I remember I had a slimline version I carried with me on my business travels. Just about wore it out. Left it in a hotel room in Scotland as there wasn’t a Bible in the room. They called me snd said they found it. I requested they leave it in the room or place in on the table in their library and I would get it on my next visit. Hopefully someone who needs The Word of the Living God stumbled across it in a time of need.
I have been wondering if the switch from verse by verse to paragraph and to single column is the result of people not reading their Bibles anymore. If you are not use to the format then you will be drawn to a Bible that looks more like a book. What are your thoughts?
I want to get one of these. UPDATE: Found one at Mardel's for a great price in black TruTone. I like it a lot. I grew up with KJV so the layout is familiar and somewhat comforting.
Hi Pastor Matt, Thinking about getting this edition for expository preaching as well. Just wondering how preaching from this edition is going? Does it work well for you? Any pros & cons?
I've stuck with various NASB's from zondervan for the simple fact that they are almost exclusively verse be verse. I've been using them for a decade or more, and I can't get into the paragraph bibles. I really like the ESV just because for how it reads. I ordered this bible this morning.
I love seeing a well marked Bible. I'm clueless when it comes to Bible styles/formats. Maybe I've even used a verse-by-verse format in the past and just didn't realize it! I actually just bought one. I'm waiting for it to arrrive so I can compare it with my New Classic Reference, which is not verse by verse. If it's easier to read, I will donate my Classic Reference. If not, I will return it & keep my Reference. Or perhaps I will end up not returning it & just donating it. It was on sale, so I wouldn't be out much. Actually, do you know anyone who needs a Bible & can't afford one? I would much rather donate to a specific person who really wants/needs one, rather than to just an organization. My Reference is in almost-new shape. I've been using my Kindle version much more often these days.
Hey Matt, there is a 2020 printed version of this Bible in Trutone, I'm not sure if this one would be line matched or the quality of the paper. If you could, could you please do a review on it? I'm looking for a Bible and I've decided to go ESV, this translation isn't sold in my country and I depend on reviews to help me decide what to buy. I've search, but cannot find any reviews of the 2020 printing, almost everything I've seen is either the 2011 text edition or if it's the 2016 text edition, it's printed back in 2018 without line matching. I'd really appreciate it if you'd be able to do a review on the 2020 printing of this Bible. God bless you and thanks.
Hi there. I'm not Pastor Matt, but I did own this in Trutone Black. The paper sits somewhere between mass production and Holman Handcrafted. I guess a middle tier between common and premium.
I agree with the lack of symmetry when it comes to all sides of the page. Why would Bible publishers want their users to have to read words bending down into the gutter? And if you mark or highlight, it makes it that much of a smidge harder. Oh, and I can’t get on the single column train. Not ‘Bibley’ enough. Ha ha. I was saved under the KJV and love the dbl col and verse by verse. I can tolerate the paragraph.
Argh! I likely would never have noticed that the margins are unequal. Now if mine is that way, it might bug me, LOL! We shall see. I'm not too picky. I just want a Bible that won't strain my tired, aging eyeballs. I've been horribly nearsighted since childhood. Now that I'm, uh, several decades older, it's not getting any better. Plus, I spend all my time in front of a computer screen, which doesn't help.

Love this bible and it is affordable. Bless my soul. Thankful to you Lord.
Just got this to gift, was so excited that it was line matched!
This bible in the top grain, is an absolute joy to preach from. I would recommend it if you want that nice leather feel. God bless brother
The two half-inch margins on the inside together provide the same margin between the text of both pages.
tears of joy! love it, can't wait for it to come. I am learning that the journaling bible has such small print and my fat writing is too big. LOL
Thanks Matt! Another great review.

Hi Pastor Matt,
Thinking about getting this edition for expository preaching as well. Just wondering how preaching from this edition is going? Does it work well for you? Any pros & cons?
I know it’s a bit late but did you end up sticking with this one for preaching or move to something different for a verse by verse format?
Hey pastor Matt, I hope somebody sends you The Preachers Bible from Steadfast Bibles so you can do a review.
Great review as always pastor!! :) How many years of good use would you say this would last?? just wondering....
Love the video but one question is it all black letter text or is Jesus words in red?
I was looking at Christianbook.com and it says black.
I just got one. It's black letter.
I've used the single column verse-by-verse for years. I just looked at CBD and don't see it - very limited audience? so very limited options.
Is this portable? Is it the same size as the omega?

I got one. It is wonderful.
Great review!

A couple of "quibbles", you sound like Calvin :D
