Parents really can do great harm to their children. My parents not only never told me that they loved me, but I was also told that I was not wanted, unplanned pregnancy and if abortion had been legal, I wouldn’t be here. I was 2 weeks old, still without a name; my grandmother finally named me. This affects me even today. So for you younger people who are starting families, please let your children know that you love them through your words and your actions 💕
I completely understand that, my mom has never once told me she loved me. All my friends have these best friend type of relationships with their moms and mines a narcassist who's all about herself.

I’m so sorry that your parents were like that. I hope that you’re making a happy life as an adult. I didn’t feel loved, no pride from parents no matter how well I did my schoolwork or anything else. My point is to please take charge of creating your own happiness. Letting their neglect continue to affect you is letting them win. Get and love your own happiness, please! That way you break the history and do better for your kids! ❤️🥰❤️

I say "I need you" in addition to "I love you". Because of my childhood, I don't like needing anyone so if I feel that way about a man and tell him, that's being really vulnerable because being vulnerable and my affections were often taken advantage of and used as weapons against me as a child and in adult romantic relationships. That's why I don't to show vulnerability so if I show it, I really trust him and feel safe with.
I would say, “I am so blessed to have you in my life. You are God’s gift to me”.
My boyfriend showed me he loved me by spending quality time with me. By bringing healthy food over when I was sick. Protected me, was there for me and always wanted me near him. So when he told me often that he loved me, I believed him.
Besides saying I love you, I tell my boyfriend: “ you are the best thing that has happened to me” , “ I appreciate you “ , “ I thank god for sending you to me “

I've heard all of those from my man and his actions aligned, he's the first man to open up to me and show me love in a way I've never experienced. I feel light and safe around him.
I'm not one to talk a lot about my emotions because of past relationships putting me down whenever I tried. That being said, I know he's different and makes safe spaces for me to express my love and I'm slowly gaining my confidence in doing so after 6 months.
Because I don't express my love verbally often, I will show him my love with affection, baking (he loves it), being there for him when he needs to talk, and investing in quality time together.

I have said that. Just to get dumped shortly thereafter. I'm not afraid to speak my truth and I don't judge so harshly as I did for most of my life. It's our actions that matter. He did show it.
We're in different places in terms of our emotional and mental growth. So again, give the guy a break.
I know it's for the best, I doubt very much I'll ever hear from him again. Regardless, I will not be there for him this time. I'm not into it any longer. He pushed me away just enough to just keep moving forward and this is his loss. Not mine ❤

He was far from 6ft, but anyways lol. He was just a regular guy, worked hard. We got to know each other before we officially got together. I don't think he'd ever met a woman like me before, yes I'm an original. We all are. I'm not dramatic, I am as real as they come, really LOL. Not afraid to show it. I'M SO PROUD OF YOU.
I was home sick alone with our 8 year old daughter. Id had pneumonia and couldnt breathe well even small tasks like making her a meal made me feel like I could pass out. I took my medicines and they made me so tired I slept for hours and barely saw our daughter. It was like 1 pm and I felt neglectful and she needed a parent around not trying ro care for me. I asked my husband if he could come home a little early because I really wasnt doing well.
He unloaded on me that I was being selfish, he was out providing and life doesn't stop because Im sick, the kid is fine, take more medicine go to sleep and get over it.
It kind of broke my heart. I needed him and not only did I feel emotionally neglected, i was insulted and felt like I was being terrible. Now Im labeled by him as having a victim complex. Ive never askwd to come home because I was sick.
I just wanted some help, next time I'll call my mom. Maybe I do have a victim complex I cant even tell anymore.

You certainly do not have a victim complex, that was said to guilt you, you were sick and needed help. You are a caring parent as you were thinking of your daughter even though you were so sick, you deserve better
I know the feeling you went through. I worked at a dealership, and one day turned out to be a day in hell. When I got home, my brother in law was there, and I said to my husband " honey, I had a bad day at work and he said I really don't want to hear about it.
Well, I blew up...I looked at him and said " I always listened to you when you had bad days and now you don't want to hear about my day!! Fuc8 you, I said, got in my car and drove away. Needless to say, I never said anything else bout my days and his ass straightened up quick.

My boyfriend is one of the good men so I do little things to show my appreciation, like little gifts or paying for something for both of us, then when he's grateful and says I didn't have to, I tell him that i wanted him to feel appreciated because [insert thoughtful thing he's done for me recently]. Love to all of you out there!
I think a lot of men think they're in love when they're infatuated. And, basically, they're infatuated with some image they have in their mind. Who the woman actually is becomes irrelevant.
I think thats where slowing things down becomes important. Infatuation leads to lust, which leads to sex. And sex makes it feel emotionally like a relationship, even though he really doesn’t know how he feels yet. Guys who find a person they like, will wait. Guys that are lusting, won’t. They will move on to the next infatuation.

He as well should be a safe place for her to share in a calm way what's in her mind and heart, with no dismiss, no stonewall, no silence treatment, not feeling attacked. I grew up in a home where I was told I love you but the actions didn’t match so that doesn’t always mean anything 😂
I still remember as an adult mother of 3, the first time my mom said "I love you" first, when ending a phone call. I know she never knew the impact she made that day.

Run away as fast as you can. He will only get worse as time goes on. I know from experience. I wish I could have had Matt's help when I was first getting involved. I was married 30 years to a man who couldn't have cared less about me after we were married. He was selfish and narcissistic but I didn't know the signs then. He was never there for me when I needed him and needed a constant fix of other women. Please pay attention to the signs...it's not going to get better. Good luck.

@@terriblue68 Thanks! I just thought of one more thing. Nothing is scarier to a man ( in a good way) than a woman that can keep boundaries calmly. If you’re saying no but are yelling or crying and asking why, that man knows you want him far more than he wants you, in that moment. And a player will take absolute advantage of it. If a man says something that’s moving away from commitment, like “i’m not ready for a relationship right now” it tells him a ton, when you respond. If you say “ Oh, wow. I really thought we were on the same page. I do want commitment, but at least you were honest with me.” Go home and cry in a pillow, if you need to, but mean what you say and assume it’s over. A guy who might be wavering giving up the single life- he will get his act together with no help from you. The guy who’s playing head games, if you show anger and tears, he will immediately try breadcrumbing you. “I do want to still spend time with you. I do still want to have fun with you.” And bam. You just agreed that you’re ok with friends with benefits without even realizing it.

Women who have genuine attraction for a man wont ask him to wait and we know it. Those are games she plays with dudes she isnt into. If shes making you wait, she isnt into you and theres no attraction. At that point youre trying to talk your way into a relationship and that womt work because shes only using you as an option. If she was into you she wouldnt make you wait for anything. If she does, run.
And a man who has genuine attraction for a woman won't rush. And if a genuine woman has real attraction for a guy, she won't rush either. She will take it slow, to get to know him and not destroy anything. Think about all the genuine women you have turned down just because they wasn't rushing into anything. 😄
