China’s Economy Is Nearing Its End, With Only 2 to 3 Years Left. A Massive Collapse Might Occur Soon

  • Not long ago, veteran Chinese media figure Hu Wenhui introduced a new concept in an article -- "a historical garbage period." What does it mean? Hu Wenhui said, "History is like a competition, there are inevitably many garbage times. When the general trend is set and the defeat is irreversible, no matter how hard you try, it is just a futile struggle, and you can only try to end it as gracefully as possible." He cited the end of several Chinese dynasties as examples of historical garbage times. In these periods, no one could reverse the demise of the dynasty, no matter how they tried.

China's period of prosperity, came from foreign investors. The products coming out of China were often substandard, or toxic. Foreign investors got out of China. The decline is inevitable.

Lots of foreign investment flowing into China again. The German auto makers alone are bringing billions in new investments in 2023 alone. Chinese Hightech will be the next growth wave. Due to US sanctions they are now advancing fast in microchips and more. This will eat a big share of markets so far dominated by the US.

China grew so fast, but its demographic dividend closed. It hit a fork in the road... Choice 1: age gracefully and cooperate with the global world order created by the Western powers. Choice 2: challenge the West, embrace conflict, get your way by force even as you age and die. Unfortunately China chose poorly.

Keep in mind, China can no longer feed herself, by a LOT. Huge amounts of farmland have empty cities on top or have been painted green and destroyed in some other way. Most of the water is polluted so it won't grow good crops either. A number of things happened to China`s economy and where it is today they were not inevitable but happened they did.
Having lock downs for COVID was not a natural occurrence . The virus "Might" have been a natural "happening" and inevitable but the reaction by the CCP was all man made. When China took itself out of the world`s supply chain it started a domino effect that should have been realized what the results would be..Apparently, the CCP thought their reaction was a wise one. They thought wrong.
Another thing they might have thought wrong was how important the Chinese economy was to the rest of the world and that their political, foreign policy decisions would not matter or that other countries would have no choice but to accept the CCP`s moves, because China was too big to be ignored.
Greed is a human condition and affects all races/societies and it has an effect on all social/financial economies (inflation, recession). I guess human nature is going to take place so this might be naturally occurring (real estate bubbles is one result) where it can cloud people`s judgements.

The problem is China is not rich enough to build a first class infrastructure so it has cut corners. The people of China are discouraged and do not see a promising future. That enthusiasm for the future is what China needs, of course this would mean removing the CCP from the society, not likely to happen.

Essential upkeep goes way down, you don’t have the money for expensive parts, etc. Why does this matter? China has thousands of dams, and one really big one-the 3 Gorges Dam. If the ccp is on the way out, will they care if there is loss of human life? China sought to do in less than 40 years what it took the United States to accomplish in over a century and a half or more. To expect that experiment to be painless in the long run was more than ambitious. Some mistakes had to be made when you aimed for the skies. Overinvestment in infrastructure and real estate. Defense expenditures to support the ambitious goals, and overambitious territorial aspirations to project an exaggerated political power too did not help. It should not be surprising that the experience for the common Chinese citizens over the past 40 years has been exhausting and exasperating. China will recover, but I don't think we know how it will look after the recovery.

Also local governments raised money by somehow selling the surrounding land. Those are all high-risk and unsustainable policies. So they end up with hundreds of millions of unfinished homes. Factories are in oversupply and easily fail. Also the zero-covid policy spooked most foreign investors. It's going to be a heavy hard fall for most of the economy.

Will only be prolonged misery if they continue to act like Putin and threaten war with Taiwan. If they stop funding Russian war and stop “talking tough,” on Taiwan, then western fear will subside and money will flood back into China. The west sees xi in power forever and then sequestering Jack ma and imprisoning or disappearing thousands of Hong Kong protestors, and they get nervous and leave. Plus it’s bad for your economy for so many productive citizens to be disappeared in Hong Kong. It seems a wise leader was led astray by Russian antiglobalization and pro decoupling propaganda and now his empire is suffering. It doesn’t have to be this way but maybe his advisors are scared of discussing the mistakes and how to correct them.
