  • (Dec. 12, 2020) Talented up-and-coming super lightweight prospect Richardson Hitchins (12-0, 5 KOs) remained unbeaten, scoring a split-decision victory over former world champion Argenis Mendez (25-6-3, 12 KOs). Two judges scored the 10-round contest 98-92 and 99-91 in favor of Hitchins, while one judge scored it 97-93 in Mendez's favor.
The Brooklyn, N.Y. native Hitchins, who represented his parents' home country of Haiti in the 2016 Olympics, used his superb jab to counteract Mendez's power punches. The 23-year-old Hitchins landed 57 of his 198 jabs thrown compared to Mendez's 12 of 90. Mendez landed 80 of his 256 power punches, including 44 shots to the body, compared to Hitchins' 60 power punches landed out of 135 thrown. Mendez came on late in the fight and was more active over the second half of the bout, but was unable to overcome Hitchins' jab.
"I rate my performance a B-plus," said Hitchins, who fights out of the Mayweather Promotions stable. "I think I might have lost one round. I could have gotten an A if I put a little more hurt on him, but I knew his defense would be tight. I've watched him since I was a kid. I knew he was a smart fighter. With the amount of experience I have compared to him, it was a great performance.
"Now I have my first world champion under my belt just 12 fights in. It's a tremendous honor. I haven't been boxing as long as he's been professional. I'm proud of myself."

There's no way Mendez won more rounds. The judge who gave Mendez more points must have dozed off.

I remember when Mendez was touted for big things. He was signed to Mike Tyson at one point.

I remember too. I saw him fight on a card in Pittsburgh when he was signed to Tyson. He did some shady shit to me awhile back so it was good to see him pummeled by Easter and Hitchins both of who I deal with

@@victorbravo8645 I beg to differ. He clinched when it suited him. Clinching has been a form of ring strategy for over 100 years. Excessive holding is a way to stall out a fight by preventing punches from being thrown

Hitchens is dirty and clinches way too much. Many headbutts and elbows as well. Very fast and moves around well but not a lot of power.

The fix is definitely in. I can't wait until PBC gets caught and Mayweather promotions. The announcers are talking about theater when they're the ones in on it too.
All they do is build up the fighter they want to make money off of and color the commentary in his favor. That's controlled.
The ref never allows inside fighting. Have you noticed that. He yells break without giving them a chance to work on the inside because it favors the Mayweather fighter.
The rule is in boxing you only break when there is a lull in the action. I dare anybody dispute that. The ref yells break the moment the Mayweather fighter clinches to create a reset.
This is disgusting. I can't wait to see this whole scam get blown up. Boxing is so corrupt and this is unacceptable.

@@MillienFilms Kenny Bayless is Mayweather's staff. That dude travels around with Mayweather for all these exhibition fights.
Everybody knows Bayless is in Mayweather's pocket. Mayweather has always owned him.
