I seem to find something good in all Sherlock Holmes episodes. The format doesn't matter, film, television or print. Nor do the actors playing the characters, I think they all bring some beneficial nuance to the character. There is something intrinsically good in all of Holmes's endeavors, I will always be a fan.
I love all sherlock Holmes. especially the more obscure and odd ones. truly brilliant.
Capt. Hastings is a bit of a stunner as Holmes.
Great stuff. Thanks for posting this; a first look-see.
Wow, Captain Hastings suddenly got much smarter!
Hugh Fraser makes a wonderful Holmes. This was quite a surprise. Thank you very much for sharing this one with us. Cheers.
Hugh Fraser as Sherlock Holmes? Wonderful ! :-)
If Sir Arthur Conan Doyle created Piltdown Man with his imagination we too could be a complete Fiction!" :-)
utterly brilliant tongue in cheek! Wish there was more....
We are... as Shakespeare said, "The world is a stage, and we are all actors."
Absolutely brilliant an incredible series
my exact reaction! well put, my dear Mick.
What a strange production. Thanks for preserving and posting the video. It's a small piece of TV history.
yes I agree, very odd
How absolutely delightful the pomposity of my ancestors, the English. This was quite a bit of fun, and this actor did a damn good Holmes. Thank you!
Oh my, it's Captain Hastings as Holmes! Didn't know this existed. Thank you very much! Chanced upon this while searching for Poirot episodes. Excellent! Janis, Singapore
RoryAddict yes captain Hastings😂❤️

Thanks
Thanks
Interesting to read that Howard Marion Crawford played Holmes ,as he was Ronald Howards ,Watson. Was it also Keith Michell (not Mitchell)
"It was the chance encounter with the dog that focused my mind." Haha. Excellent parody.
I used to watch QED back in the 1980s but I must have missed this one. Thanks for posting.
I never realized how much Hugh looks like Peter Cushing, until now! :-)
What a well done little film! Great story! Hugh Fraser, good job!
It's Captain Hastings; Poirots sidekick!
As much as Hugh Fraser is delightful in this episode just wished Watson had more teeth in him 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Clever way to present an old and dry subject like the Piltdown Man Hoax. It certainly kept my interest. Sherlock Holmes is one of my favorite detectives and Hugh Fraser is excellent. He also does a great Poirot in audio books.
I've never heard Hugh Fraser as Poirot. John Moffatt, yes, but never Fraser. Are there any on youtube?
Hugh Fraser played Hastings to David Suchet's Poirot. Excellent pairing.
"elementary chemistry, my dear Watson" ha!
ha.
Wow, thanks! I never even knew this existed. Love Hugh Fraser!
Captain Hastings, you are brilliant!
Good fun ! Hugh Fraser (Both were Frasers - ha) is a terrific actor. He did an audio book of Poirot and sounded just like Suchet. Also, HF did all the voices, even the women, quite well. Ta. Cheers.
+RemyHocAge I knew he had done Poirot, as Poirot, but not that he did all the voices, even the women. But I do wonder why . Didn't the budget allow for women to play women and other actors for other parts?? Seems a bit odd, imo.
I don 't know why one actor does all the voices on an audio book. Multiple actors are used in Radio productions. Good luck.
@@Frenchblue8 Yes it could be budget control, but an audio book is one person reading. If various actors take part it becomes a radio play, which is much more costly, with special sound effects, background music, with a director meaning rehearsals of all of the actors. Hugh Frazer is a good actor, but him apart many audio books are badly read by Non-actors, they cannot even put emotion into one voice let alone a different sex. I would for this reason dismiss the libra vox recordings, as a good idea appallingly executed.
Don't remember this but I must have watched it as it was the kind of thing we as a family used to watch. Unless of course I was down the pub. I was 21 that year. Thank you for this.xx
Just out of curiosity, brothers? I remember Hugh as Poirot's "Watson". Good actor.
Better there than here.
And he narrates Poirot audio books. He’s fantastic. I’m addicted.
"There is nothing more deceptive than the obvious." Sherlock Holmes
"There is nothing more difficult to articulate than the obvious" Alfred North Whitehead
And yet both statements are true.
To discern difference in discerning "the obvious" would require putting on a working thinking cap....
Interesting. I always thought Donald Saunders was Hastings. I have listened to Hugh Fraser reading some of the Agatha Christie stories which are just brilliantly read. Live and Learn : )
Will British science ever live down Piltdown?
Contrary to this, there is considerable evidence that the thickness of the human skull is increasing, especially in men.
Squeezing that darn grey matter right out every time they "blow" their noses!
It's a shame it can't be seen in higher quality
But thanks to ai upscale tech advancements they can remastered these fine quailty Holmes adventures
So Hastings wasn't such a nitwit after all.
Oh he was a Nit Wit Alright ha ha
Thank you! VERY good for a newer movie.
bloody brilliant, thank you very much
Great Fu and very amusing. Only the BBC !!
wonderful - a lot of fun. loved the older Watson. :}.
Thanks for the effort in posting this. Sadly, at 240p it’s almost the Lego version
Great Holmes episode ...
Yes, big surprise....Hastings as Holmes.
Just goes to show that they are wonderful actors....
I think the fellow playing Watson was the soldier killed in Zulu? And as the greedy soldier in flight of the Phoenix (Jimmy Stewart version)?
Hugh Fraser as Sherlock Holmes does a very good job (didn't care for the story) ..
And as Captain Hasting in Poirot
Also love listening to him reading the Poirot books.. Jeremy Brent , Basil Rathbone , and Peter Cushing fit the description of Sherlock Holmes and all 3 played him very well
He plays Holmes way better than Cushing.
Would have been great with his own series, with David Suchet as Watson..
Is there a way to get a bit better resolution than 240 just doesn’t make it
I loved this, thank you for sharing! So interesting! History is detective work, lol, but a 19th century hoax is so curious, lol. British TV was sure better than most American TV! Most scientists are honorable, they know it would come out eventually, & like plagiarism, shame is heavy So $$$$ motive, for fame? I love the fiction aspect, the detecting, the history, the chemistry, the biology of it all, so cool! Anyway, wonderful show, thanks!
Hugh Fraser is a very impressive Holmes!
love the bio pic with doggie
Hugh Fraser as Sherlock Holmes !! What a surprise . At the very beginning of the movie at the train station, The head of Scotland Yard, =Poirot was has nemesis at times =was sitting there... O cannot think of his name and I have seen all of the shows. Good movie great tongue in cheek remarks and acting. Would Moriarty wear wellies? THANK YOU.
this is wild! Captain Hastings as Sherlock!
So nice to see Hastings!
Thanks for this,
You are so welcome!
Is there anymore of Hugh Fraser as Sherlock Holmes?--- Thanks so much for this!
Germaine Muller Thanks not that I know of
That was fun!
Very few characters are as well known through generations of people all over the world.
Does anyone remember the music at 7.49 was the theme for the 9 o clock news? Peter Sissons? What is the name of this piece of music? Xxxx help
What's the music near the end?
Amazing how people criticize, yet don't give a VERSION they think would be better .If one doesn't enjoy, move to another SHARE, don't need to put your negative thoughts
I so agree, they may never see this anywhere else and complain because it's not in 1080?? Well kindly stop watching, move on for heaven's sake, and quite your whining!!
Cute little story!
"There is nothing more deceptive than the obvious." Sherlock Holmes
Interesting,Sherlock here was Hastings in Poirot
Watson is bloody brilliant in this
I like hastings as Sherlock any more of him?
Piltdown man..... classic.
Thank You xo

From England.
Hugh Fraser is awesome as Holmes🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Pure class
as Captain Hastings would say ( MY - WORD - POIROT )
THAT IS HIM -- IT'S HASTING'S portraying Sherlock Holmes
BUT UNFORTUNATELY THE ACTOR portraying Doctor Watson his voice fits perfectly
but his appearance just does not fit. Also this man is not acting as lost as Dr. Watson
Why did they insist on casting Watson as a doddering old man in so many Holmes dramas?
Watson isn't "lost" in any of the original stories; he is being mis-portayed as stupid.
Captain Hastings is Sherlock Holmes.. ROFL :D :D :D
I Thought Sherlock holmes is older than Dr. Watson. 😱
Hastings!
Well done for using "Your Leetle Grey Cells"
Science "discoveries" are used selectively for social engineering ends... Watson
as in the Wuhan flu
I. remembered sir Ravi and his friend help us but he miss and gost missed him he upset ouer life
So all this time Poirot was not the brains, it was Hastings. Sherlock in his later years must have fallen on bad times after Watsons death and taken up with the little dutchman. He would then spoon feed Poirot like he had with Watson only Poirot was so odd and clueless he did not even realize it. They truly were "little brain cells". Miss Lemon must be Mrs Hudsons and Mycrofts or Sherrinfords love child. This would keep her gainfully employed as well as keeping an eye on her in europe. That explains everything.
That Poirot show had Poirot saying MAG-KNEE-FEEK, and mispronouncing lots of other French words. Don't know how no one caught all the errors. LOL. Agatha Christie is the master of shaggy dogs.
Captain Hastings, what are you doing?
27:45 the Hound of Sheffield
elementary my dear Watson. :)
QU4ELL3 BELLE PERFORMENCE SUPER HUGH FRASER ENFIN CEST LUI LINTELIENT BRAVO POUR MOI SES HASTINGS QUI JOU SHERLOK HIOMES JADORE§§§
So are the two Frasers related, ie Captain Hastings and Watson?
They aren't, I had checked. They could've added Brendan Fraser and really made us wonder! lol
I think this is a family members angry
Hey Sherlock Holmes here is our very own Hastings from Hercule Poirot oh Mon Ami !!!!!!😘😘😘😘😘😘
He was good in Patriot Games
I just wanted to watch some nice old Sherlock Holmes movie but instead I got tricked. Not so much fun.
Captain Hastings himself
This production was all crapped up by the background orchestral music.
WAY TO BAD, CAN HARDLY SEE IT.
So is Ronald Fraser Hugh Fraser's Dad in real life?
No
We are holy. Not from monkey. This is an important step on your path to awaking
It's strange that they are speaking so slowly.

So your a Creationist !!!!!!!!!!!
