villain. Or maybe to retrieve an artifact that helps defeat the villain. I don't want to say Hercules because it's sort of anti-climatic to me. (tbh Sonic fighting a Medusa seems cool)
*Horror -* Somewhat similar to Luigi's Mansion or Sonic Unleashed? No comment here.
*Sci-Fi -* Probably Back to the Future-esque, or other iconic sci-fi book. Probably Sonic discovering new and strange things? Idk
*Western/Cowboy *- Sonic as a cowboy, oh boi-- Either way he has to prove that he's able to take down the villain and (not) get the one true love of his dreams.

Beth The Cat Maybe with the Greek Myths and Legends, they could have Sonic pitted against a fictional Greek deity who intends to overthrow the Olympians and rule over mankind. Even provide their own version of what happened to the lost Trojan Cycles.
I would of liked a journey to the west style game with a monkey king knuckles. It would be fun

I've always wanted to know if there was going to be third Sonic storybook game? And now I know.
With a not so good reputation of the first two games. I'm pretty sure Sega wasn't planning to make a third entry because of that reason.

Release date would have been 2011.
EDIT: I know it was just for fun, it would have been nice to see an alternate timeline where the 3rd one was real. Also, if this series expanded, titles for 2013, 2015, 2017 and 2019 would be released as well.
There are already three Sonic Story Book games. I do consider Sonic the Hedgehog (2006) as the first in the series, believe it or not. Sonic '06 is like The Beauty And the Beast. Like the movie, a princess falls in love with an animal character.

Funny thing about the western option
I came up with a third Sonic Storybook game when i was 8, and it took place in the wild west...the whole plot was about Sonic reuniting with Sonia & Manic for some reason lol
I love Sonic and the Black Knight. (Nostalgia could be involved, I dunno.) But I would've been ecstatic if a third game was announced. I always hoped for it, but obviously it never came. Sad.
Literally any of the other possible candidates would've been more interesting for a Sonic game than Greek mythology!
@Xavior Eh, Greek mythology has been done to death and it's gotten kinda boring. Hell, even God of War realized this and made the latest entry centered around Norse mythology.

One thing I've been dying to see looked into is the game RC Lazer Warrior. It was an online Unity game that was hosted on several different Flash game websites, including Cartoon Network's website, and it's been dead for years.
A sonic wild west game where he has like maybe a revolver would be sick as hell, and he has like roughed up brown gloves and shoes, and if you 100% the game he can wear a cowboy hat!

I genuinely wanted to throw my phone into the garbage bin after hearing that it was done for fun because the storybook series were a genius idea. I sometimes still get the feeling that they won’t try because of either they did that poll for fun or because everyone was hating the games that came after 06 in the so-called “dark era”.
Horror and Scifi would have been interesting. Just imagine ghost sonic or cyber sonic or even cyber ghost Sonic!
Awwww. I really like Black Knight (tho I'm probably biased because I like medieval fantasy); it would've been interesting to see another game in the Storybook Series. Tho I personally would've went with Western, since I think it would've made a very fun and interesting game.

Well, I remember the poll, and I remember it not leading for anything. And I also remember it being hypothetical. So I suppose I didn’t get anything out of the video that was supposed to. But I did get to see someone who didn’t know about it do a bunch of research to be caught up on this. That was fun I guess. :)

I think why the other reason why a third game never saw the light of day because both Secret Rings and Black Knight were DELISTED in 2010.

You should cover BioShock PS Vita. A long time ago when the PS Vita first came out I remember that it was announced as coming out soon and I even remember it being in like a gamestop preorder thing. I remember trying to preorder it from gamestop and the guy behind the counter was like "development has been delayed so the preorders have been pushed back" or something and nothing ever came of it.
