The cool thing about socializing is that there is no such thing as a boring person. Everyone have their own stories, exploring people interests is the best part in meeting new people! You just need to ask and listen to them. People are amazing. Just give them a chance to express themselves and you will be amazed. I love vrchat. ❤
as an extroverted person I have made extremely many friends in VR chat tip: Don't think too much, be more confident and just go with the flow. A conversation is like a water flow, if you go against it feels awkward but if you go with the flow, a conversation feels so good! The first step is the hardest part so do your best (my opinion) This video is very cool and I think this video is a good message for trying something new. Making friends is the one thing but just to talk to people feels really good and refreshing.
@@Teac3300sx if you don't make any superficial friends, what are the odds of finding your real friends? it's a number's game, you can't target the people who are most compatible with you because you don't know who they are before you know them.
@@Homiloko2Think so too. I have my best friends who always been on my sides and help me, but we all have some sometimes different interests, so that’s it don’t bother me if I have friend from other niches to learn and talk about interests, I really like to make conversations!
@@Teac3300sx I have 2-3 really good friends, but sometimes we have different interests, so we make friends from other niches. I don't care if the "others" aren't real friends, what's important to me is that I can talk to them casually, learn together, or get advice. They help me grow, and it's been a wonderful experience to have people with the same interests to talk to.
@ I have a solid friend group but none take part in my interest though. I just wanna find new fun people that are fun and epic! Also I'm guessing you're a quest user? If so I'm still on a Oculus cv1 from 2017.
This is the type of video that gives me some confidence to try and interact with people but once I actually get on VRChat I chicken out and don't talk to anyone lol
People love the energetic gremlin type, I still have a few avatars set up to be quiet and hyper when I dont feel I want to communicate straight away. Another good way to break the ice is to see if the person has their interests in their bio and ask them a question about their interest! Most people will love to talk about what they're passionate about!
When sticking around some people even if youre not talking at all, people sometimes click on you to see what's in your bio and if they do find it interesting they would sometimes starts talking to you. 2 back to back videos! Thanks! Sadly I am stuck in the just listening phase cuz I am surrounded by JP servers and nihongowomuzukashii my way around people that ask me complicated questions xD
I would definetely find a video about which servers are actually active and do have activities or topics very interesting, since when we tried to talk to people we mostly ran into empty servers where no one wanted to talk. Maybe it was also a language thing, since we focussed on servers in languages we know (which currently doesnt include japanese, chinese or korean, which a lot of the servers seem to be in), or about timezones, but maybe we just didn't find the right servers in the list, so it would be interesting to know how to go about that.
I'm actually in a very different boat than the assumptions made here. I'm an extrovert, 100%, but I've had some supremely bad experiences in the past that gave me social anxiety (that I've mostly managed to get rid of by now, at least for simple situations) and made me really afraid of trying to make friends. As a result, I am very lonely, and especially being an extrovert this is just not something my mind is meant to handle. After recovering from my bad experiences (partly due to trying to learn Japanese) I've been wanting to try making friends again, and have been exploring as many possibilities for how I could do it as possible. VRChat feels promising to me since it's closer to being like being with someone in person, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't still afraid of getting hurt again 😅 I'm determined though. Especially since when my Japanese is good enough it's also a way to make Japanese friends, which I'd love to do.
This video is very nicely made, I like this video. However I feel like people should be careful with getting on VRchat because the people in there sometimes are not really who they are and would behave a different way and which is generally not normal in real life. I would say a good way is to get a job if you're not going to a community college or college in general. If you're in highschool then talk to your teacher, their normal people (well I assume that there gotta be one teacher who is chill) and that they would be normal per say. Joining social places like volunteering or joining clubs in colleges or high school, although this part is a hard step and I don't think people who haven't got the confidence to do so is a good idea, but doing those activities with the friends that you got is a good idea as well. I do understand that not everyone wants to go outside or they perhaps have some conditions in their environment or anything of that sort that they can't socialize outside. So I want to say that don't let VRchat ruin your mentally and take breaks from them and reconnect with the outside world sometimes, I learned how much social media affects my view of world and that is not very healthy for me to be on UA-cam looking at comments or on Instagram or just talking to people in Roblox VC. I hope the best of luck and good fortune comes your way.

@charly-bb1hd you don't really have to worry about japanese, as a lot of people there speak good english or sometimes even only english so I recommend it

2:38 I can confirm as someone who uses Shinano. A lot of other Shinanos will start adding me as friends without even having interacted with them. A cute avatar definitely gets people to open up to you. I made mine look as friendly as possible and haven't had any issue making friends! Have you considered in a video digging deeper into the JP community of VRChat? Mainly the the twitter/bluesky community. I was surprised to see a lot of VRChat dedicated accounts with so many followers. I love clicking on people's social links and seeing their VRC social pages.
I'm actually writing some stuff about JP community in VRChat! I think there's lots of cool stuff that a lot of people don't know about because of the language barrier. That video is still in the works though 🙇♀️💦
@nerazawa I'm looking forward to it! It's definitely feels like a different world compared to the Western community. If you ever need other experiences and opinions I would be glad to help! I mainly hang around the mute/sleep community.
Same, both points in the video stand true in my experience. I noticed that I got the largest number of people randomly coming up to me when I was a kipfel, so being cute and approachable is definitely a plus. I also like finding other kipfels and mamefriends to hang out with, so.. I'm currently working on my first custom avatar and it's absolutely another kipfel 😂
3:00 - Friendship in VR Chat sounds kind of like a video game. You can actually do activities and level up your ability to communicate and understand each other. How awesome is that? Haha.

When she says similar hobbies, I laugh because my hobbies are niche as hell and the only ones I would get along with are people in they're 60s and 70s who are audiophiles that talk about vintage audio gear all day and would have to also play vrchat which none of these people exist. When I say audiophile equipment, I'm talking about turntables, reel to reel, cassette decks, vacuum tube amplifiers, headphones, etc. No one like that exists on VRChat except me. My hobby has been going on since I was about 8. It's pointless to share it with anyone because all they say is "that it is neat or seems cool but not practical". That's why I don't really share much with anyone because at the end of the day, no one cares. The same applies in real life.
